  1. He is the best defender we've had in at least the last quarter if a century and probably half a century. He's better than Danny Hughes, Ingerson and Shanahan no-one else even comes close (although we have had such prodigies as big Al Nicholson, Phil Gilbert and Damien Gaspar).

Whoops, David Neitz certainly has him covered.

  2. Brock got out because it was too far to travel from his home (in Altona I think?) to Casey. Or at least that's what he said then. He has since proved to be an unrealiable sod who put his old playing mates and supporters right in the poo for no reason other than spite. (He left Melbourne because of tanking? Really? Yet he went to Carlton to play alongside Krueser and Judd who wouldn't be there but for games Carlton 'lost'? Gimme a break). So was he lying then or is he lying now? You can't put any faith in anything he says because you don't know when he is lying and when he is telling the truth. Scum.

    So true.

I find it astounding how many people believe the defecation that emerges from his mouth.

  3. You know, I'm going to have a son in late June this year.

My partner is a Collingwood supporter.

I'm going to do my damndest to convert my son to the Red and Blue but she seems quite keen to turn him to the dark side.

It seems like this is gonna be a realllllll struggle.

  4. No old dee.

This AFL is in need of a thorough Spring clean & emptying of the hoarded rubbish their house is full of, including all the old black mailing photos used to pull clubs into their line of thinking.

We need this to move the game forward.

If its not now, it will continue collecting dirt until one day explodes the game like a Hydrogen Bomb.

Clean it now, while we are in the mood to get it done.

    Totally.

This bunch of hypocritical pond slime must be held accountable for these events.

  5. Jurrah is soft as butter anyway, he'll play a few good games early,

but he's not mentally capable of playing full-time football.

He is mentally fragile with a body unable to cope with the rigours of AFL.

Without Jurrah it's a big improvement to our culture.

Apart from your last sentence...you are smack on the money.

  6. was it really necessary for OCD mods to merge the threads - I was at dinner stealthily trying to get the result and the first post on this thread goes back to june 30.. now I have to navigate through to find the comments after 7.20 tonight, seriously what is the point of that? I know I sound like a dick but surely it is obvious that this type of organisation, though well intended, actually reduces the efficiency of the site.

    I agree...pretty annoying stuff.

  7. I came into this expecting some great expose regarding McLean's departure, only to be disappointed... a simple "?" mark would have made all of the difference.

And before you get upset over my pickiness, let me point out why grammar can be important; as an example, I will use capitalisation which can stop many potentially embarrassing situations... it could be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse." or "helping your uncle jack off a horse.".

What an idiotic post. Grow up.

  8. What was more amusing was Kevin Sheedy talking about how he had a 'Clayton's' interview with the MFC coaching selection panel back in 07, and how he could see all these problems, and that in all reality - it was he that was interviewing us not the other way round.

Yes I recall that, what astounding arrogance and what a fragile sense of self esteem that man has.

  9. Players usually change clubs for a number of reasons and McLean gave several in interviews after he left including the story about the long drives to Casey. My recollection is that Melbourne was not prepared to put him on the same coin he was getting in the last year of his 2009 contract because of concerns that he had lost a yard of pace due to his injuries starting in 2007. Carlton came in and offered more and he was traded for pick 11. I don't doubt that he was unhappy about the state of affairs involving the club in 2009 (who really was?) so I don't say he exactly lied when questioned by the panel of On The Couch. However, I doubt his response would have been a shock to the panelists. I'm told his views were known and the response he gave when asked on the night was to be expected.

Cheers, it's important to set the record straight with this chump.

  10. Does anyone here have a source regarding why Brock McLean left Melbourne? I clearly remember reading someplace that he left due to not liking the drive to Casey (it caused him cramps) and also due to his fear of not getting a game with Scully and Trengove in the Melbourne midfield?

I'm trying to point out to someone that his claims of leaving the club due to 'tanking' and both false and misleading.

  11. One thing I haven't heard mentioned anywhere yet, amazingly really, is where in the AFL rulebook does it say that a team MUST attempt to win every game of football or suffer sanctions?
