yeah, i noticed that too. can't see why when you are allowed 4 within square. i'd be following that up. he was also stopped before ball was bounced, so where would they get the timing from?

I used to be a boundary umpire.  The rule is that from the time the umpire commences his approach to bounce no one is allowed to cross the centre square, in or out - regardless if there are too many or too few in the square.

  2. I can't believe anyone would be looking to trade ANB.  He's been here two seasons, absolutely been smashing the VFL and I don't see why he won't do the same in the big league in a season or two.

  3. Not everyone can play for a successful team or have success in their playing career, it just doesn't work. All these young uns expect success and believe their longevity at a [censored] club means they deserve success elsewhere. Additionally, not every club can make the finals or be a contender. What I don't understand is how will the crap clubs ever get better if they have their free agents continually seeking out greener pastures. I like what someone recently wrote about banding things up so top 4 couldn't get FA's etc. Also interesting to see that most FA's are getting signed up on juicy long term deals, like their new clubs understand they are dealing with money hungry grubs.

Edit: To get the font size bigger than ants.

  4. The players union would never agree to anything like this, and for good reason.

I'm not convinced that it's so simple as blaming the Free Agency system. In fact the Free Agency system could stay with the present rules.

I'm far from a free-market capitalist but if we are to have free agency, it is incumbent upon the league to ensure a few things:

    1. Each team are able and capable of spending 100% of the salary cap.

    2. There is identical List, salary cap, and spending rules for every club.

If they ensure this, there's some chance that there is balance through FA and draft process. Players might still leave for better clubs - but everyone would have the same access and capacity. Right now it is ridiculous. The Sydney team that trotted out on Saturday can pretty much be replenished annually to ensure a top 4 finish under present rules.

It's quite a short sighted view from the players' union. If four clubs fall over then there's less employment for players, less cash to go around etc.

  5. Hopefully he will regain his pace. His sister is a runner it's in their genes.

There's running and there's running. Marathon runners, like his sister, don't need to be quick. I was at international level as a junior over 3km but could/can barely break 13 sec for 100m. This would see me beaten by every AFL player going around. If you aren't quick you need endurance and I think this is what Jack has.

  6. I havent really noticed Vineys pace as yet, am i missing something?

He is as hard as nails no doubt.

I'm not sure what is considered quick in AFL but Jack ran 51sec for 400m at the 2012 APS sports which isn't lightning but is above average. With that 400m time I reckon he would be about a 11.5 for 100m.
