  1. Pederson was involved with at least 4 score assists from what I saw tonight, playing as a good linkman so he won't be dropped. I'd like to see Kent back in the side just to give our forward line a bit of agro! but I think Goody will persist with Bugg for another week.

Lewis is a liability right now with his free kicks and he just looks slow compared to his opponents. I'd like to see Frost in as he takes the game on and frees up Lever as many have already mentioned.

  2. Good to see our big guys in nice touch with Hogan, Lever and Gawn. Absolutely loved the intensity of Brayshaw, Melksham and Vince tonight, as they'll be looking to cement their spot in the 22. Jones was a slight concern to me, as he looked to be going around 70% pace in covering ground and getting back defensively. He didn't look that good against North either.

Overall good first half, but took the foot off the gas in the second half. Comfortable win!

  3. I'm all for AFLW league, but if you want to be professional, then you need to look professional. Daisy Pearce and Mel Hickey are obviously the role models for the game. But when I see players like Cranston who to me looks 15kgs overweight, it just doesn't look good for the game. I saw several large women running around across the games on the weekend and I honestly couldn't take it seriously. Schoolboys could run all over them. I haven't even mentioned skills yet, but gosh they were atrocious and on par with a under 16's schoolboy games just from watching the first half of the Melb vs GWS game.

In short, work on your bloody fitness so you can at least resemble an athlete and learn how to kick properly and you'll make the game more bearable to watch.

I like that trade CC, hope it goes through. I liked what i saw of Taberner in the last game against Essendon.

I'd love to see Hogan, T Mac and Taberner as our 3 tall forwards for next year. they're all elite runners and would cause havoc for opposition defenders.

24yo who's done nothing, zilch with his career to date.

    Why???

Keep the lid on tight boys...

...and why would we want Darling? a perennial under achiever.

Relax rjay, Taberner was developing nicely behind Pavlich for most of his career. But Freo got Kersten and McCarthy in, so is now playing second fiddle. He is a welcome KPF and at the right age too.  It'll keep Pederson and Weidemann on their toes.

  6. Matt Taberner and Harley Balic to the Dees for Dean Kent and Pick 45. Freo want more... so may involve a shuffling of picks depending on the Jack Watts situation. Kent is also not keen on leaving Melbourne and acknowledges he had an inconsistent year due to ongoing back and hamstring strains.

I must say Taberner is an ideal replacement for Watts at 199cm and runs all day like a young Nick Riewoldt and could potentially play second ruck. Hopefully we can land both at little cost.

  7. Has anyone else heard the rumour that the Crows, Carlton and Melbourne are doing a 3 way trade? Watts to Carlton, Gibbs to Adelaide and Lever to Melbourne. If true what's everyone's opinion on that? I'd personally keep Watts, he's stuck with us through thick and thin over the years and he deserves all the success coming our way.

I'd really like to congratulate the letter writer and the multitude of posters in this thread who agreed with him. Without their great insight and advice we could not have won tonight.

No worries champ, hope you enjoyed the game. Just goes to show Melbourne can play that way every game... no excuses now... #realitycheck

With Round 2 finishing up today, is it too early to revisit some of the heroic posts of two and three months ago? The AFL tampers with the opening round Match-ups ( to try and create new record attendances) but nevertheless there are some very unexpected trends developing to date!

Sydney, Hawthorn and St.Kilda 0-2... I'm not entirely surprised about the results but the good teams will sort out the pecking order soon enough. It's only round 2 after all.

Trying to remember who was the fabulous Demonland track watcher up there last time who gave us really insightful and accurate reports. Apologies for my bad memory. Was great to read.

That was me Moonshadow, I just drove from Melbourne to Townsville for work last week so unfortunately won't be able to see them this time around.

  11. I've been to a few training sessions this year and I've been really pleased with the continual development of Vince, Jones and AVB. They've really grown into their roles and offer great voice and leadership. The group as a whole are more vocal and self assured then I've seen in recent years. They just keep ticking off all the boxes and have a real look of determination in them. I think we will see a much improved Vince, Jones and AVB this year.

  12. My predictions are:

    1 - 4: GWS, Sydney, Bulldogs, Geelong

    5 - 8: Adelaide, St.Kilda, Melbourne, Hawthorn

9 - 12: West Coast, Port Adelaide, Fremantle, Collingwood

13 - 18 Essendon, North Melbourne, Richmond, Gold Coast, Carlton, Brisbane

My reasoning behind all of this would be the natural progression of Melbourne and St.Kilda's youth and trade acquisitions, to help us reach the finals Woo-Hoo! I believe the Weagles will drop due to significant injuries to their ruck department and a tough draw. North will struggle without it's veterans... I imagine them to drop significantly. Freo will rise again with the return of Fyfe, Sandilands, Bennell and not to mention the good pick up's they got this trade period. And the rest will be trying to emerge from the bottom 6.

  13. For those of you who are questioning why Goody and his team has done this type of Military training for the players... please watch this!

Let me leave you with a few quotes from this opening scene of "Lone Survivor", so that you may grasp what they are achieving here...

    "Winning is a conscious decision!"

    "Turn it into aggression!"

"You just proved to your body, through your mind, that you can push yourself further than you ever thought possible!"

"Whatever you have to do, just find an excuse to win!"

For those of you who don't know what the Australian Army Corps Values are... They are Courage, Respect, Initiative and Teamwork. Without those four pillars, we do not achieve victory. The MFC staff are following a plan that is proven to work. I've done this training before and I believe it makes you a better version of yourself! Whether we make finals or not, this training will hold us in good stead. And yes... I'm a current serving member of the Australian Army.

Careful CC, that method of thinking doesn't always support a theory. Mark Blake was a premiership ruckman too at one point.

As I previously mentioned he's a smokey IMO. But by all means if you think there is another gettable player that won't cost us much and will give 3 to 5 good years of service while our young KPB's develop then i'm all ears...

    You must be joking.

Tim Mohr was either on our list or recruited from Casey.

he has a man bun and has lost the ponytail but not much has changed apart from the hair.

Lol Mohr is in GWS best 22 and are currently 4th on the ladder... I think it's you who is joking...
