  1. Could be. Or Doctor Who.
  2. And we will be openly in 18 months' time.
  3. This is gonna be great...
  4. You definitely can if you're not talking about past performance, but what they will do.
  5. Thanks for your expert opinion, but I'm going to back mine on this one, which is pretty much the opposite. Oh, and obviously that of Goodwin & McCartney, et al.
  6. I don't agree, but anyway... Edit: I should clarify - inconsistent maybe, but I don't think Melksham is absolutely a poor decision-maker or has poor skills; quite the opposite. Consistency can and will be worked on, and I think will improve markedly in our environment. I also think his work ethic will add to the club culture.
  7. Really? Vince was viewed by many as a soft front-runner with a deadly kick, often with good reason. What are Melksham's limitations exactly?
  8. Might be wrong, but I think Bombers supporters will be up in arms in 18 months time, wondering how they got so little for him & calling for heads. He has all the attributes for great success.
  9. I'm sure a lot won't agree with me, but I expect Melksham to have an impact equal to Vince.
  10. Is this where it came from?? Oh dear. Not to be taken seriously then obviously.
  11. I'd rather not lose Toumpas, but I'm happy to recruit Melksham.
  12. No coach would want to be surrounded by sycophants and yes-men, nor would an assistant last if this were his M.O.
  13. This is the bit that intrigues me...
  14. Your understanding of how a football dept works = zero.
  15. Strawberry, chocolate & banana are flavours of these. Looks like a hot tuna he does.
  16. Have to agree. Did anyone see what Ted Richards was like before he went to Sydney? Ugh.
  17. Sounds definitive. Jay Clark at his speculative best.
  18. Who was it that said Plowman wasn't a fan of Todd Viney? Funny, because I recall TV waxing lyrical about LP at a club function leading up to the draft. It's not like we overlooked him - we didn't get the option to take him. I'd be happy with a Bugg/Plowman/Tomlinson combo for an early pick.
  19. It's a technicality, but I think he did hold his place in the 22 for the majority of the season.
  20. People think this would be a leap of faith in the players not getting banned? What about Port with Ryder? The teams chasing Carlisle? The AFL must have the inside word, but be unable to release it publicly.
  21. I worked with a guy who was close mates with Melksham from junior footy days, when Hird first came to the club and brought in the weapon. He passed on stories of how Melksham was handed a new diet plan that had him eating 2 full rotisserie chickens per day, amongst all the other things that were going on. The aim was rapid weight gain, and it worked at first, before 90% started dropping with soft tissue injuries. This is all before the supplements saga became public & I never heard any mention of that.
  22. While we're at it, can someone please confirm the rumour I've heard that Ablett Jr has his eyes on a move from Geelong to the Gold Coast franchise?
  23. Under-performing according to whose metric? What is your alternative to keeping him? Delist him? Trade him for a 4th round pick? These options do not improve the list. I don't think you've considered the implications, or you don't understand them. You don't get better by getting rid of every player that isn't a superstar. Right now he's in our 22. If we can't use him to improve our list, the aim is to persevere until he either develops into an even better player, or other players go past him and push him out of our best 22 or 25, then if his value is that low, you might move him on for little to no return.
  24. Brett Anderson is known for very little other than being a self-proclaimed draft expert. He doesn't have ANY runs on the board in regards to inside knowledge with trades as far as I know. Fwiw I've been told Watts will stay, mostly because we're unlikely to get better value by moving him on.
