  1. Still unemployed, so was there again Another top session, only one missing today was Terlich Rehab group as such, Riley, Spencer, Kent, McKenzie, Trengove, Vandenberg, Stretch, Watts and Harmes Bernie Vince and Howe did bits of rehab but also the drills Spoke to Jack Trengove, next scan this week, jealous of the guys being able to train, but head in a good place, doing lots of work in the gym, did handball drills using his trike, , pic will be on my Twitter Demonpk, along with some others Chris Salem along with being devastated by Arsenal's loss at the weekend, tweaked his quad a bit at training but it is fine Asked Angus Brayshaw how he is going, he is feeling it, goes to bed no later than 8pm, already learning so much Spoke to PJ to get definitive answer on lack of advertising around the ground, it is not allowed in the lease, also tried for some of the Punt Rd edge but Vic Roads vetoed, also congratulated him on the profit for the year, his answer paraphrased "we have to get the supporters trust again" Big Pencil Spencer has a good mate diagnosed with Leukemia back in Nth Qld, so used his 'fame' and shaved his head to raise money for him, he raised $8000, the human face of footy Highlight in the full field drills today, Lumumba, Garlett, Tyson, Toumpas and N Jones For all the optimists, Jimmy Toumpas again killed them in the running drills, streeted his group by 30 metres, drill was start in goal square, run around to halfway, run across the field and back to goal square and then down to other end Any questions feel free.
  2. I had to read that twice to make sure I got it right, that's hilarious, I spoke to him, he feels that his form has been inconsistent (not alone) and he needs to put himself first to enable him to fulfil his potential, sounds like Roos had some input
  3. When they do the full field drills, the normal suspects in Hogan, Pedersen, Dawes and the rucks (including Fitzy) are forward, the rest are all over the place, I asked Howie where he would be playing this season and the answer was "hopefully somewhere in the 22", yesterday they had Garlett in midfield. As far as I can gather, the 'serious' stuff re positioning will be after Xmas, but as I have said before, Roos has 2 backs locked in, 2 mids and a ruck and 2 forwards, the rest he wants to mix and match, you can pick your own for who they are To answer the rookie question on upgrading, it depends, KIng is a beautiful kick and there wouldn't be a problem playing him forward if the need arises, Harmes is a good inside midfielder, started to look settled at VFL level towards the end of the season, doesn't look out of place during the drills, Vandenberg is 8 weeks from a shoulder op, so same as Bernie Vince so will probably be eased into it, White looks raw (hence the rookie spot), need to see more of him
  4. Viv Michie had gastro a couple of weeks ago which knocked him around a bit, watched him complete three sessions this week, just doing everything without too much fuss Toumpas is just flying, you can see he is enjoying his footy as well, Salem is the same hasn't missed a session, best bit for me today was watching Lumumba and Garlett in the kicking and full field drills, confirmed why we got them Nev Jetta was fine, came off to check, has had a history of shoulder issues, think he just jarred it a bit, told me it was ok at the end Dunn just steps over the line now and again, but we need one or two pricks in defence so you can't change him, I am sure words will be said though
  5. Roos has them boxing, wrestlng and grappling with encouragement from the coaches to give it everything, you never know Dunn might be under instruction to rough up the youngsters, Viney can look after himself
  6. Sorry English term, having a person on the ground and not caring what you grab to keep them there, Roos has got them belting and wrestling each other on a regular basis, one of the highlights of this years training for me, apart from the improved ball use, they are slowly and surely beginning to look like a Roos coached team
  7. Not a deal, it was right in front of me and another supporter, looked for all money that Dunn put his knees into Viney, then proceeded to scrag him, Jack Grimes just pulled them apart, probably to stop it escalating, but during this drill there was quite of bit of venom in the tackling, think the coaches demanded it. Toumpas got Nev Jetta later As long as it doesn't get ugly this is what you want to see
  8. Toumpas got Nev with a perfect shirtfront, think Nev will note it down Roos is all over the place at training, you can tell when he is not happy, you can hear him over the fence no matter where he is
  9. Still settling in, nice left foot kick, nice size, doesn't get knocked off the ball during those drills, seems to do all the work, asked him last week for a quick difference in preseasons as he was from Port, said only difference was MFC don't do Saturdays
  10. Good afternoon interested supporters, including those interstate and overseas, the PC Police and the lemon suckers I was there again, most have covered the drills and observations already, including Grimes' win in the beep test, which I didn't think was unusual as he is one of best trainers when fit A point on Garlett, there was another instance were he was running across field to the right, turned on a sixpence and put a ball down somebody's throat, didn't catch who, on the left, how he saw him I have no idea, leading to Roos shouting 'great vision' The kicking and movement drills seemed very good, but Ben Mathews told me the coaches thought they were 'ordinary' today and the players were told as much, so high standards Interesting bit in one of the contested drills, Dunny put his knees into Viney on the ground and then scragged him, was just about to get interesting when Jack Grimes stepped in to separate them, some of the hits today were meant to hurt, Toumpas got Nev Jetta a beauty as well The new rookie Mitchell White is another big unit, did bits and pieces of the training Aaron Vandenberg, the other new rookie, only arrived late in the morning, brought out by Shannon Byrnes obviously just to get a taste, didn't do anything There were some new toys on display today, a camera on a pole, so they can get above ground vision, Roos showed a bit of interest before training started, there will be pic on Twitter Demonpk, later There was also some strange looking devices being trialled, they are like an oven glove you put on your hand, helps lower your core temperature somehow, looking at using them in Maroochydore and Darwin, pic as well Spoke to Max King, who is a really good kick, got him fit now, weighs in at about 94k now, they want him eventually up around the 100k mark, thinks he is still growing height wise as well Jack Trengove was out there as well, with his trike, pic on Twitter later Spoke to Chris Dawes to confirm he is on an individual program for him, answer is yes, being slightly older and 100k they are doing it slightly different Any questions feel free
  11. It is not reacting, I was explaining the context of the picture, which seemed to be misconstrued by some of the less enlightened on here, I get used to being harshly harangued, some seem to have a problem, I just stop reading their posts. You are actually contradicting yourself, I should be allowed to post whatever I want (mods permitting) without the need for you to tell me to stop, or I am again reacting badly to your post?
  12. Seriously, and without trying to be offensive, I think it may be you that has the problem, it was a bit of fun, which JKH agreed to, have a look at the Christmas Video, Jack Viney, one tough hombre, playing with toys
  13. Gee it was a joke and JKH did it as such, he was a good sport, he favorited it on Twtter and so did the Club, some on here really do need to get out more into the fresh air, Jack Viney did the same with his 'guns' photo,. Some of the comments verge on the ludicrous. Some of the players take the [censored] to my face, Col Garland being the most recent example on Wednesday, but it is a bit of fun, and we all take it as such, coz we are all adults They actually know I take an interest, especially in getting the injury issues correct, so I can ask and get an answer, including from Dave Mission It is no wonder the players are told not to read sites like this if some of the comments on this post are anything to go by
  14. Either picked up a bit of an injury or recovering from op, being done properly, all confirmed by either the player or Dave Misson Watts -groin Terlich - ankle (op) Gawn - knee Spencer - ankle (op), bit of back soreness Riley - leg, making sure we don't damage the one he broke McKenzie - calf, had issues last season Kent - quad Dawes - history of soft tissue Harmes - glandular fever Stretch, Brayshaw - new Vince - shoulder (op)
  15. I like to drip feed who I talked to if they get mentioned, similar to Russian, Fitzy is fit and firing and hasn;t missed a session, if he gets though he is another one who will have their first full preseason, his marking was impacted by the shoulder issues he had in the past, which are now fixed (same with Tommy Mc), on the goalkicking drill hardly missed, but being Fitzy couldn't resist at the end practicing the checksides, he didn't miss one of them either... I posted the other week, we have quite a few 'forgotten" players who are finally getting in a full preseason....the competition for places is going to be fierce,, hoo bloody ray finally Speaking of which I also spoke to Jack Grimes, he made the decision to stop being a co captain because he knows the competition is finally going to be there and he needs to improve his on field output, he is in great nick as well, hasn't missed a session
  16. One of the others I spoke to was the big Rush, joked that most pundits had him in his last year, he is feeling really good and refreshed, another one who is doing every session, looking forward to fighting off the competition for his spot, knows a couple of ordinary non impacting games will start the process of change
  17. He went ok, didn't go flat out, some of his goal kicking was just sublime, took a one step kick, just messing around and it went through post height
  18. Why, it is a bit of fun, you need to lighten up Clint, if he didn't want to do it, he wouldn't have done it, simple
  19. Reasonable morning to watch training, pics will be up on my Twitter account Demonpk later Only 2 missing today Trengove and Roh Bail On modified program Watts, Terlich, Gawn, Spencer, Riley, McKenzie, Kent, Dawes, Harmes, Stretch, Brayshaw and to some extent Bernie Vince After the physical pounding they took on Monday, today was more about ball work, there was an interesting one being run by Ben Mathews with chain passing and it was being timed, there was another goal kicking one where they received the ball from a backwards kick from the pocket into a central position about 40 out There was also a lot of work going on with picking up ground balls Answer to a burning question, Dave Misson said it would ideal if Petracca played at around 90-92kg, he is 94 at the moment, Angus Brayshaw said he would like to play at 88kg, so yes a pair of big boys. Keeping with the new boys, I asked Billy Stretch, said he hasn't been doing a lot of extra work, just the normal footy traiinig, he said it was genetic from his old man, thinks he will have to put on some bulk. Alex Neal Bullen was a State rep in distance running so he has the tank, says his main focus will be increasing his speed, Oscar McDonald is enjoying it, relishes the hard work like his bro One person bouncing around today was Dom Tyson, so at the end asked how he was going, the smile when he answered was blinding, just pumped to be injury free and able to do every session, really enjoying the coaching, learning so much, looking at going up another notch this year and knows he needs a full pre season to do that Had a joke with JKH about his musclebound physique, which he thought was funny, persuaded him to do a 'guns' pic, will be on Twitter, a good sport Any questions feel free
  20. Not by me, they're just young guys doing something we would have all liked to do, but didn't have the ability, I'll make sure I phrase the Petracca question properly, as I always do, that's unless they are on the AFL Induction already, although that might be after the Rookie draft
  21. Apologies, my firewall decided all links are now dodgy, new update, fixed, that being said, this topic appears every year about this time and allows the professional whingers we have on here to vent, anybody feel like volunteering to help update the webpage, I am sure the Club would appreciate it
  22. I am not sure why?, Alex NB and Oscar Mc were happily chatting to a few on the first morning, including myself, and having photos taken, as long as you leave it until they have finished the session nobody has a problem, they are encouraged to interact, I even got a breezy "good morning and how are you going" from Chris Dawes...much to my amazement...they are not precious or on a pedestal...as long as you treat them with respect......
  23. Do you want me to ask? Billy Stretch looks really good with the running because he was a gun junior athlete as well, same as Alex NB who supposedly has a really good tank already. I know we are getting it right, asked Dean Kent how he was travelling and standing next to him he is bigger and more developed than last year, which he confirmed, just a bit peeved about the quad strain
  24. MODS that link is a dodgy links, can you lock the topic
