  1. More power needs to be given to clubs around player movements. Given the recent trade deals for arguably lesser players at the same point in their respective careers (Jeremy Cameron), if we were to take anything less than let’s say WC #2 & 2023 1st Rd for LJ & 2023 2nd Rd we would be getting unders.

    Only three years in the system, this kid hasn’t even scratched the surface of his talent! Trading for only around/ less than what we gave to get him in the first place is a terrible outcome given the failure rates of draftees.

    It disappointing that the league took Mac Andrew from us last year with a strategically placed rule change, now we are perilously close to being shafted a second time within 12months!

  2. Ok, so we were intent on getting pick 3, seeing as we had a deal lined up with GC for some time. That doesn't suggest to me that it must be Parish- but could be anyone we thought would only be available at pick 3-5 (3 players).

    It could be Parish, or it could be one of the KPP's we knew would go before (even as "low" as pick 5)

    What's my point? It might be Parish, or it might be one of Curnow, Francis or Weideman. I'm breaking ground.

    I agree they may just been really keen on someone that might have been picked up before pick 6 and maybe hopeful a good mid could slip through
  3. I'm definitely in the "don't know what the fuss is about" camp.

    When it comes to the trade table, the emotional investment we've all made in Toumpas and Howe has zero currency.

    The life of the lowly football supporter: you bleed for your club and players, even when in reality, they just aren't as good as what you keep believing they are.

    Who's getting emotional? As they say something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, North were willing to pay #15 and we took #29!

    That's a massive discrepancy! Would have accepted an early 2nd rounder , #29, and Kennedy for Howe and Toumpas, anything less is a fail!

  4. We're not a good footy club yet, but we're not the worst in the competition. There is no way that we'll be finishing last on the ladder this year.

    Demonland is so ridiculous. Last week people were talking about winning 8 of the last 9 and squeezing into the finals, and this week people are talking about winning the spoon.

    we will finish with 5 or 6 wins which will leave us 2nd or 3rd off the bottom i think we will be above the lions on For and Against and the the Blue's to get the spoon

  5. IMO the draft order will finish-

    1st-Brisbane

    2nd-Carlton

    3rd-Melbourne

    Brisbane look set to take Schache (if they can't get Dixon via trade) and Carlton may yet take the best available mid, leaves us to snag Weitering then just need a CHF...

    Maybe Howe for Tomlinson has a great tank and a decent mark.. not to mention with a healthy GWS list sits behind Cameron, Patton and now McCarthy which has forced him to play in the backline to get a run

  6. Trade Watts Dawes Garland Howe and Toumpas

    I really dont think they offer enough for the future.

    Remove Bail Mckenzie Terlich

    Keep Cross and Pederson for one more year. Keep Grimes at last showing some of his old form and he seems to care.

    Jamar retired

    We can't move that many forwards on, the weekend showed we are lacking in that area. As much as Dawes isn't the end game for the Dees until Hogan has at least 50-75 games under his belt we need the mature body up front. In saying that Howe and Toumpas could offer value on the trade table

  7. Agree to disagree. He's been injured for a year, he certainly hasn't reached his potential yet and he's a Melbourne boy. I'd be presenting a little package to him. $500,000. He wouldn't get that at GWS.

    Do we want two full forwards? we need a CHF like a Gunston, somone who gets on their bike and has awareness not a Kosi and Riewoldt scenario where they run into each other every second week.

    For mine if our pick is outside the top 2 take Weideman who will probably be around the pick 9 mark so maybe offload the early 1st rounder for both a mid and a late 1st round pick

  8. If the truth be know Chris I would be happy with one scintillating player a week.

    As you well know I am not a Toumpas fan. So far I have seen nothing above ordinary.

    A no. 4 pick suggests you were in the top ten players of your draft year.

    So far nothing shown by Toumpas suggests he is close to producing that level of performance at senior level.

    i have faith in the Toump! he's lacking confidence in his body and skills, but barring any further injuries that should come with game time.

    when he is on he fires darts right at the forwards face... Toumpas to Hogan!!! Goal!!!

  9. Do you think he will ever rate against our babies?

    Petracca, Brayshaw, vandenBerg, Stretch, Bullen, Kent,Tyson, JKH. Salem, Hogan.

    Plus the older guns we have added, Cross, Lumumba, Vince, Garlett

    The improved real oldies Jetta,McDonald, Garland, Dunn, Watts, Gawn, N. Jones.

    I have probably overlooked a few but with that list. No place for Trenners I am afraid.

    Cross is a great example of what we want at the Dees, however i don't see him in our best next year bar injuries

    FB - Jetta, McDonald, Dunn

    CHB - Lumumba, Garland, Frost

    C - Watts, *Vince / Trengrove, Salem

    CHF - Kent , **Dawes , Howe

    FF - Garlett, Hogan, Petracca

    RUCK - Gawn, Jones , Brayshaw

    INT - Toumpas, Vandenberg, Tyson, Viney

    * Vince and Trengrove will provide the same service (goal kicking tagger)

    ** Dawes' position in the team as the sole KP at CHF needs attention

  10. assuming the ladder stays where it is, we have pick 4.

    trade ND4 to a middle of the table team ie. Geelong for both ND9 and ND27

    trade ND22 (845 points) and ND27 (703 points) to GWS for tomlinson and ND28

    use ND9 on a Ah Chee or Curnow / etc

    GWS get to use the extra points to offset selecting both Hopper and Kennedy (presumed early picks of ND5 (1751 points) and ND9 (1469 points) respectively) totalling 3220 points

    ND10 = 1375

    ND22 = 845

    ND27 = 703

    ND46 = 331

    total points = 3254

  11. Lever looks good it just seems a real worry to draft someone within the top 10 that has already had a knee reco and is a tall. Anyone else share these reservations?

    didn't Judd have a shoulder issues in the year he was drafted?? don't remember it ever being an issue throughout his career.

    I'm sure they would do their due diligence before considering him

  12. #2 - Petracca / Laverde

    #3 - Laverde / Lever

    if we draft mids I would like to see them have pace, as for Lever what I have seen and read is enough for me to want him at the footy club.

    forward line isn't in too bad a shape for now with the possibility of Petracca pushing Watts up onto the wing if he gets to us

    Cam Pederson Jeremy Howe Jack Watts Jesse Hogan Jeff Gartlett Chris Dawes
  13. big bodied players are what we need, we don't need more toumpas's, Salem's, Hunt's or Barry's (who will hopefully come on in time). We need to aim for Dangerfield and if we can't get him then for Petracca maybe even both if the List management is aggressive enough

  14. Are you a Geelong supporter?

    No where near it! A late second rounder is useless to the Dees! but pick 14 gives us options, we need to use M.Clark to come up the order not for some pick that can only be used on anothers scraps or a project player, we have had enough of them lets get in some high end talent (P.Dangerfield) to teach these kids how to play through example or package the #2 and #14 for Stkilda's #1 and #22
