THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/supplement-actovegin-is-now-a-controlled-treatment-under-new-afl-guidelines/story-fnelctok-1227479356164 This article shows we were fully investigated and cleared in 2013. “The AFL conducted a substantial audit of every club, and extensive background checks on all science, fitness and medical staff,” a league spokesman said. “The AFL found that the supplement programs at AFL clubs were as a whole well managed and under the control of the club doctor. “While some opportunities to achieve best practice existed, no major issues were identified aside from the involvement of Stephen Dank at Melbourne FC which was subsequently fully investigated by the AFL and ASADA.” Dank is really trying to bring everyone down with him. -
Exactly. Plus if we landed him as a free agent we suddenly become a very attractive option for other players looking to be traded/free agents.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
DistrACTION Jackson replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is it unwise to offer a 20 year deal? -
I wonder how big having Simon Goodwin would be to luring him to the Dees? Imagine if we go Dangerfield as a FA and Motlop for our first round pick. Suddenly we are a finals side.

Post Match Discussion - Round 19
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did anyone else notice that Gawn was off for the first half of the last quarter? I imagine he was spent from rucking against Goldstein all day but we really got killed out of the centre during this period. Dawes was smashed in the ruck, which is expected. I've got a feeling the coaches thought they would rest him and try and have him fresh for the last 5-10 minutes but the game was lost then anyway. -

Still annoyed that we lost today, but in the end it is to a side who are going nowhere. Dal Santo, Petrie, Thompson ([censored]), Harvey, Waite are all Over or close to 30. They have one of the oldest lists and are not even close. We will go past them, hopefully as quickly as next year. -
I really don't understand how people on D'Land can scoff at us picking up Tom Lynch? The guy has 22 goals this season from 16 games. He is the perfect 3rd tall in the Jack Gunston mould. A forward line with the following would be extremely dangerous: HF: Kent Hogan Petracca F: Garlett XXXX Lynch I put XXXX because I'm hoping that's who replaces Dawes as our 2nd tall, preferably a guy who is a genuiene ruck/fwd.
-
Having a look at the games he should poll: Round 8: 39 point win vs Bulldogs- 26 touches and 2 goals (likely 2 or 3 votes) Round 10: 25 point loss vs Collingwood- 34 touches and 2 goals (likely 1 or 2 votes) Round 11: 2 point loss vs St Kilda- 38 touches (likely 1 or 2 votes) Round 12: 24 point win vs Geelong- 38 touches and 2 goals (likely 3 votes) Round 15: 9 point loss vs Essendon- 35 touches (likely 1 or 2 votes) Round 18: 37 point win vs Collingwood- 30 touches and 3 goals (likely 3 votes) I would have him on about 15 votes if he gets the best case scenario in each. Would likely need to have another BOG plus 2 more polling games to go close to a place finish.

Would happily trade our second round pick for him. Would complement Hogan really well.
-
Would love him at the Dees.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
What do people think Motlop is worth should we try and trade for him? I'd probably look at something like our first and 2nd pick for Motlop and their first pick back. Thoughts on that trade? The cats desperetaly need to replenish their list with 8 players over 30 on their list. -
He is best 22 at the moment but I expect that to change over the coming years. He will still be a handy depth player over the next 4-5 years and I don't think there is any point trading him unless it's a deal well in our favour (which is unlikely).
-
If he passes medicals I would like to see the following this off season. Trade our first pick for Prestia (add 3rd round of needed). Trade Howe for GWS first pick. Use GWS pick on Weideman.
-
3rd man up is actually better for aesthetics. It means the ball gets tapped out of the congestion rather than falling at the feet of the ruckman. God I hate how reactive the AFL is to everything that happens.

Post Match Discussion - Round 17
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
As much as we have done some good recruiting, we've still missed a number of good players that the Saints got. Bruce, Savage, Weller have all been good. We could really use one of those guys. -
With the umps trying to even it u its still 29-21 frees for the saints.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's the problem…. no one will. He is at best a depth forward, we really need to find another tall forward, maybe Weideman? -
As much as Riewoldt has been a great player….. I'll be very happy when he retires and we never has to play against him again!
-
Absolute joke that Tmac is not on Riewoldt. Roos makes some very dumb decisions sometimes! VandenBerg having a howler!!! Gave up two goals in the space of 2 minutes!

Delistings/trades at end of the season
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we've pretty much done that over the last 3 drafts: Hogan Salem Brayshaw Petracca VandenBerg McDonald Stretch ANB JKH Viney Kent And that's not taking into account a few other players who may also play a big part moving forward: King, White, Toumpas, Hunt , Harmes. And add who we've brought in: Tyson, Garlett, Frost. That's a fairly good nucleus moving forward. -

It's all well and good for clubs like North and Richmond to offer Treloar big money but they are also going to have to satisfy GWS. With our first pick and Howe we should have that covered.... -
2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really doubt this. I'd recommend watching the footage again if you can. One of them he rolled through for a goal which was fairly lucky. The second one dropped well short straight to an Eagles player. Without a doubt Brayshaw is much better on his opposite foot (whichever that is), Martin is more explosive though. -

Martin is definitely not dual sided. I was at the game against the Eagles and he had to check-side kicks from 50 because he didn't want to go on his left. Wines I haven't watched enough of to know but I think Brayshaw would have to be one of the most fluent kicks on either side that I have seen at such a young age. -

Looking at Sam Day's averages they seem fairly underwhelming. Average disposals per game: 9.3 Average marks per game: 3.2 Average goals per game: 0.7 He was pick number 3 it's surprising he hasn't had as much bad publicity as Watts..... but then who has?
