  1. That is the sort of mark every person dreams of taking when you play kick to kick with your mates at the park. Textbook. Awesome. Just love the split second of hangtime once the mark was taken. Oxygen sapping at that height!
  2. Its your choice whether you enjoy 3AW or not. My comments about Rex is that he has made a number of public statements condemning people for certain behaviours which he has been most guilty of and his dishonesty has been to the public embarrassment and humilitation of his wife and family. The problem with Rex is that it is all about Rex. I dont find him either incredibly knowledgeable about the game, his comments incisive or entertaining. In fact, its difficult to follow the game because Rex is more concerned about Rex and not the game. I note 3AW has given him a long overdue kick in the pants.
  3. Rather than rumours Jack give me facts. Both sides were not only vying for Bryce Gibbs but a priority pick in the second round. Given Essendon were crippled in the midfield there is no reason that they would have baulked at Gibbs as the best young footballer in the country. The same issues apply to that game as to R22 regardless of your opinion of the magnitude. BTW, whenever someone blames the umpires for the outcome of a game, its usually because they cant work out the real reasons why the game went that way.
  4. Big Deal. I cant for the life of me see why people see in or listen to Rex Hunt. One of the most self centred, self focussed, hypocritical and dishonest windbags in the media.
  5. He's 23, wayward and has not played AFL for two years and has an attitude problem. I'd rather Craig Turley ...now
  6. If the AFL want to remove the smear of tanking it should do the following: 1. Abolish any first round priority picks. 2. Make the first 8 draft picks for the bottom 8 clubs subject to lucky dip or a random extraction of numbers like Tattslotto or barrier draws for the Melb Cup. In recognition of the problem for weaker clubs maintain the 2nd round priority pick for teams that win less than 20 points in an AFL season. So a team that tanks it and wins less than 5 games a year has a 12.5% chance of getting the number one draft pick and pick 17 then usual order. The safety and surety of access to rich talent if you barrel out of the year is severely challenge and incentive dampened
  7. Did the AFL intervene in the Bryce Gibbs cup match last year between Essendon and Carlton? They still do Rogue. And they only beat Carlton because MFC played about 6 minutes of good football in 2 bursts. I know what the players want to do. They seem incapable of doing it.
  8. I'm not sure Sheedy's heart would be in it. And you would never know with the old dog. 27 years with one club is alot to leave.
  9. Agree Gouga. So how can people be in a position to reasonably rate Ratten's year at MFC when we had Thompson finally fit and White as an AA. However for what it is worth, Carlton smashed us in the clearances the other week but their persistently poor disposal week after week does not reflect well though. They do not seem to have progressed much.
  10. Its a good point pants. The other thought is that Ratten has got alot of mysterious currency amongst supporters on this site for only 1 year of midield coaching where he apparently had the "X" factor of influence. This currency has not been diminished by the fact that he has been midfield coach at Carlton for the past two years and frankly they have been absolute tish. I aint counting Ratten out...but I cannot work out any reasoned or knowledge basis as to why he would be a good coaching option other than he has put his hand up for the job.
  11. From what I have seen of Newton I dont think he fits that theory.
  12. Newton is in his 3rd year at the Club and his development has been more than a couple of games at Sandy. He has always had the ability but had not always had the application nor the belief required to fulfil it. His showing in his first MFC games reflects the benefits of having the education he has had.
  13. But we crystallise Carlton's PP. Hell, I want them to win another game this year. If we are on 3 wins and they are on 5 wins leading into R22, then I want to belt their socks off and have a big win. B)
  14. Exactly Brocky. There some uninformed judgements being made about what goes on in the coaches box. While I do not necessarily hold my earlier view it would have the same validity as the comment about his contribution in the MFC coaches box......Probably little in real life!
  15. If you are not going to mention the name then why would you brag about being permitted to mention their name? FWIW, take out Essendon and Collingwood and every club would be borderline basketcase or a basketcase financially. For some clubs like Kangas, Dogs and MFC, the accounts only break even due to extra AFL funds. As part of its rich TV deal, the AFL must deliver 16 clubs playing 8 games a round. The Clubs share that largesse. TO provide some form of equilibrium, battling Clubs get extra funds. Its hardly ground breaking stating that we would make a loss.
  16. Conversely, he could also be held to be partly to blame for the poor outcome of MFC if he has had input in the coaching this year.
  17. If the AFL continue to award priority picks based on a team's lack of success then the issue of tanking - actual or perceived will always be there. If you want to avoid the isue of tanking .......remove the incentive. By the way what result do you think the AFL wants? What proof have you got that they have an agenda for the final round? "The AFL must ensure either Melb win 2 games or Carlton one, prior to round 22. " That does not solve the issue at all as Carlton and Melbourne can play for lower ladder positions. Secondly it allows Richmond some unchallenged entitlement to a second round priority pick this year and the potential of a first round pick next year. How is that fair?
  18. Quite correct Maurie. If you dont like them dont listen. Whats the point of lambasting those that do?
  19. And you were bragging about smashing your radio?..... Completely agree.
  20. So if you do that how do you hear his songs that clearly seem to clearly upset you?
  21. There's a saying about people in glasshouses.... I guess his goal on the run from the boundary line about 45 metres out was up and under wasnt it?
  22. Rubbish! All power to the Coodabeens there songs about all Clubs including Melbourne are most amusing and witty.
