  1. Please forgive my ignorance, but living over here there are some things I don't understand.

    1. Why don't the selectors pick Adam Tomlinson. Seems he is the most hardly done by player we've had for years.

    2. What's happened to socks? We've gone from the red legs to the hairy legs! When did shin pads die! You can hardly see the red these days.

    3. How does the utility work in Fantasy Football?

4.When can we get a list replacement for Angus Brayshaw?

    Thanks in anticipation.

  2. Tasmania

Build a rivalry with them and claim it. It can be a Demons v Devils thing. I don't think we will be in the sights of the bigger (but not better) Victorian clubs, except when both teams are doing well. So lets start a new one.

  3. For those of us in the UK it's either Watch AFL or the BT sports channel. There will be plenty of pubs in the cities who will screen it for the games that are on during opening hours. Early kick offs Australian time will be problematic.

I live in the countryside so I'll be watching from behind the sofa at home until we get ten goals in front.

Carlton Draught run something called the Carlton Draft wherein a bunch of recently retired players get drafted for 1 game to struggling country/regional teams (who have nominated for the chance to get the opportunity).

So a feel good story for the small club and they can get some press and some good canteen takings etc.  Also basically an extended advertisement for Carlton Draught - Additionally who doesn't like wordplay.

    This year it was as follows;

Alex Rance: May 14 at Campbells Creek
Eddie Betts: May 22 at Branxholme Wallacedale
Dale Thomas: June 4 at Nhill Tigers
Shaun Burgoyne: June 11 at Dalyston
Jarryd Roughead: June 18 at Gormandale
Nathan Jones: July 9 at Portarlington
Brendon Goddard: July 9 at North Wangaratta
Cam Mooney: July 23 at Longwood

Thank you for the explanation. Sounds a really good idea.

  5. From over here I don't understand what this is all about and how it works. Could someone explain it to me?  I would appreciate your help.

From the little I know it  sounds like a great connection between elite players and the grassroots game. As someone who played suburban football many years ago the idea of playing with or against a player like Nathan Jones would be amazing.

Which one showed the potential to really be able to play UKD?  So long ago I've forgotten. Didn't one of then go to Essenscum and turn it on one day?

As I remember, Ted was in the Tom Bugg mould. John was much bigger and a key position player. He showed potential. I'm not sure about Essendon connections.

There is no point playing easy teams and making finals. If you can't beat top sides, you won't go far in September.

Last year we beat everyone in the top 8. I rather play hard games and test ourselves and our game plan against the best sides heading into finals. What do Geelong get from playing North and West Coast other than a false sense of achievement?

Oh nice, I never knew this existed! (the MFC overseas memberhip that is)

It seems to be cheaper to get the membership with the complementary pass than going via the 12 month Watch AFL subscription

I wonder how much of this goes to the club?

I too was unaware of this and am grateful for it being pointed out, (yet another benefit of Demonland.) A membership and a useful saving. Definitely a win-win.

  9. The only player that ever seemed to get penalised for this infringement was Clayton Oliver and I thought that was because he can handball so quickly that the umpires didn't believe it could possibly be legal.  I agree that others totally get away with it.

  10. I hate the thought of agreeing with Geelong, it's a bit like agreeing with Nigel Farage. However, trying to take all bias out of it, why can't they play their game at home when there are no crowd capacity issues? Why don't Richmond have to play there like we do?

Am I missing something from over here?
