  1. Ok, time for me to step in and make the "official" announcement re after match this Sunday.

I have put a formal letter to the board to voice my complaint regarding the function or lack thereof due to no player attendance. The main issue is lack of communication.

It appears that last year we had a few people overdoing the drinking and causing a bit of a nuisance to the players and jostling them etc.. and one woman ( and I stress not moi) apparently indecently groping a player. This player was not a young inexperienced one but all the same he was quite taken aback and voiced his concerns to the club. They took it on themselves to decide that no players would attend however didnt do me the courtesy of letting me know so we could take steps to secure the players safety.

I hope this will be rectified for next year but as such there will be no official function however everyone is welcome upstairs at the Pineapple for a post match "celebratory" drink. NO charge -just rock up!

Players will be available to sign stuff and pose for pics etc on Saturday after training. An email from the club was due out today however yet to receive it.

As for tix, not sure we will be part of a massive crowd but I am still booking my tix this week and not leaving it till Sunday.

    See you all there.

  2. I am not a big fan of tshirts but would be interested to know if they would print it on a singlet.

If so, could be persuaded to part with some $$$. Probably prefer the blue cos when I exercise the red would be the same colour as my face. At least with blue we have the right colour scheme going.. red face/blue singlet.

  3. Although I wont completely relax until the contract is signed, sealed and delivered, I am pretty relieved right now that Tom will remain a Demon and enjoy

many years of success alongside is teammates in the red and blue.

    Well done Tom.

I, too, will be interested to see how the membership figure grows now we have a little indication of his intentions.

  4. Hightower, I didnt get an email from you. Or maybe I did. What was your email addy and I will check. You can PM it if you want to remain anonymous..

  5. The amount will be between $50 and $75 depending on the number of people. At last count it was $75 but have a couple more additions so will prob be down under $70 now.

  6. Well seems we are looking for a few as some just havent answered the emails or responded here.

If you are interested in being part, that would be great.

Come on guys we are only half way there.. if you were in last year and u want to stay PLEASE let me know this weekend. If you want out, although disappointing, it is Xmas and i will understand.

So much for getting flooded with responses and upgrading.. at the moment we are up for double what we paid last year.

  7. Just a reminder I need to know who is still in for Chips sponsorship for 2011. i have had a few replies but if you were in last year and wish to withdraw, I need to know by the end of the weekend at the latest.

Anyone who wants in, Queenslander or not is most welcome. Just send me a PM and I will take it from there.

    Thanks

  8. Hi guys

Well got notification from the club that our sponsorship of Chip is due for renewal and if we want to continue, we need to confirm this and pay our dues by 17th December.

For all of you that participated last year, I have emailed but 3 people were on my computer that I didnt have a form for and that computer has died. I cannot access it for your email details so if you havent got a mail from me, could you confirm if you wish to continue with your sponsorship or opt out.

At this stage please just email me or PM me if you wish to continue.

If we get a few more takers we can reduce our payment amount or if we get a lot we might be able to do a second sponsorship. I will advise.

  9. From a Qld Demons perspective, its pretty damn good. We get an early season game (weather should be typically good in April) v Gold Coast rather than Brisbane and it's on a Sunday afternoon which means more fans can come along to our function afterwards.

Night games are a nightmare and this is a much better fan friendly option.

Now all we have to do is win!!!

  10. I think its pretty unfair. Its hard enough to get a GF ticket as a true supporter and member of your club with all the corporates taking the seats of the true fans without having to fork out a second time for another chance to go.

For interstate and o/seas fans who do manage to get there, well it would be heartbreaking to have to return home without a result..many couldnt affort the price of a second ticket ( unless they joined the Pies fans in a major Melb crime wave) let alone the extra time off work to stay down and go again.

What if it drew again? Do we play a third? A Fourth?

No it shoudl be extra time I think. Get a result on the day. If it's good enough to be used in earlier finals where a team could get knocked out of the race, why isn't it ok to use in the biggest game of all???????????????

  11. Lose key players to injury early in the game. Then to just lose. I don't care how. Go Saints.

We the MFC have hated Collingwood for about 120 years. They deserve nothing.

    Geelong tonight were a disgrace.

Geelong let the football world down last night.. we relied on them to wipe the Pies out but they just were not up to it. If it wasn't for Ablett they would have been obliterated. Its hard to tell if the Pies were that good or Geelong was that bad. It sucks that I have to say that the Pies were pretty damn good last night and of all nights, why did they have to get their kicking go thru? All year they have had accuracy issues and the one week we could have really done with that inaccuracy, they straighten up.. I am sooooo glad I am not in Melbourne right now. It must be absolutely intolerable with all those black and white mongrels gloating.... lets hope they are firmly shut up by 5pm next Saturday!!

  12. Sorry you missed it too.

It was jam packed and everyone was having a great time. Not enough staff to cope with the bar tho so many went downstairs to get drinks. It was just that tight. Players were great and got man handled.

Chip also won man of the match which I was a little reluctant to announce seeing we sponsored him but he did a brilliant job on Brown and closely followed by Sylvia and Garland.

Hon mentions to our young boys Scully and Watts.

Next year hopefully we will get a day game as these nights just kill attendances but I must say I dont know how many more we could fit in to the room.

  13. Whilst being a realist, I have come to the conclusion that our team are tending to win or go close to teams noone gives us a brass razoo's chance of winning. When we play teams on a similar level or lower we just throw all our hard work, our tackling and our committment out the window. They cant seem to psyche themselves up for those games so if you follow that philosophy, we should have a pretty fair chance of having a respectable result. Maybe even better than respectable.

Alas, with our bad starts of late we are certainly making things hard for ourselves when trying to catch up. Catch up footy against any team is hard but against a disciplined team like the Saints well it could be suicide.

I am hoping for an effort similar but perhaps even better than those played against the Pies this year - what will we get??? Well hopefully nothing like Hawthorn or even Adelaide last week thanks very much.

Whats against us? Under-performing forward line, inexperience, Ethiad Stadium and twilight games.

Whats for us? Scully, Trengove, Moloney, Jamar, Grimes, Frawley, Davey and a team growing and learning together.

Will it be enough?? Probably not but where there is life there is hope and if you dont dream, you die.

  14. As far as Sam's theory went, I didn't hate it. Don't agree with reducing the players to prevent diminishing the quality of the AFLs gene pool when GC and GWs come in. I did like his other two theories though... Especially the no kicking backwards rule. I know it was trialled in the NAB cup a while back, but IMO that was one rule that should have stayed on for the season proper.

As far as the footy show goes in general, I don't know why I bother most weeks. It's usually drivel aimed at the lowest common denominator (I refer you all to the 'hillarious' footage of a dog rooting a footy that was shown tonight). I much prefer the Sunday Footy Show. It has many of the same faces as the Thursday show, yet it is actually worth watching. They aren't all pre-occupied with being massive dicks. They still have a good laugh, and it's funny, but they also actually talk footy. A good way to spend a seedy Sunday morning.

You are lucky you get the Sunday show. All we get up here is Rugby and I just cant stand the game. Ridiculous waste of time. I dont watch footy show much but tuned in just in case something about Tommy might have come up and see who was on the panel. Once the Melbourne game was over, I tuned out.
