  1. Finally, some good news 😁 the Board has made the correct decision. Now don't stuff up the recruitment of the next Senior Coach. Both my teams have been rubbish for a few seasons now, and both are in the market for a new Senior Coach. At least this is the first step in healing the supporters pain.
  2. The Eagles came last in both the AFL and WAFL! This season is not a total disappointment.
  3. I wish I could drink such a wonderful thing! But we lost to East Perth on the weekend after being about 5 goals in the lead at half time at our home ground in Joondalup. Nothing taste any good after this horror!
  4. Sounds like the 57 year plan we had for our last flag. The danger with losing is it becomes the norm. Better to have a winning culture and it makes recruiting and retention of top players much easier. Not to mention the impact on the clubs supporters and revenue generation.
  5. I was going to respond to your post in a passionate thoughtful way. But currently, I have lost interest as the club appears not interested in making the hard decisions 🤔 to become successful again. The club is achieving a worst performance each season since 2021. This includes the lost of four final games in a row, this was when the club was able to play finals. I get the feeling, the club will take awhile before it can play finals again. Unfortunately, the same thing is happening with my WAFL team. Life just sucks, but the Coach was replaced and the team is playing better. Baby steps. I suspect there must be a few internal issues happening in the club and the recruitment of a CEO who has no industry experience and was in no rush to take on the role will not help!
  6. Its a Grand Old Flag is also the club song for West Perth (WAFL). Which is a good thing as I only need to remember one song for both my AFL and WAFL teams. I just a simple country boy after all. To be honest, when I stopped supporting the Eagles back in 1998 because they started the host club arrangement in the WAFL. I started supporting Melbourne because it was red and blue, the same colours as West Perth. So I don't sing the Dees song, I was singing the Falcons (West Perth) song. Which I love to do after a win. You should have heard me singing the song when we beat the Fremantle Dockers Reserve WAFL side (PEEL Thunder) two weeks before under our new coach. My dislike for the Eagles and Dockers is strong as they have damaged the WAFL by making super teams. They have all the current AFL players with a ton of coaches. Last season PEEL won the flag, I wonder why?
  7. J Hunt a former Melbourne player, was playing Reserves for the Eagles on Saturday. They lost but he was third best on ground for the Eagles. So I got to sing It's a Grand Old Flag again.
  8. I can live with that. Never been a big fan of midseason coaching changes.
  9. Well there will be more seasons like this one to come Red! At least my WAFL club saw this type of danger and took the brave decision to part ways with its senior coach. We had a hugh win on the weekend as a result. While it was sad a club champion lost his position, the club needed to make the change. Beating a host club is always satisfying.
  10. No one can beat a Japanese Game Show! They are AWESOME 😎
  11. Tasmania is the only State without an AFL team.
  12. Even my brother in law who is an ex Victorian and a loyal Saint Kilda supporter did not enjoy the game and they won! Words fail me about our performance, but I think there is a solution. But it may not be a popular one. While this season will be a write off, maybe 2028 will be a better one for us provide we can recruit and retain better quality forwards who can kick straight. Or accurately around the corner which is the Modern way of playing football. The Japanese do strange and weird things! I don't understand why anyone would put a banana in cellophane. It just doesn't make sense to this simple country boy.
  13. So whats up with the new Tasmanian AFL club? I just saw some lady on YouTube crying about the club may not make it to the AFL.
  14. He got recruited by Collingwood
  15. The issue is likely both the players and coaches but the accountability always stops at the head coach. Plus he come to us via Essendon, that's reason enough to replace him. We should NEVER recruit players and staff from Essendon/Collingwood (excluding Jackson). It generally ends badly for us.
  16. Retention and recruitment will definitely improve if we can win a finals match or two let alone a GF or three. Since Melbourne is falling down the ladder, I feel there needs to be some major changes in the football department before we can turn the slide around. I guess this is another, time will tell situation. This season appears to be a write off. So I hope the 2026 season shows some improvement for us.
  17. Maybe, but replacing the Head Coach would be quicker and less painful. So come join us Red, the Dark Side is calling. You know that you want too!
  18. Based on the past 3 seasons, we should replace the head coach. So if you're not into sacking Goody, what do you think about an early retirement 🤔 at the end of this season. One or two good games should not be enough to save him, but we are Melbourne so maybe it is. IMO a successful season is one that involves winning another flag, anything else is just background noise. We only won one flag in the past sixty seasons! I feel it time for another four or five GF wins, so Red come and join the Dark Side before it's too late.
  19. Hope you are well? I been focusing on attending live WAFL games as I only have to travel to Joondalup. I live South of Perth and Joondalup is North. Why do I support clubs that are so far away from where I live 😕 😒 😢 🤔 Well when you support the best you can forget the rest. Unfortunately, it looks like Melbourne is falling apart again. Personally finding it hard to understand why we lost four finals games in a row. So I have been keeping a low profile lately. Oh my WAFL team is playing poorly as well. But we are getting an expensive electronic scoreboard so there is that.
  20. Did someone say CEO?
  21. Will it be four in a row or are the football gods still angry?
  22. Did your spikes scare her?
  23. Always a good day when the Eagles lose.
  24. The reason I have taken such an interest about this appointment is because I been a CEO myself and was in that role when I had my stroke. There is a lot of pressure/expectations on a CEO and rightfully so. During my working career, I had to rebuild organisations due to poor inexperienced senior management decisions which was the result of selecting the wrong CEO. It will take years to recover from this type of mistake, if not longer, which is likely to result in brand damage, loss of experienced and skilled staff etc. The result of making the right decision with regards to the appointment of the CEO is the club is much more likely to achieve and sustain success. The difficulty with this appointment IMO is his inability to show success in the role as a football club CEO. I don't know our new CEO, but the clubs interview with him didn't make a good impression on me. But as we both agree only time will tell if this appointment is value adding to the club or not. So all I can say now is GO THE DEES!
  25. He can't be that experienced as he has never managed a football club before. A strong leader has a solid understanding of the industry they manage. Oh well, time will tell if he any good or not, but I have a feeling we lost another opportunity.
