I think you nailed it with the bolded bit.

I was certainly of the same opinion. They also do some fantastic and positive things. So can the Demons

No one can beat a Japanese Game Show! They are AWESOME 😎

Im feeling a bit remote being in Japan at present.

Upside is I am having plenty of time to review Dland, (or unfortunate for Picket fence who I have been trying to get to training and see if he can improve kicking) however.......

I was surprised to see, in the fresh fruit market of Kanasawa (along with some mysterious items that may have been fruit, vegetable, mineral or plastic facsimiles) all labelled in JApanese (a language as foreign to me as Collingwood praise) bananas wrapped in cellophane. They were wrapped individually in packs of two and packs of three.

I purchased a pack of two but couldnt release them from the cellophane. The wonderful sales person, (seeing my difficulty) cut the wrapping with a fine shinto blade and with much gesturing and pointing, instructed and assisted me in the disposal of the wrapping and the peel. Every aspect of the transaction was done with such authority and efficiency that I feel she could assist the players in goal kicking, Alternatively she could immediately take over the Lever role in the back line< her gesturing was very much above par.

Even my brother in law who is an ex Victorian and a loyal Saint Kilda supporter did not enjoy the game and they won! Words fail me about our performance, but I think there is a solution. But it may not be a popular one.

While this season will be a write off, maybe 2028 will be a better one for us provide we can recruit and retain better quality forwards who can kick straight. Or accurately around the corner which is the Modern way of playing football.

The Japanese do strange and weird things! I don't understand why anyone would put a banana in cellophane. It just doesn't make sense to this simple country boy.

I am with you froggy. We have been massive under achievers since 21. However i think it is as much the loss of players as Goodwin's ability. Jackson replaced by JVR a big loss. Brown replaced by no one another big loss. Brawshaw loss replaced by a couple of kids who are showing promise. Clarry went missing for two seasons with mental problems. Smith gone forever with nose problems. The start of this year what was that? Players or coaching.

The issue is likely both the players and coaches but the accountability always stops at the head coach. Plus he come to us via Essendon, that's reason enough to replace him.

We should NEVER recruit players and staff from Essendon/Collingwood (excluding Jackson). It generally ends badly for us.

The fact I now like the game style and that so many players are invested in the Coach, including players we want to keep and even players we want to get, to move him on now could be a backwards step.

Retention and recruitment will definitely improve if we can win a finals match or two let alone a GF or three. Since Melbourne is falling down the ladder, I feel there needs to be some major changes in the football department before we can turn the slide around.

I guess this is another, time will tell situation. This season appears to be a write off. So I hope the 2026 season shows some improvement for us.

I think you need to change lily pads.

Maybe, but replacing the Head Coach would be quicker and less painful. So come join us Red, the Dark Side is calling. You know that you want too!

Great win by the boys against the Lions and the sack Goody calls may have stopped for a while.

Time for Uncle Bitters to crack open another wine cask and open the Coles’ cheese slices.

Based on the past 3 seasons, we should replace the head coach. So if you're not into sacking Goody, what do you think about an early retirement πŸ€” at the end of this season. One or two good games should not be enough to save him, but we are Melbourne so maybe it is.

IMO a successful season is one that involves winning another flag, anything else is just background noise. We only won one flag in the past sixty seasons! I feel it time for another four or five GF wins, so Red come and join the Dark Side before it's too late.

Hi DF good to see you in action.

    Hope you are well?

I been focusing on attending live WAFL games as I only have to travel to Joondalup. I live South of Perth and Joondalup is North. Why do I support clubs that are so far away from where I live πŸ˜• πŸ˜’ 😒 πŸ€” Well when you support the best you can forget the rest.

Unfortunately, it looks like Melbourne is falling apart again. Personally finding it hard to understand why we lost four finals games in a row. So I have been keeping a low profile lately.

Oh my WAFL team is playing poorly as well. But we are getting an expensive electronic scoreboard so there is that.

I was loitering in Lancefield today when this senior lady asked me if i'd escort her across the road as she was feeling " a little shaky".

Ever the gentleman , your good old Uncle Bitter assented. The good lady noticed my Demons polo top and introduced herself as Jake Lever's grandmother.

She was a delightful lady and we had a pleasant conversation about the Dees.

    It was a nice moment.

    Did your spikes scare her?

    Agree time will tell.

The reason I have taken such an interest about this appointment is because I been a CEO myself and was in that role when I had my stroke. There is a lot of pressure/expectations on a CEO and rightfully so.

During my working career, I had to rebuild organisations due to poor inexperienced senior management decisions which was the result of selecting the wrong CEO. It will take years to recover from this type of mistake, if not longer, which is likely to result in brand damage, loss of experienced and skilled staff etc.

The result of making the right decision with regards to the appointment of the CEO is the club is much more likely to achieve and sustain success. The difficulty with this appointment IMO is his inability to show success in the role as a football club CEO.

I don't know our new CEO, but the clubs interview with him didn't make a good impression on me. But as we both agree only time will tell if this appointment is value adding to the club or not.

So all I can say now is GO THE DEES!

Paul is very experienced. Even Eddie was glowing in his praise.

He can't be that experienced as he has never managed a football club before. A strong leader has a solid understanding of the industry they manage. Oh well, time will tell if he any good or not, but I have a feeling we lost another opportunity.

    Anything happening at the Dees?

    We have a new CEO.

Unfortunately he has no football industry knowledge other than being involved in sponsorship and he doesn't know when he can start work. But the current Acting CEO is doing a great job so he not needed right away.

Then why didn't we appoint the current Acting CEO? Then club needs stability not another inexperienced trainee in the top job.

Didn't get to see a lot of him at Casey but do recall he finds a lot of footy.

Reckon he'd make an AFL list DemonFrog?

Only seen him play on streaming, can't wait to see him play live once they stop playing at 7.10 pm. It takes me about 1h 30m to drive to Joondalup Oval, well the wife driving as I have mobility issues.

I think he must have come West to enhance his chances to play AFL. What I have seen so far is exciting 😁 Unfortunately West Perth no longer has any AFL players so if he gets recruited he will be gone.

    Today’s result will be interesting.

A hope for a revival or possibly season over.

Membership numbers could be seriously affected too.

Season been over for us since round two. I still feel that the 2028 AFL is a better time for us.

But on a brighter note West Perth has done well by recruiting a former Casey player. The young fella looks like he can play.
