  1. For the first half maybe but if it's not a close match then people will switch off. The AFL will be looking to pit two evenly matched teams. We would get belted by both Collingwood and Richmond based on 2019 form. Until we can prove that 2018 was not an aberration then we don't factor into evenly matched contests.
  2. Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin is concerned the quality of the AFL could suffer if it reaches a ‘tipping point’ in cuts to its footy department. The AFL confirmed on Tuesday it would limit the expenditure of clubs across the board, with just 25 football department staff allowed for the remainder of 2020. Goodwin is understanding of the need to cut costs due to the coronavirus crisis, but is worried too much cutting could lead to a regression in the quality of footy.
  3. The AFL and channel 7 want as many eyes on the TV as possible. That rules us out at the moment. Until we can recapture late 2018 form regularly we are not attractive to the wider AFL community. MND is a great cause but after weeks of no footy the AFL wants to maximise the audience and we just don't cut it.
  4. South Australia has thrown the AFL’s season restart timeline into doubt, telling the league it will not be providing quarantine exemptions to Adelaide and Port Adelaide players.
  5. Obviously not. Although my favourite story is about the first one. My family sponsors Max and it was his first match. When he got the ball in the goal square and was ready to kick what would surely be a certain goal. My family proudly claimed him as our own for all that would listen around us. The mostly Essendon fans around us laughed and laughed when he missed and rightly so. I would ahve done the same to them. Of course we thought we'd never live that moment down but I guess 3 All Australians and a Captaincy later we've had the last laugh.
