  5. A friend of mine is a Doggies supporter and he liked a post by the official Bulldogs page so it came up on my feed. Reading through the posts most Doggies fans claim we won because of the umpires. I guess even the supporters are suffering from a hangover.
  6. Now everyone is trying to get in on the act. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-19/beams-considers-twitter-attack-to-get-under-best-mates-skin
  7. I guess turnovers/clangers are going to be part and parcel of the brand of football that we play. As the OP stated the fact that we had more clangers but still won by 10 goals speaks volumes.
  8. You are not alone there. I hope that once Jesse returns we don't become too Hogan-centric and continue to find the other avenues to scoring that have seen us through the past few months.
  9. pesticles. I like it. Mind if I use it on the next Demonland Podcast. Credit will be given.
  10. I only care where we are at the end of Round 23. 5th at Round 13 doesn't really count if we are outside the 8 come September. This year feels different. Smells different too.

  15. Surely clickbait is fair game.
  16. No worries mate. I have never been overly critical of OMac. He has made errors as any kid thrust into the position before they were ready (IMHO) would be but I understand why the powers that be decided to persist with Oscar over some more experienced heads in Dunn and Garland (last year). That faith has started to pay off and this week was the culmination of that. He will only get better and better as will his decision making. As I said I am not an expert. I suffer from MFCSS so it is often hard for me to see silver linings. Omac was wrapped in Gold yesterday. Please do call in. That goes to everyone else. We want to hear from other Demonlanders. We all have different opinions but we're all Demons.
  17. I agree with this. We were barely heard when we kicked a goal. Bulldogs seriously out numbered us.
  18. I called his first half (against the Pies) how I saw it. He made a couple of crucial errors which have been a big part of his game since he came in. I gave credit where credit was dues when I applauded his second half. It wasn't that he was outstanding, he simply did not fuck it up. I did not watch the first half replay as I am not a sadist so my analysis was based on the emotions of the game. I never claimed to be an expert and if you would like to contribute to the program please call in. We would love to hear different views from different supporters. We are fans not experts. Omac was excellent against the Dogs.

Comments from Goodwin and Rawlings are interesting. They don't necessarily understand or condone it but they are not concerned by it.

  21. In a tight contest played on a cold night and in slippery conditions when the lead never stretched beyond the final 13 point margin, a little known Casey footballer was one of only two on the ground to score multiple goals. It was journeyman Yilber Zijai's three goals that made all the difference in the VFL 2016 grand final replay against Footscray to make it four wins in a row for the rapidly rising Demons at Casey Fields on Saturday night. Zijai who previously played 27 VFL games for the Sandringham Zebras over a four-year period moved to Eastern FL club Noble Park last year and was recruited to the Demons along with the returning Mitch Gent at the start of this year. He injured a calf in the opening match of the season and this was only his second senior game for the club. His third goal, kicked at the fourteen minute mark of the final term, helped break the deadlock between the teams in a tense period of play. Seven minutes later, first gamer Mitch Cox made the game safe for the home side with a goal after a fifty metre penalty. It was a fine effort because the Doggies had 16 AFL-listed players while Casey's team was a far cry from the one that won the minor premiership and contested last year's finals. Gone are the likes of Lynden Dunn, Jack Grimes, Matt Jones, Viv Michie, Ben Newton, and Dean Terlich while Colin Garland is out injured and some of the younger players are now at AFL level. The Demons did gain from some significant contributions of players on the cusp of an AFL recall, especially given the circumstances of the club's multiple six day breaks at this time. Jack Trengove is one "veteran" of last year's campaign who continues to provide inspirational leadership. His 29 disposals through the middle were huge. Jay Kennedy-Harris was again impressive with his work rate continuing a superb run of form in recent weeks. He was on from the beginning, kicked the game's opening goal and amassed 33 disposals and nine tackles. Billy Stretch was in fine touch and all class with 24 possessions and Josh Wagner also put his hand up for recall. Rookie Corey Maynard looks a likely type who has made great strides in the transition from NBA to VFL. On current form, further promotion beckons at some time in the future while James Munro was once again solid and prolific in his ballwinning efforts. Now holding down sixth place on the ladder, Casey faces a challenging encounter with top-of-the-ladder Box Hill Hawks away from home next Saturday afternoon, especially given the likelihood of some players being rested in a rotation to cover Melbourne's interstate trip of a second six-day break. 23. The train trip home following the Melbourne v Doggies match was almost deathly quiet. It was packed with Demon supporters, yet there was little exuberance following the win. Trouble is the fans had no idea what to do now that their team is sitting comfortably in the top eight (in fifth place to be precise), a full game and percentage clear. Their team had just beaten the reigning premier by almost ten goals; it had won its third game in succession and did that coming off a six-day break at a ground where until a little over twelve months ago, it had experienced a long unbroken string of failure. And this with its All Australian ruckman and a serious quality key forward out of action! Wadda we do? The MFCSS is strong, but there must now be the realisation that in season 2017 the Demons are the real deal. It is not too hard to think that but for the couple of close games lost when injury intervened, the team could be well be sitting on top of the AFL ladder! With much hype before the game about the aggressive approach the Demons were going to bring, it was to be quite frank, truly unexpected when that is exactly what Melbourne did. Right from the start (and not after incurring a four goal deficit, as has often been the case this year) the players were right in the faces of the Bulldogs. They were unable to get their swarming forward running going as they were pressured constantly into fumbles and turnovers. Surprisingly, Luke Beveridge failed to respond in any way from the box as he stuck with the same structures throughout the game. Melbourne had a wave of players coming off half-back at centre bounces, while the Bulldogs had either three or four players on the wing. Whichever side the ball came to the Dogs were always a man down. This situation was helped enormously by the great work done in the ruck by primarily Tom McDonald. While the Dogs won the hit out count by 61 to 19, the clearance number was an extraordinary 40 to 34 in the Demons' favour. Clayton Oliver continued his stellar year, and if you watch him carefully he is simply not entitled to get the ball as often as he does. But he is as tough as nails and just keeps on doing it. He then delivers to the runners and the Demons are away. What a contrast to 2 or 3 years ago when Nathan Jones battled manfully alone in the middle. Today with Oliver, Viney, Lewis and others we even saw Simon Goodwin “blooding” Mitch Hannan in the engine room as well. Tom Bugg did exactly what his name suggested and annoyed and pestered the Footscray players to the point where they gifted him a free kick after a Demon goal to score yet another. Not only that but he provided plenty of run and contested marking both up forward and around the ground. When the team plays this well, it is difficult to record the efforts of everyone. But Oscar McDonald was a standout in the backline with 23 disposals, 12 marks and 8 rebounds from defensive 50. Michael Hibberd was equally as unforgiving and stingy with 27 touches 11 marks and 5 rebound 50’s. A special mention to Neville Jetta who doesn’t worry the statisticians too much, but there should be a special stat for “thank goodness Neville was there”, because his spoiling and contesting is simply first rate and he is always where and when needed. There may be some injury concerns, not surprisingly given the brutal aspects that the Demons brought to the game, with Nathan Jones, Jack Watts and Jayden Hunt all taking a battering, but in the cases of Watts and Jones they were afforded the luxury of resting for virtually the whole last quarter. So wadda we do now? In years past, a follow-up game against West Coast in Perth after another six-day break would be a certain flogging. After this game and the style and emphatic display put on by the Demons, the expectations are surely higher. It is the chance to put another bogy to bed with a Perth win, but if it were to happen, then the rest of the competition will really sit up and take notice. And the Demon fans will really find their voices ...
