Jon Ralph is the moron who used his column last week to tell me (and 2 million others) that Chris Connoly is the man to lead the Dees next year. His reasons being 1- he is a ex Melbourne man 2- he is a great marketer. Well f**k me, Im a member and could also market the club well, do i qualify? He forget to mention Connoly was very similar to the Rev- they both thought games of footy could be won with only half the team sticking to the gameplan and the occassional cameo from one of your better players. Both teams problems is mental application. Players calling the shots and being allowed to under perform. The Rev said he did the best he could, if playing the most explosive and dangerous small forward IN THE GAME 100 metres from goal, allowing Trapper and Yze to constantly under perform, instructing Robbo to be the only player never to lay a tackle, and helping Brucey and Green not to reach their potential was part of the plan , he was right. During the week Ralphy boy had another brain explosion, SHEEDS TO DEMONLAND. why didnt i think of it. Yes im fully aware of what Sheeds has done. Winning the flag in 2000 bought him 3-4 more years, since then a slow downwards spiral. Bringing players past their prime to the club, crap draft selections, unable to identify lack of speed in bombers midfield. He has reinvented himself for the last time. The Essenden board didnt even vote on his future because the answer was so blooy obvious. Work for the AFL, be someones mentor, jobs he would excell in , but please stay away from us. As SIMON GODFREY picked himself up of the ground at the SCG after being decked by a cheap shot merchant earlier in the year the problem at the MFC became so evident. NO ONE STOOD UP FOR HIM. NO ONE(Neitz wasnt playing)WHAT A DISGRACE. Not the most gifted, but gives his all every week, GODDERS as was I WAS LET DOWN. HE AND EVERYONE WHO RUNS OUT WITH THE RED AND BLUE SHOULD HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE THAT 17(21) OTHER BLOKES HAVE GOT HIS BACK. IT SHOULD BE A GIVEN. TOUCH ONE OF US AND WE WILL TAKE YOU DOWN. WE WILL NOT BE F**KED WITH,WE TAKE NO PRISONERS, WE ARE THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB. What happened that night was a disgrace. Our players dont understand that 100% is required for four quarters. We must play games out, even when a loss is on the cards. If i here one more time we must not appoint a untried coach..... as i have said on previous posts dont play the kids THEYRE UNTRIED.

IF WE CHOOSE THE WRONG COACH TO LEAD US INTO OUR 150 YEAR CELEBRATION THE AFL WOULD BE BETTER SERVED HAVING A BYE EACH WEEK

CUT THE CRAP AND GIVE BLUEY MCKENNA THE JOB. THE MAN HAS WON TWO FLAGS AND LEARNT THE TRADE UNDER A PRETTY HANDY MAN.HE WOULD HAVE US PLAYING AS A TEAM AND PLAYING 4 QUARTERS. AND THE PIES CAN WIN INTERSTATE, SOMETHING WE CANT DO WHEN HEADING WEST OF THE BORDER.

I FORGOT TO MENTION I HAVNT PLAYED FOOTY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL SO WHAT WOULD I KNOW

What is it about Bluey Mckenna? Is it the red hair - a reincarnation of Norm? His record as coach of Claremont wasn't great, he missed the St Kilda job - Alan Richardson is the man at Collingwood who has fast-tracked the development of the younger players as the development coach. McKenna is grossly overrated by posters on this site. The Pies have not exactly achieved great things since he has been there. Missed finals in 04 and 05, lost in the first week last year and I'm betting they don't get much further than week one this year. Finalists on the strength of a gimme draw.

interesting points u have made.....

which is mostly a bunch of rubbish-

how often is robbo second to the ball? not often.... hence low tackle count

yze has never been inconsistant

there was nothing wrong with rev so if connoly is the same i would not be that disapointed

i do agree that melbourne need to back up there players..... but the inncident u describe is hardly the time a free was paid and it was of the ball there are better tmies for players to back each other up

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
