Footy live on Friday Night?

Featured Replies

Hi I am on the Gold Coast and was wondering if the footy will be shown live on tv? or if I can find that footy tv schedule that was going around for the first 6 rounds?

I too will be in the Gold Coast on the weekend. All I can find is that if you have channel 7 then it is on at 11:30, but if you have Prime it will be on at 7:40pm.

Makes no sense but thats what the channel 7 website says.

Here is the Prime Gold Coast program for Friday.....

It says that the game will be broadcast at 7.30pm

7.30pm 2007 AFL PREMIERSHIP SEASON 'CC' *LIVE* G RND 1: MELBOURNE V ST KILDA

Prime brings you all the action live as MELBOURNE take on ST KILDA at the MCG. Hosted by BRUCE McAVANEY, with expert commentary from DENNIS COMETTI, DAVID SCHARZ, TIM WATSON and RICK OLARENSHAW.

Channel 7 will not be broadcasting the games live on a Friday night into most of NSW and Queensland (as far as I know) because of the rugby league, but the game is live on Foxtel (for what it's worth) on the Main Event channel at 7.30pm.

thats odd about not being live here friday night when the rugby is on channel 9 ,dunno how that works

As I've mentioned in another post - the game will be shown LIVE, on foxtel, through the MAIN EVENT CHANNEL! This will be the case for Sydney and Brisbane subsrcibers. With regards to the Gold Coast, I'm not 100&, but they do get it live on free to air, whether that is through 7 or prime - I'm not too sure!

Cos Channel 7 think that putting AFL footy on against Rugby will mean slaughter in the ratings. That is probably true given most sport fans in Brisbane would be watching the NRL. They reckon they'll get a bigger audience and more advertising revenue by showing a movie.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO awesome!

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
