Who's not pullin' their Weight?

The point about being undersize is spot on. Have a look at Grimes playing against Dangerfield. Grimes looks like he's a matchstick in comparison.

Howe, Watts, Grimes, Fitzpatrick and many others besides (including players no longer on our list, such as Gysberts and Morton) have, for whatever reason, remained undersize for the roles they are asked to play. I can't believe they are all just born with the type of metabolism which prevents them from bulking up.

parts of the old culture have remained for decades... & are still in the inner ether as we speak. even Robbie wasn't too keen on weights, he said himself.

But we need to see that change takes place, & we have to highlight those who aren't doing 100% to help Lift.

I'm not sure whether any inability to improve their physical size is solely the responsibility of the players. The club provides the players with the training facilities, dietary advice, probably supplements (I mean legal ones) and instructions on what needs to be developed. I fear that our instructions in the early years of some of these players (essentially the Bailey years) failed the players.

No, its a part of the culture that has existed for a long long time. but back pre 1985, the club just didn't have the room or facilities to have a proper gymnasium/weights room. So there was an easy out for those who detested pushing Iron.

I'm sure that still exists in the sub-culture around the place still today. (part of the reason for poor development over the years) weak professional attitudes.

* while we are on our cultural revolution, lets keep the pressure on it. half a change is a waste of effort, & only leaves the back door unlocked to slide back in.
