Every year, we start off optimistic, swallowing the spin.

Every year we start the season with a flogging and are behind the 8-ball from the outset.

2007 Loss St Kilda 31 point

2008 Loss Hawthorn 104 points

2009 Loss North Melb 34 points

2010 Loss Hawthorn 56 points

2011 DRAW Sydney Yahoo !!

2012 Loss Brisbane 41 points

2013 Loss Port Adelaide 79 points

Fair dinkum - we keep beeing sold the rebuild story, the winning more quarters, the games into the kids - blah blah blah

We employ coaches and recruiters to give us something to hang our hats on - sadly, the results speak volumes for the selections we have made.

We get a lot of the same blah blah blah from posters on this site, yes I agree with what you have above, but what? you didn't agree with Bailey getting sacked and us having to start again, last time we played finals was 7 years ago, Neeld is trying to build for the future so we don't see a run like that again.

Suck it up, nobody is happy with now, but take the long view

I totally agree that Bailey needed to be replaced. I would put it to you however that the latest rebuild has taken us further backwards - we were not close to competitive last year, and have receded even more in 2013. Hard to see any positive at present, except for Jack Viney.

There are a million topics on this board, all relating to the same thing, listen to what Neeld said at his presser this week, I'll paraphrase "our brief when we came in was to rebuild the footy dept from the bottom again" "no I didn't think it would be this hard"

We are going to have a team, but at the weekend we had players when counted together didnt have 20 games total

Why do you think you have not got many replies, you are just going over old ground again

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
