The AFL has decided to scrap a trial of the GPS in the Footy Technology which would assist clubs by complementing the data they already receive from the GPS on the players.

The link below has a video featuring the Dees at training and interviews Neil Craig who is a big fan of the technology.

If you are into conspiracies it could be inferred from the article that Champion Data, who supply the match stats for the AFL, may have had something to do with the trial being scrapped.
