Carlton ups the ante to lure Collingwood forward Travis Cloke

ARCH-RIVAL Carlton is the latest AFL club to make a mulit-million dollar play to lure Collingwood star Travis Cloke.

It is believed that the Blues have made centre half forward a five-year, $5 million offer should he fall out with the Pies, according to reports in the The Australian.

The 25-year-old will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Cloke, along with his management, is expected to meet with Collingwood president Eddie McGuire and chief executive Gary Pert today.

Cloke wants a new five-year deal worth $4m to stay at Collingwood, but is prepared to accept a four-year deal worth about $900,000 a season.

The News Limited publication understands Cloke is set to reject a multi-million dollar offer from Fremantle.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said the stalemate in contract negotiations had damaged both Cloke and the Magpies' brand.

"I really feel for Travis, because I think his product, or his brand, has been damaged by the way that the last couple of months have panned out and it doesn't help the Collingwood brand either," Buckley said on SEN.

"It's unfortunate but we can't turn time back. We just have to make sure we make the right decision."

Buckley said he was confident of the club being able to retain required players.

Cloke has kicked 33 goals in 14 games this season following a career-best 69 goals in 25 games last season.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
