This isn't exactly a weighty topic, but it's something that's bugged me for a while. Despite the AFL mandating - depending on how powerful your Club is, of course - clash strips, the away team continued to wear white shorts, despite that often causing or exacerbating any clash.

However, I saw the following tagged on to the bottom of an unrelated article:

He also confirmed St Kilda would wear its home strip against Essendon in Sunday's twilight encounter at Etihad Stadium but the Saints would don white shorts with the Bombers to wear red in a bid to deepen the distinction between the sides.

Finally some sense - some effort to remove a clash without mandating a [horrible] clash strip.

We did see North wearing white shorts at home on Saturday though.....
