  1. I've made similar points for years, but according to some on here it's too much to expect a team to come switched on for 22 games a year. Youth isn't the answer/excuse, you nailed it with "cultural".
  2. But the problem is it's not always what we want. If they are guaranteed a game....
  3. Having a strong VFL side doesn't always equate to real AFL depth. Grimes : if not sitting on 98 games would he have even played? His VFL numbers mean little when you consider how long he's been in the system and how they stack up when playing senior footy. Age 27 Newton : 2 games. Age 24 Michie : 4 games. Age 24 Dawes : 6 games (was injured but has been passed by others) Age 28 Garland : 6 games. Age 28 Lamumba : 5 games. Age 29 turning 30 in November. 2 years to run on what we would assume to be a reasonable contract. Concussion issues, may never play again. Spencer : 0 games. Age 27 turning 28 next month. Trengove : 3 games. Age 25. It's a big wait and see. Are any of the above really going to have any kind of substantial impact at the top level at any club again? M Jones, Dunn may get a look in at another club. JKH and ANB both are contracted for next year and could be argued both are still developing. Ben Kennedy would be considered a quality depth player. Yes there are others I may have missed but it's late and I'm tired. When I look at like this I seriously question what depth we really have.
  4. I'd keep Pedo regardless, we're only 1-2 injuries away from trouble, we still lack depth in some areas.
  5. On 3AW tonight there was an interview with someone from the new ticket..... "Would cost over a million to move Hardwick on",
  6. My daughter is interstate, we FaceTime a lot. For me that's the biggest improvement in technology, that and Black Ops on-line team death match.
  7. I'm 38 and also didn't have a clue, I don't hashtag anything, lol, or take selfies. I do have FB for footy stuff and family/friends that live interstate, having said that my 3 best mates don't have FB accounts.
  8. Exacylt yet apparently it takes years for the men to learn a game plan.
  9. Sick of hearing about basketball skills with a link to AFL especially the peripheral because it's absolute garbage. For every player like a Pendles that apparently sees things in slow motion there's 5 players equally as good if not better that didn't play basketball as a junior. Both games are 360 degree but if anything AFL is played more like that, both games are often played in one half of the ground court but you can make the transition a hell of a lot easier in basketball due to the size of the court plus footy has more players and you can get tackled from all angles.
  10. Just spoke to my Swans following mate about Toby Nankervis. - solid ruckman - good mark - decent kick - not real quick - not overly mobile - needs to work on tank, having said that has been in the system for a few years.
  11. Would Toby Naverkis be worth a look? Now behind Tippet, Naismith and Sinclair. I live in Sydney and honestly don't know a lot about him.
  12. Does anyone know if the 16 a side will be how the competition is next year for the woman's league?
  13. I am watching it too and enjoying it. The women certainly put to bed the notion that it takes years to learn a game plan. Exiting, attacking footy which will only improve when the league takes off next year and games become more regular. Also no one has played for a free/ducked their head yet....
  14. I don't see Vickery as a punt, clubs by now know what they're getting.
  15. I got the feeling there was a bit of Mark Neeld about his captaincy.
  16. I heard something on 3AW the other night but didn't catch the whole thing. Something along the lines of his style of captaincy doesn't sit well with certain players, did anyone else here this? Were they referring to the younger players at the club? If that's the case I don't think it's such a big deal.
  17. Yes there is the monetary aspect to this and that is a concern but for me the initial frustration is that all our bigger name recruits of recents years have been unable to take the field for different reasons. Clark, Dawes and now H, but that's footy....
  18. Most depressing part of that article was reading H has two years to run on his contract.
  19. I threw his name up in "who are we chasing thread". Would love to get him but at what cost. Are we prepared to give up our first pick in the 2017 draft and a player?
  20. Inclined to agree. Listening to 3AW tonight talk a leak that Selwood was captain. May be a rumour though, Lloyd was going with it.
