  1. Can you show their predictions again please? I'm going to choke on Dings smugness when I see him next. Would be nice to be able to prepare some comebacks to help me resist the urge to make him swallow his teef.
  2. He certainly does need a bigger body, and the footy department would no doubt be working on that, but I see him differently in that once he decides to tackle, he commits his body to it, and that is a definite step up on another tall forward we had until recently. Also agree with @A F in that his leg speed, or more to the point, his agility is limited. But throwing yourself in when you have the chance is a whole lot better for the team than waiting for someone else to do it. Our guys have seen what full ground pressure can achieve with lists that are far from star studded, and are recruiting accordingly. Young Spargo is another step in that direction. Thing is we have a list that I believe could be described as star studded by the end of next season. If the whole team can commit defensively, we can become feared by the whole comp.
  3. Hogans forward pressure is non existant, and easily the weakest part of his game. He is Russell Robertson like in his ability to give up on a contest once he has lost the ball. I remember someone saying that Tom McDonald was a major underachiever in this area last year also. With these two guys forming our starting key forwards, we have a lot of ground to make up to catch the leading sides. If only our blokes could get it through their heads that we have some amazing ground ball players in the forward line, who can carve sides up if given repeated opportunities to get their hands on the ball. Hannan, Garlett Petracca and Neal_Bullen have great goal sense, both in scoring, and score assists. Just a handful of extra opportunities per game could change our ladder position dramatically. I think this might be one of the attractions with Weideman, as he shows a willingness to throw his body into defensive situations.
  4. Bernie Vince to be dropped more than once based on form, and delisted at years end. Jesse Hogan to win our goalkicking, but Tom McDonald prevented from doing so only because of stints in the ruck. Cam Pederson to play less games than most expect, as Weideman is developed.. Clayton Oliver to be top 5 in Brownlow, dual club champion, and All Australian. Petracca to begin his transition into the midfield. We get easily beaten by Geelong in the first round, and end up finishing 6th, winning our first final. We finally win a game against Norf. Delisted: Pederson, Vince, Kent, Vandenburg, Wagner, Kennedy-Harris Pickups: Gaff as free agent.
  5. You didn't need the "Time will tell" option. This is Demonland, and most have made up their minds already. I'm going with, they are all superstars, until Saty tells me otherwise.
  6. Reckon you might see Petracca and ANB spend more time running through the middle once Vince/Lewis are moved on. ANB certainly has the tank to be a full time mid, and developed wonderfully last year. Melksham also has stints on ball. We will also pick up more midfield talent over the next 2 years to replace the retirees. Love Pettys highlights video. He seems to have something our current Tall Backs lack, and that is a nice accurate kick (yeah I know, its highlights only). While Oscar no doubt improved through the season, I think its nice to have a developing Key Back who can actually be given real time to do just that, rather than being thrown to the wolves against the current forward line monsters who are in most teams now. Fritsch to me is interesting, in that he has a monster left leg on him, meaning he can roam a bit further from goal and still be a threat. That successful set shot for goal from inside the centre square in his vid was amazing. I prefer Hannan closer to goal. Deep forward pocket. He has an amazing ability to get boot to ball, and an innate sense of where the goals are. Possibly look for Fritsch to play the Petracca role when Trac has stints on-ball in the coming seasons. Two small forwards drafted in the past 2 drafts, and both described as competitive beasts. At least we wont be soft targets any more, at least not against everyone but Norf, who seem to have us mentally/physically beaten every time they play us.
  7. This is called putting your balls on the line. Sincerely hope you are wrong L36, but kudos nonetheless. I once played footy against a bloke called Shane Naylor, who went on to be Australian 100m champion. Caught and brought him to the ground, then wondered what on earth the fuss was about. So glad I didn't predict he would be a slug.
  8. Drinking goon on draft night usually ends in tears, vomit, or posts such as this.
  9. Respect or reverence paid or rendered: In his speech he paid homage to Washington and Jefferson Do you mean "umbrage"? offence or annoyance. "she took umbrage at his remarks"
  10. At his height, if you are not a competitor, you are unlikely to be playing in the comp. I recall reading the same thing about Sylvia before he was drafted. "competitive beast" was the claim. Nope. Hi Spargo's. You are now Red & Blue, and part of our family. Enjoy the ride, and tell your boy to unleash everything he has.
  11. I first thought that Brisbane would have all of the inside knowledge of this kid, and that picking him would be a stretch, but then I remembered Brisbanes recent drafting record. Absolutely love the highlights vid. His run is incredible, as is his kicking at speed. A rarity. On his highlights, I say not half back, but wing for mine, as it didn't show any defensive work. Welcome to the Dees Oskar, and the Baker family. Hope you can become immersed in the oldest club in the land. Please keep your son off Demonland if he is not considered starting 18 in round 1. It gets a bit ugly on here.
  12. He's a feminist drug cheat?
  13. The AFL is not the Peoples Moral Police. If pokies are legal, they ought to keep their damn noses out of the clubs business. It's bad enough they send the poorer clubs all over the land, in the crap timeslots, then make a song and dance over equalisation funds. To then tell a poor club such as ours to ditch our best revenue stream outside membership/major sponsors, would be feel good politics and nothing more.
  14. Some posters will even have a glowing opinion written already, with only the 4 new names to be inserted.
  15. The morals police are out again. ffs, have your EVER heard of personal responsibility? Tell me what difference it will make to a gambling addict, if we remove our machines? The only thing that it would impact positively is your "feelings"
  16. Can't understand why I'm excited about it. I'll be sitting on the edge of my couch when our picks come around, heart rate climbing, maybe a bit of sweat on the brow, in nervous anticipation of picking up 4 blokes I have never heard of, and know nothing about.
  17. Because consecutive is spelt without a q. Maybe thats the French spelling.?
  18. Interesting. Could not see Lewis missing out on the starting 18 come rd 1 He has a fair point with Salem, although he showed glimpses of fantastic talent in his last couple of games. I think Salem can be starting 18 if over his illness, as he finds a lot of the ball when fit/in form. ANB played his way to a first 18 spot also, in my eyes. But with the 4 interchange spots not named, we would be arguing over guesses, as any of our preferences could be on the bench.
  19. Can't see any other reason for it. They looked ripped don't they? Pagans paddock role for Jesse? Dion J is no whippet though. Quite sizeable through the guns. Hope he can play.
  20. Jake will no doubt be overwhelmed by the attention his debut appearance in Dees colours generated. What happened to our track watchers? This thread is all heading, zero content.
  21. Stereotypes on the downtrodden? It's an interesting world isn't it. I'm heading to the Philippines next April, to (among other things involving family) perform volunteer work providing free medical supplies to the downtrodden in my old home town. It's one of the things I enjoy doing. Will post some picks for you. It's easy for many of us to label/judge others on the site based on rantings. The reality is often different. Being a right winger doesnt prevent you from looking out for your fellow man totally.
  22. No couch here lefty. I'm in the gym, after a productive day blasting the overburden at my coal mine. Great industry coal. Looking forward to Pauline building a new coal power plane nearby sometime soon. Even married gays need electricity. If you don't want a reply, don't include me in your generalisations.
  23. Again, I replied to a post from Deiter. I didn't change any subject. Cool your heels, and understand that you lefties don't own the rights to every argument. The moral grandstanding is embarrassing. Now slink back to your protest, and resume your "hey hey ho ho" chants.
  24. Before you accuse me of changing the subject, pull the fat back from your pinko eyes, and have a look at the post I replied to. It was one of your lefty clan who brought it up first. And it's cowardly lefties who want to throw the countries legs open to whoever wants to pay their way around the world to sink their mitts into our hand out culture at the expense of the native population. Wow, hysterical ranting isn't that much fun, is it? I thought ssm was inevitable. I always thought that way. Wasn't at all surprised at the Yes vote. I voted no, but until we start getting the wacko ideas brought along for the ride, good luck to same sex couples. Don't forget the pre-nupt.
  25. The Manus and other camps are a smart investment that repays every dollar 10 fold, by keeping a human tide of welfare recipients out of the country. And please explain to us the proxy wars that we are fighting on behalf of a non-participating U.S ?
