  1. If you love footy, you love Robbie Flower..... and you sort of have to love Rod Grinter. It’s a rough game, too rough for me to play. But Grinter is as much a part of what makes the game special as is Jezza or Osborne or Stretch or any of the many other ‘artists’ who have the guts to play.

I loved Grinter when he played. Or rather, I was glad he played for us not against us. But  his type of game, is one of the reasons, I never had the guts to play!

Great to hear from him. Good interview

  2. This is the sort of story that the club and players has to turn into a positive

The club has to respond by being the toughest, hardest, meanest, nastiest team of ex-con tough nuts the league has ever seen.

That is the only way forward. And when we are that team, this little nonsense will be put in perspective. The only way out of this is to now train longer harder and smarter than they ever have.

Im not too fussed. It’s what we do now that matters

  3. Lucky be damned

As no better coach then the great man  Napoleon Bonaparte himself said

'I would rather have a general who is lucky than one who is good'

The 'post football' career of footballers is worthy of study.... the 'tradesman' footballers often seem to benefit more than the gifted, with exceptions of course.

Joel MacDonald is listed on the stock exchange. James Hird I saw the other day promoting chocolate in a super market..... go figure.

    I'm not coping

Sunday I couldn't listen to the last quarter. I went for a walk .... (seriously) ..... came back, ..and we'd won!!!

And now, the threat of finals

...... For years I haven't had to worry about this.... Im outside my demon comfort zone

    And  I'm,... loving it!

  5. its been said already, and not all agree and thats fine

But Bugg was retaliating, and way way too crudely and carelessly, and he should not have done that, and he was stupid. He will take his 5 weeks (because we are Melbourne it will be 6) and come back next year.

He is NO Barry Hall,  He is NO Carl Deitrich, He is NO Leigh Mathews. He is NOT a thug

But he is a little bit aggro.  And he will receive a premiership medallion with us

    And I love it

  8. Got to feel for his Mum

Fortunately the prognosis sounds as good as it could be. Thank heavens he had a medical team that he trusted and who he spoke to earlyon . We can sit on these things for way too long out of shyness/ denial. Well done Jesse and the club and good luck

See you next year for the Coleman and a Premiership

A bit of an aside, skirting around the edges as it were, literally, anyone else notice how many players lost their feet near the boundary line ?

The 'carpet' between boundary and fence,  and the closeness of the fence is unsafe. There needs to be some way of softening the fence yet tolerating advertising. Every week someone crashes into the fence. Someone will have a major injury.... in a ground that will be owned by the AFL.

  10. Now THAT is a good signing

    Well done. Fantastic

He has 'nailed his reputation to our mast'

He would not stick around if he didn't think we were going to get there

Well done everyone at the Club.

  11. Decisions dont need to be perfect. They just need to be the best decision you can make at the time. Hindsight is a privilege of those not there at the time the decision was required.

Dawes, and Lamumba; were the best decisions we could have made at the time. We were coming from a long way back, I absolutely agree with those who are suggesting while he didn't quite win the Brownlow, we are much  better club for Dawes having been with us.

He is a fine fellow, tried his hardest, and is welcome back anytime

Sorrento is lucky to have him

  12. An amazing Richmond era. And vale Bily.

How the hell do you drop kick on the run.? Surely it goes 'anywhere' half the time

An amazing skill clearly.... A lost skill

As a kid, in my black plastic Barassi boots, I do remember the power and distance  you could get out of a well timed drop kick .... but mostly they went all over the place and made you look like a goose

    But on the run.... respect!
