  1. Even if we don't win another game we aren't getting a priority pick, we've had a stupidly strong case the last two years for one, and the AFL said no. And our attitude should be win every game, if we win this week, build some confidence and get Viney back we could beat the power in their current form and Collingwood and suddenly we are 5 and 5 and have an easy draw in the second half of the year playing essendope, Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton, the doggies and saints twice and the power, all winnable games Finals aren't out of reach if we bring the effort of round 1,3 and 4 consistently and Jeff starts kicking straight All about confidence and momentum
  2. Wada and rich young do not appeal losing cases, if this isn't sending shock waves through the efc and the afl it should be.
  3. Imagine the hird presser after a guilty verdict! Now that would be amusing to see
  4. Just out of curiosity for the lawyers amoungst us, i assume you'd be paid extra for having to go to switzerland for multiple days, if nothing else this process is going to bleed the bombers dry
  5. I rate ANB as a prospect but for christ sake keep the kid at casey, we're 7 games in and already going away from making players earn their spot
  6. I reckon EFC thought they were off the hook and now they're totally [censored] themselves
  7. I agree, that if they're passed fit there is no excuse, but i think the niggles are the reason, i know Doms Knee has been the issue and i am guessing it's having an effect on his ability to cover the ground quite as well as he otherwise might Jones skills concern me, they have not been an issue on a consistent basis but even he is making basic errors now. strongly dispute the idea they're playing half games, down on form, yes! but they could easily recapture that, Tyson is fumbling balls he'd take cleanly last year, the other thing to remember is that our last 5 weeks have been pouring rain the first two, and then the top 3 teams since, so pressure and weather factors can make guys not look as clean. but i think both are suffering with form rather than going backwards as players, i think the expectation have been raised internally now as they should have been and alot of our guys may not have the belief that they're good enough to be any better than what they have been. Vince i think is on Roos, to me he looks to have gone too far down the path of being defensive and worrying about his opponent and lost a little of his attacking flair Betts is in increadible form at the moment and only a couple of weeks ago Jetta held him goalless so his best is extremely good, but as you say may be a little inconsistent, but considering where he has come from, i'd certainly take that. I think pedersons success has come from finally having a role in the side to nail down and a consistent message, which Roos has bought to the table. i find your last point interesting, they can't execute footy basics, they can't chase, tackle shepard, man up show effort or care, you don't get to the AFL without being able to do those things, i'd suggest this is not something you can point at Paul Roos and say this is 100% his fault, it's Roos job to get them up mentally, but i think alot of the issues rest with the player inability to give consistent effort, there is nothing Roos could say or do if the players don't have the right attitude. i still believe there is plenty of scars on this group, and our list is just simply a mix of really young and our older blokes are not the sort of players capable of carrying 10 plus under 50 gamers week in week out, which is why the effort is so incosnsitent
  8. I'd suggest context is a pretty important thing, i was responding to the suggestion we hadn't improved since Roos took over with numbers proving that we had, rather than voicing my opinion on my satisfaction with the level of improvement.
  9. I would not be at all surprised if the idea of walking away from the game hasn't crossed jacks mind, maybe going to an interstate team with less media attention would be the best thing for the kid, i know his efforts aren't great at times but what he cops is just beyond ridiculous.
  10. Totally agree, i see Tyson as a player i expect to become a genuine A grader for us, and even though he has started the year slowly he has still been okay this year imo, i certainly would have him in the first dozen picked each week
  11. Assuming fitness OUT: Toumpas, Salem, Dawes, Spencer, Stretch IN: Watts, Riley, Viney, Hogan, Jamar
  12. Nathan Jones and Dom Tyson are carrying injuries, or at least have been Lynden Dunn is down on form but is still a good leader and easily best 22 Nev Jetta started the year well before injury and Pederson played probably his best game for the club on the weekend, but the addition of Hogan to the rotations has pushed him back in the pecking order I don't believe any of these players have genuinely gone backwards, Tyson and Dunn to me have both had a drop off in form based on 2014 but Dunn could have been All Australian, and Tyson was playing increadible footy considering his age/experience, i think they'll recapture that, i know Dom is playing through a bit of pain relating to his knee, and is a bit down on form and a little fumbly because of that.
  13. Anyone seen a piece of paper? it's labeled Thymomodulin and has some player names on it, a guy i know named James seems to think it will somehow clear his name?
  14. His old man is still an active member and goes to a lot of our games, Dion would be a great get, and someone i know the club has kept tabs on, i wouldn't be surprised if we're already getting in his ear. GCS would be reluctant to let him go cheaply
  15. Well done Curry Dunn: went from barely able to establish a spot in the best 22 to vice captain Jetta: went from Delisted to imo in our most important 10 players N.Jones: finished last year averaging 28 disposals a game and stiff not to be All Australian Tyson: went from in and out of the team at the Giants to averaging 24 touches and a goal a game inc 14 brownlow votes Pederson: went from a spud who didn't look AFL standard to a guy who can come in and play a role for the team.
  16. IMO our best 22 going into 2016 Jetta Frost Dunn Salem Mcdonald ???? Vince Viney Lamumba Petracca Hogan Kennedy-Harris Garlett ?????? Kent ?????? Tyson Jones Brayshaw ?????? ????? Stretch Note: if fit Trengove probably takes a spot on the bench
  17. well actually since he took over he has increased our win ratio by 50% increased our % by 30% taken us from the worst defensive team in the comp to top 8 and seen several individuals take their game to new levels despite current form, based on the body of work over the past 18 months Dunn, Jetta, Mcdonald, N.jones, Tyson, Viney, Pederson, Kent have all improved significantly as players and the young talent bought in since are progressing well we have also lost just one game by 100 points or more in the past 18 months, and only 2 by 80 or more, compared to more than ten of those losses in the previous 18 months but hey, who wants to let the truth get in the way of a good story?
  18. Jimmy is an interesting case, looks good at casey and in practice matches but the moment the tempo goes up he struggles, looks to me like a kid playing out of his depth at times. i'd love to see him develop into a really good player, and i think he might but i am starting to think maybe that won't be with us, his type of player is probably the cherry on top of a cake that we are still baking we need the raw ingrediants to take a shape, guys like brayshaw who chase, tackle and give effort regardless of the score
  19. I reckon this is what is happening, Roos will make the tough calls, hopefully get rid of the blokes who aren't serious and take some hits knowing he isn't going to be sacked regardless, and hopefully hand over to Goodwin a list that can go somewhere, i think our best is pretty good, but we really have to stop these lapses
  20. Just in response to the comparison between neeld and Roos In neelds year and a half in charge we won 6 games 5 against expansion sides who were easy beats Lost more than 10 games of 30 odd by 80 points or more Since Roos took over we have won 6 games, with only 2 80 point or more losses, beaten Richmond twice, the crows over there, the Suns, bombers and Carlton as well as seriously pushed the undefeated crows this year, port twice last year, the doggies twice last year and others So the improvement is there, and the comparison is ridiculous and a knee jerk response to a disappointing loss
  21. Also a coach looking at the door can't be a good thing for the players, i feel he could only ever be 90% committed to the cause, how could you be more if you weren't desperate to stay
  22. Roos is doing what McCartney did for the dogs, teaching them about defence and contested ball, beveridge took over a really well built foundation, Roos took over a train wreck i also think a lot of our ball movement issues are to do with blokes up the field not running hard enough to create options, and our ruckman and talls besides Jesse not being good enough to take a contested grab around the ground Goodwin will bring a more attacking flair to our game, he already has but he'll take over a team that knows how to defend, how to play finals footy and has some serious development into our young guys
  23. Agreed Ron, but I didn't feel he ran hard enough to expose any lack of fitness anyways, maybe better to say he's looking forward to testing himself against chip
  24. In: blokes willing to chase, tackle, fight and respect the jumper they're wearing. Out: anyone who isn't. In all seriousness though I reckon Brayshaw may need a spell this week, he looks a bit tired to me
  25. Loved how he also said he'd try and expose chips lack of fitness only to lose the duel comprehensively.
