MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
GWS will do that to a lot of teams this year, but we are starting to put together our own list of players who can run and carry the ball at pace, and a good number of those have been named this weekend -

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016

Hopefully Lumumba shows us a bit more of why we got him over, bit of run and carry should go really well with our game plan at the minute. Predictions.. Tyson to bounce back to his best and have 30 touches and a goal Bernie Vince to tag Goddard out of the game but also have a bit of the ball himself Jeff Garlett to kick 8 Christian Salem to have his best game in red and blue James harmes to get 20 odd touches and a couple of goals and give us back to back wins and back to back rising star nominations -
I suppose the thing that the Perth clubs would have to consider is does WCE have the cap space to fit him in? and how much are they willing to give up in a trade, i'd say a bloke of Jesses talent is worth a couple of first rounders and a player or something crazy like that, especially if both teams are at the pointy end and the first rounders are only picks 15 or 16 or whatever The biggest thing with Freo is they have stuff all good young talent coming through, a bunch of ageing stars and can't afford to give up two consecutive first round picks unless they're willing to fall away hard, which Jesse wouldn't be keen on. and could WCE afford him? and would they be willing to give up say Gaff and a couple of picks, i'd have thought they'd do that deal in a heart beat to pair up Jesse, Kennedy and Darling in the same forward line.

Not sure they have much choice, he was one of their best on the weekend -
3. Viney 2. TMac 1. Ward only have TMAC ahead because he was in the winning side, those could swap around

In fairness to them, their centre line looks OK.. Goddard Zaharakis Merritt the rest is rubbish. would have thought Parish was a long way off being able to compete on the inside with any of our mids. -

How about the bench Bugg, Brayshaw, Oliver, Kennedy... few hard nuts, any year of the past 10 i reckon all 4 of them would have been starting 18 without question -

I am tipping a dean kent 5 goal haul

Watts wants to stay but will explore free agency.

He hasn't signed on again yet, it's as simple as keep this form up and he'll get a new contract, if he doesn't he can look elsewhere, the club owes him nothing, he's had plenty of time to show something and has only ever shown patches. -
depends, do we see the sooky looking for free kicks Jack Rewlodt clone or the real Jesse Hogan, 4 quarters like his last against the Giants he could kick 10, otherwise he could kick 0.5 and have 7 touches.
-
I suppose the big difference would be Jesse is going to be in the top few % of highest paid players in the comp, the CBA could mean a pretty big difference contract wise for an in demand player like that. Sidebottom by all accounts has a crazy good contract at Collingwood so he may well have felt he wouldn't get much better

lol headline grabbing.. it's rubbish

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
we don't have a brilliant record in games we should win, so it's always a bit of a worry but really confident we've turned a corner and the boys will be keen to serve back some of the punishment we've copped the last 10 years and give them a hiding, hope Jack Viney picks up where he left off, he's really showing some great signs at the minute -
I'm not sure i can recall him taking many marks at all, haha jokes aside he does work hard.
-
Correct, we bid pick 2 for Heeney and pick 3 for Mills this year
-
Nice in theory but when a bloke is consistently dropping marks you lose confidence in them, that's only natural.
-
the big take away i got was that we shouldn't just assume Dunn will come in for OMAC, he did make mention of the bombers having a fairly short forward line and that being a consideration, i wouldn't be surprised if they go with Brayshaw or Lumumba and play them off half back instead of Dunn

Who's our best chance to win the Rising Star in 2016?
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am quite torn, Oliver was brilliant on the weekend and considering he only played what 60% of the game? but Petracca is a next level talent, Hogan-like. I don't think either will win because i don't think either have the fitness to play more than 15 -17 games this year, but both could be good enough to do it just off that as well. -
If we were able to land either it would be amazing for the club but both would be out of this world, Heppel would be alright as well if he want's a new club haha!
-
Hogan will go up probably the amount freed by Dawes for his next contract, Brayshaw, Petracca and Oliver will want decent coin, as will Tyson and Tmac, Vince is reportedly going to be getting more money. I am sure the club will be super keen to ensure that all of these guys are secure before offering huge contracts to other players.
-
Nail on the head, and he's not even getting close to what our minimum expectations of him would have been imo, and injury is becoming more and more of a concern.
-
I think he'll get votes, but i'd have thought it'd be 1 vote 3. Viney 2. Mcdonald 1. Ward
-
I didn't think Dom was terrible, i thought there were far worse players on the ground, his disposal is a bit lazy but the coaches will be in his ear about it already no doubt, i think he's to good a player to leave out this early on, if it keeps up i'm sure they'll look at it, but not after round 1 where he had 17 touches and a few score involvements in a good win
