  1. Great result, mid who should be able to have an impact right away and a very talented key forward who if he gets his body right i am backing to be the best player in this draft.
  2. Olisk is going to lose his [censored] if we select Parish at 3
  3. I'd still take a punt on him at 7, his running will improve, i see him as a bit like Jake Stringer in terms of he's a bloody good player but he will slide because of his injury noone has seen it, just little flashes, personally think he'd be top 3 if he'd been fully fit all year.
  4. I don't buy the idea that a club that has hardly leaked anything in a long while now has suddenly spilled the first draft selection a few days out from the draft. if we take Oliver clearly the recruiting team know what they're doing, personally i think parish is a much better player.
  5. Exactly why having a laugh at that term is a bit silly, it ultimately is a lottery, best available to me is the best player based on exposed form and information regardless of positional needs. when you look at Parish you see a guy who's been consistently good over a long period of time, resulting in two All Australian selections and has shown plenty to suggest he'll be a very good AFL player and is a low risk choice at that selection hence best available option. Sam Weiderman or Charlie Curnow might well be seen as better players in 5 years time, but both could potentially also be flops, curnows had injuries and now a pretty big error of judgement off field and Weiderman has had a very serious injury, so both are risks on that alone, plus on exposed form having seem all three live i am not of the opinion they're as good as Parish as a player for the here and now.
  6. I reckon we have indirectly, Jason Taylor has said we'd take best available at pick 3, i find it hard to consider Weiderman or Curnow as being better players right now outside of a more pressing positional need, Parish at this moment is the best player at that pick imo
  7. Watching to many highlights mate. Parish runs through the centre and opens the game up, takes players on, generally hits his target and brings his team into the game Oliver gets it and bombs long, he's a brute but so was Aiden Riley. Parish to me is an Andrew Gaff clone but better at winning the inside ball, maybe Dan Hannebry Oliver seems to have alot of people seduced by the Cripps/Wines comparisons and not as much on what he's actually done.
  8. Bontempelli was on the radar for alot longer than Oliver has been, Collingwood wanted him that whole year, Oliver didn't look like being drafted at one point. Parish is fast, skillful, can win his own ball, uses it well, makes great decisions and has a body of work to prove he's able to do it consistently. it's a no brainer at pick 3, not against Oliver at 7 but i don't think he's in the same league as Parish having seen both live.
  9. Absolute rubbish, on his best day Parish would run rings around him on the outside and is more than capable on the inside, i wouldn't at all surprised if he slips out of the top 10, impressive sure, but he's come from nowhere, Parish has been All Australian 2 years in a row.
  10. He's worth the risk at pick 7, not pick 3 when a player as good is Parish is an option.
  11. To the ridiculous comparisons between Parish and Toumpas Clayton Oliver averaged 14 contested touches in the TAC cup Parish averaged 13 and 16 uncontested, and was infinitely more damaging on the outside, he's a match winner. plus he's done it 2 years in a row, Oliver has only really had a good half a season, at least Wines had a body of work behind him.
  12. What a load of rubbish, unless Jason Taylor walked in on Parish snorting coke i'd bet my left one he is still the front runner for pick 3, all signs pointing to him
  13. My info on this is that Jesse's manager is doing his job, well aware big offers are going to come, wants jesse to put in another really good year and then squeeze out the best possible deal for his client, could sign for 5 years at a million right now and then find out 12 months later it might have been 8 years at 1.5 when the MFC were a bit more worried. all indications seem to be that he'll stay with us, but he still has 2 years to run and an extension isn't a priority. He's looking at potential forward partners from the draft, headlining the clubs re-branding, very much becoming the face of the club, you don't do all of those things if you aren't interested in hanging around.
  14. I will start this off by saying i clearly rate Parish. but he reminds me alot of Jono O'rourke talent means nothing if you don't have the attitude, coaches to make use of it he could be O'rourke or he could be Andrew Gaff.
  15. also a strong chance to be there at pick 7... Parish is not.
  16. Jesse Hogan will be having wet dreams over the prospect of Salem moving into the midfield and Parish joining us and those two blokes kicking the ball into him, He'll be unstoppable, he was dominant with some of the terrible entries he got last year.
  17. Anything to back that up? i've seen nothing to suggest he is anything other than the obvious choice.
  18. He's the best player that's going to be there at pick 3, i'd say he's a lock pick 7 is much less so
  19. Even unproven key forwards who showed promise and went as high picks seem to hold far more currency then mids, i mean look at Tom Boyd.
  20. For me, Charlie Curnow is this, he could be an absolute superstar but i think he could be a flop too Parish for me is just a jet and a really safe option, i'd say Oliver will be a good player as well
  21. Certainly fits the theme of competitor, would be a good choice. i just don't feel we can pass up the opportunity for a Parish and key forward combination Oliver reminds me of Gus Brayshaw but with far less class but makes up for it with just determination and will.
  22. I do see your point, not every key forward is a Jesse Hogan... I always felt Tom Hawkins showed signs in that time, not consistently enough, i personally watch the dogs quite closely and haven't really seen much that tells me Boyd is all that special.
  23. Always very difficult to read the development of a key position player as they're playing on men, Tom Boyd became the number 1 pick because he was huge and dominated skinny kids, now at AFL level he is struggling to make the jump, his bank account isn't but that's a whole different convo
  24. He is going to take his time with this one, he'll need to be 100% sure he wants to be at the MFC to sign this extension, from what I've heard he'll be ( and rightly so ) one of the highest paid in the comp.
  25. Brendan mcartney and simon goodwin would be the perfect two to judge if jake is any good, willing to back them in, i think he will slot into the best 22
