And we thought we had training ground problems
In the NRL the Roosters and Rabbitohs are having an all out war it seems....
South Sydney have now asked the NSWRL to reconsider its position and believes the Roosters junior representative program is an extension of the junior league.
The Rabbitohs are arguing that their juniors are being enticed to join the Roosters because of the convenience of having the training facility in their area.
The Roosters have provided $200,000 of funding to provide lighting and improve the school’s sporting facilities.
The Rabbitohs have submitted a formal application to have the Roosters banned from training in their backyard and are awaiting a response from the NSWRL.
The references are to the junior teams

Not excited by a retread coach most of whom will be happy to collect $1.2M a year for 3-4 years and leave us mid table.
On the other hand it will calm the membership exodus and give us a short term media bump.
As Dickens wrote in David Copperfield .... Tell MFC that Bucks is willing....
Hopefully I'm surprised but MFCSS runs deep in most of us

Pick 20 is effectively first round. Even 40 is bottom second
I'd be amazed if a "project player" goes higher than third round unless some club wants to push us away from our second round choice so that they can get that player in the third round.
My worry is that we dilute our second round choice with swaps to lesser picks in fear that someone will take him second round.
We always seem to overpay one way or the other

51 minutes ago, Turner said: people are pencilling him in for 200 games and the 2030 brownlow, we beat up on a west coast side that is the worst ever. he could easily avg 9 touches and no goals over the next 3 weeks.
he has played 12 casey games for 17.7 touches, 3.8 tackles and a total of 4.10 on the scoreboard, no one was asking for his selection for the first 10 weeks he played and with reason, he wasnt impacting, lets just slow down shall we, he deserves to hold his spot this week of course and maybe a 12 month extension is fair if theres enough moving parts elsewhere but lets see what he does next before we get any more carried away
Fair enough post. His last three or so games at Casey showed a strong uptrend though admittedly against middling opposition.
Next season he and MacAdam will probably be vying for the same spot. Hopefully one of the two grabs it and makes it their own.

Casey is an Albatross 👍
It has been said. We have all heard the platitudes but it was never going to work.
I didn't mind driving there as the traffic got progressively lighter as you got nearer.
The other way was hell and I imagine it would be even worse after a hard session on the track

Strategy, tactics, game plan etc, List Management
Player relationships, Motivation, Media
Both on equal footing.
Interesting and radical. I suspect it would require an exceptional two people without supreme ego.
Another left field is Daisy Pearce

Agree
Not interested in a recycled coach.
A new "cheap" coach on a short contract (longer with strong KPI's) surrounded by very good (well paid) assistants.
It won't be an easy job.
PS: I'd like to see a little more attention paid to the VFL coach

To trade Petracca or Oliver we would probably need to pay 20% of their salary simply to offload them.
35% gets a second rounder and 50% a first
They and we are stuck with each other unless they agree to reduce their contracted salaries.
Of course if they have a stellar year for MFC in 2026 the equation could change at the end of that year as it would with increases in the TPP cap and the length left on their contracts

4 hours ago, Dr. Gonzo said: It's not bad, easy to get to and seats are pretty good no matter where you are. I hate being indoors on a sunny day and nothing will beat the G but it's not bad as an alternative venue. I presume a large part of the hate from Melbourne supporters comes from the MCC members who don't have the same access or facilities at Docklands.
Agree
My problem is that too much of the stadium is reserved with no clear indication as to where GA seats are available. A simple app these days or a digital board would fix that.
When I enter the AFL members there's a board which tells me the unreserved areas that always includes half the reserve unless it's a very big game

A period of steady progression, followed by some strong performances in big wins made his selection today based on form. Looks strong.
True
He started showing something in the last three or four matches. He has a strong body and is very solid in the marking department.
Not sure he has the speed to make it longer term but worth a look
