  1. Five things stand out which should have you standing up and applauding ...

    1. Has set about dismantling Bailey's useless free-wheeling game plan and instilling a heretofore non-existent defensive mindset in the players.

    2. Willingness to drop players regardless of status and reputation.

    3. Getting rid of a group of leaders who were anything but and boldly replacing them with fresh faces he believes can grow in the role and take us forward.

    4. Enticing one of the game's most astute thinkers (Craig) and fitness gurus (Misson) to join him.

    5. Convincing Mitch Clark to join us.

Small victories in the first year as he lays the groundwork for culture change and future success.

You should be inspired by this because it took brass balls to do it.

Nice try but it remains the fact that most of those points were pre season moves while Craigs reputation is mostly institutionally approved thinking that doesnt necessarily stand up to analysis.

We dont yet know the result of Missons training 'expertise'.

I remain open minded but thus far we have seen no real sign that things are going to get better.

HOPEFULLY HE RETAINS THE FULL SUPPORT OF THE BOARD, because this is going to take time

ps. number 6 shows all the signs of being his masterstroke

  2. May be run of the mill in Hawthorn but it isn't for Melbourne maybe that's why his skills stand out so much.

and thats why we should enjoy his skill but not carry on like it proves he's going to be a superstar.

When oppostion fans acknowledge his skills we'll know he's making real progress.

His 'vision' and decision making is good as well unless he's under pressure when it drops off noticably.

The only stand out improver is Jonesy and surely no one gives the coach credit for that unless its the same as with Watts...finding a way for him to maximise his abilities.

I want to see the coaching group teach Howe to make intelligent choices and take the time to execute them properly

  3. Watts has improved no doubt but these pin point passes you talk about are run of the mill stuff in teams like Hawthorn .

He's got elite skills but still seems to avoid the hard stuff and the improvement is only to be expected from a number one pick.

The credit goes to the coach for finding a spot where he can develop, we're still waiting for some head turning play from Jack

  4. There's really less than 10 AFL players on the list at the moment and I doubt Neeld is letting them go anywhere but the gym.

Compared to Buckley,Miller,Bruce or Mclean the ones that will go are second rate so I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Players walking out might tell another story, but then Scully is hardly setting the world on fire either

  5. Proudly bought to you by our 'Demons' supporter Mike Sheehan

    http://www.foxsports...3-1226438430894

Whilst I will be interested to see what he has to say, why the heck should Sheedy get an open forum to discuss why he was overlooked and vent his disgust any more than Hardwick or any of the other contenders at the time. Just another chance for Sheedy to put to boot into us, and spout his normal drivel.

As a side game, how many times will he mention Scully do you think? I'll say 6 times!

Pity Open Mike doesnt allow twitter feeds really, at least with Denham they are lining up to get on air and successfully skewer him.

Sheedy could really do with a non sycophantic analysis some time.

  6. Appreciate Macca, those profiles are great. I did watch it yesterday. Intrigued with how o'Grady went on the attack.

Don't know much about the winner, although I did hear on the commentary that he just finished his suspension from a positive doping in the past

    Timed it bloody well...

I reckon its wise to assume that most if not all top cyclists have dabbled in various supplements so I agree V's timing was exquisite as much as anything else. But more importantly he gets full marks for his guts in breaking open the break.Stuey was clearly meant to stretch out the field, put pressure on GB until our super domestique could bring the sprinters up to take a shot at Gold on the Strand.

Big time fail to Cadel there, so its no suprise he's being 'rested' from the TT as a result.

It certainly looked ominous for a while with GB doing a very passable imitation of Sky (including the Kraut Sky rider helping the Poms) only to come unstuck I suspect because, without team radios, they couldnt work out how much time they needed to get back to catch Stuey and the gang.

The Columbian guy who got silver was also team Sky fwiw !!

Phil Liggett found it difficult without all the Tour race info as well and was reduced to talking rubbish and missing the TV feed he did have eg Wiggins going off the back with about 10 ks to go.

    Who knows when Cadel went.

At least the other commentator, though he repeated himself, was prepared to risk his reputation with a few predictions......the only one Liggett made was about 5 ks from the finish when even I knew the Peleton wasnt catching anyone

  7. Happy to buy a subscription, but I guess it needs an IT Internety Forum expert guy, and most of all the password.

Now you see, there's what I meant by 'Ology encouraging 'stupidity', weather its the speling or the analysis of MFC and its travails

Surf’s up at Point Lonsdale Blue?

  8. Seeing that no one has been able to guess the password, and by my reading no one was going to attend the meeting, is it fair to assume that Ology is now dead....for lack of permission to apply (apparantly) a simple fix?

    That is very depressing.

As Smithy observed, while not critiscising either site, Ology is easier to read and allows more 'stupidity'; an essential attribute in my opinion.

Let Mark Robinson have the monopoly on sententious moralising from a bloke who never played, couldnt play and shouldnt....as in. " I believe that in football,as in life, there are certain values that are sacrosanct and speak to the meaning of our existance, blah blagh ablah blah....geez look at the hooters on that one (snort snort)"

Personally I miss Ology and all the fun it provided me.

  9. Can't or won't grant access. Seems to me like port 3389 is open to the internet, so all we need now is to guess the username password :.)

  10. Chunky has been getting better each year for at least the past 3....tough committed and tireless. In a counter intuitive way he gives succour to any anti Neeld critics because he exposes the lie about the clubs apparant fitness levels being the reason the team is so shyte this year.

Its not the coaching that has made Jones a better player, its his attitude and that was apparant even when the spuds ran anti Jones threads during the DB years..

Now Beamers boxing camp has gone perhaps recruits should go down to Bells with Jones for MFC induction.

  11. It gives me great joy to see $cully fail and I'm not sure if it's because it sticks it up Sheedy, or it makes $cully look like a money grabbing scumbag who's turned out to be an absolute dud of a player, one that's totally devoid of any personality and conscience.

It will please me no end when the media start to put the acid on both of them.

It will also please me no end when Sheedy starts to lose players because of the obscene contract that $cully is on.

it will also please me no end when we select two players for the price of half of one and they are both playing well whilst $cully is playing in the local league as the most expensive seconds player ever.

Thanks Sheeds, you pathetic old fool, how does your judgement look now?

Phew why dont you tell us how you feel Robbie.......nice to see you havent lost your passion :)

  12. Back on topic please. We have a long servant of the club about to embark on his 250th game in a couple of days time.

It will be a while before the next Melbourne player achieves a 250 game milestone for MFC.

I'll say it will be Jones in approx. 5 years time ! Such is our list.

Coach Neeld suggested today that very few players in the future(not just MFC players) would get to 250 games such are the demands of todays sport.

Well done Brad Green, a professional sportsman;undervalued at his best and unfairly critiqued most of the time.

Not a 'legend' perhaps but certainly a MFC champion.

  13. my understanding is Cook was taken as a bit of a project player....obviously still very much a project in progress

back in the good (read sensible) old days of 1sts and reserves teams players would play for YEARS in the twos before they were considered ready for promotion and as a result they the skills, fitness, maturity and hunger to be successful.

    Just saying thats all.

  14. Geez I thought you meant Wona. Hang on a minute.........

for what its worth... this is a news FLASH received today......Wona is content and very happy to be home
  15. Andy doesnt do TT's and even though they say there wont be the same long TT stages next year Froome was super strong on all stages and the Sky team (even one down) was awesome... Andy vs Contador vs Sky could be a mighty battle

  16. . Early in the season I recall Neeld saying that they had identified half a dozen players they thought they could develop. . He didnt say whether that was into A grade players, genuine AFL players or just the basis of an AFL list. It's still not clear to me ,but Jones gets the credit for his own improvement imo and I cant think of one other player who has shown any sign at all of starting to come good because of this so called elite coaching group. Surely there should have been one or two starting to show something by now unless it suggests Neeld actually meant 'half a dozen AFL players on the list... DB's bi fold door to the premiership may have to be moved to the back door at seasons end

  17. Thanks for your work Macca.......How good were Sky? The yellow jersey leading out Cavendish for his 4th final sprint win.and Froome......game set and match. Until next year at least

  18. I'd suspect will walk to Western Bulldogs as a free agent.

Assuming the Doggies still want him.

As with all the 'experienced' players on the list Coach Neeld has given Bater plenty of opportunity to show what he's got to offer and he's come up with not much at all.

Like Morton, for different reasons, the game has gone past him and VFL or S. Aust beckons
