Weid has played a good game, Tmac hasn't played a good game for a long, long time.
Some truth in that but then Weid has only played about 3 good games in 6 years.
Btw the last one wasn't actually that good and I bet Sparrow is pleased it was TMac not Weid on the goal line in the G/F... Both Kossi and TMac do things each game that Weideman can't even dream aboutÂ

Assuming BBB is in then I'm for Tom although it still could go either way I guess. But the thing is that I see Weid and MFC like I see Ronnie Wood and The Rolling Stones!... Weid and Ron are good and both have certain skills to bring.
For mine Ron was a fill in session muso when Keef was unreliable and Mick Taylor didn't fit. Now he's a "Stone" albeit creepy weird and a shizen artist.
Weid is a fill in forward whose quirks are he that doesn't contest on the ground and flies beautifully on a lead then drops the mark! He can pinch hit in the ruck as well.
Any band Ronnie plays with is lesser for it but we forget Taylor and Brian Jones and accept them as picked.
If Weid becomes a "Dee" we will forget how that forward line could look if LJ or even Watts had found their place in the 22.
It's not as if Weid hasn't been in the rehearsal room for long enough now to show his chops , but at least he's not creepy weird.
Tom stays for the time being anyway, though he looks a little personally uncomfortable at times.

Yea it could just be sadly Tmac or Weid are not the option this year. Hope I'm wrong.
One of them has to keep the seat warm for Van Rooyan.... Neither of them are exciting me though.Â
If Tom could run like he used to and didn't give away mindless 50 metres .. or If Weid could hold a contested mark..
First world problems at this end of the season really

BBB had a record of success to point to
A couple of marks in a final 4 years ago is not much for Weid to pump himself up like he did pre season pre Covid pre signing renewal

Last time I looked it was at the Adelaide oval.
Kozzies kicked 3 this year and Charlie has one. No where near last years pace.
They have been excellent at the 1%ers but the 90%ers come first - kicking goals, which adds pressure on its own.
And in defense of Spargo I think he is playing higher up the ground.
And No I am not calling for either of them to be dropped.
Kossie might benefit from dropping weight ( perhaps muscle)

It took the most likely and skilful forward of all to get 3 goals so that how hard it was to generate scoring.Â
Tmac did play more usefully than Weid but maybe he could be Med Sub and give Sam another chance to succeed.Â
Down  back it will be a slow burn getting our best 7 together with encumbants being favoured by the Goody selection process.
All in all we have 30 plus players in our depth st this stage with about 3 out of action. Â It's still a work in progress!!Â
ÂHow many seasons of " chances to succeed" do you think Weid deserves?
WS it prior to 2020 he said he was going to make his big move and become the main man up forward?
Was it 2018 he had a good finals game with 3(?) marks?
TMac is surely cooked ..he's gone this Christmas like the turkey , but Weid can wait his turn for the future .
We've been waiting long enough.
One last season for Tom..he could still kick 30 and upset a few packs in the process

We still haven't beaten anyone, haha
So anyway humble pie time
Everytime I think Harmes is off the boil, and his position is suspect he turns in a belter of a game. Was really impressed yesterday and loved post game footage showing him power from back 1/3rd to front 3rd for a mark and goal, his running was stellar. I really wish the club would let us see some of their running times they are spectacular athletes and not just Langdon and ANB.
On attack...
I want Weid to have another chance because i thought our fwd 50 entries were poor, am not complaining about the win but i really don't understand our execution into forward 50 yesterday and haven't read an explanation that satisfies me. I totally get bank the wins, and you can understand from my handle I am into the defense, and Goodwins' presser was totally fair and insightful. But I still think the inside 50's were slack and neither Tmac or Weid got a fair shake.Â
I did notice Weid back pedaling like crazy in one contest when he realized he had been sucked under the flight of the ball and in another he was ineffectually stuck on the side of the contest, but overall there was not enough contests to have a decent sample size to make a judgement on whether he stays or goes. That said i think BBB is in his best form.
Also
Cannot agree that Sparrow > Brayshaw, even on potential. Like Sparrow and will be servicable due to his strength but Brayshaw clearly has more vision and weapons.
Weid will get yet another chance when someone is injured or Tom loses the plot .
Otherwise there is no reason to play him in best 22.

5 hours ago, Sydee said:Right there is your problem - nobody knows what he can consistently deliver because even when he has given consecutive games he failed to lock down a position - so we really have no clear idea what his "known form" is
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve another crack next week just that we should not be reconfiguring our whole forward structure around him - he needs to find a way to work with any structure , any weekÂ
My personal view is that he looks a significantly better player when allowed to run onto the ball (leading with space in front) - he is very easily pushed aside by key defenders and is never going to succeed relying on contested marking. If there is away to free up that space without compromising the ability of other forwards to contribute then great. Fritta seems to be able to make this work with astute timing for his leads and clever positioning around the drop of the ball.Â
One of the big challenges for Sam is to ensure that each time he takes the field he walks off having made a meaningful contribution as is the case with the whole squad. This doesn't always have to be measured on goals kicked but the gap between Sam's better games and poorer performances remains significantÂ
Yeah as I have said, here and on the old Ology ,Weid leads well and can kick it too.
If you can't catch it under pressure and you have had years and years of time to establish a place in the mix then you are either just depth ,waiting for someone to retire or a list clogger.
How long did they pick Weid at the expense of BBBÂ before he got a chance and took it?
The" give him a chance" argument is laughably back to front

Sorry but I gotta put in my 3 word comment for Sam Weideman.
Disappointing effort tonight.
Â
After last week kicking 4 goals against Essendon I held high hopes he would contribute. I barely noticed him tonight.
Weideman .. predicable follow up
Time after time
Softer than Watts
Excellent as depth

Doesn't he own a farm as his "day job"?
I dont imagine farms for ex football players are usually about making a living wage.
They do it just because that's what their mates all do...and good luck to them I say.
I don't criticise BT for being on a good wicket. It's just that he's a terrible caller and surely someone/anyone else could do better.
They all have a use by date ,we naturally get tired of them; it's just he never should have had a start date

ÂThe Weid/TMac question is really difficult. Weid is holding most of his marks (at last!) and is probably the future - but TMac does a hell of a lot of blocking/heavy work. Iâll trust the selectors.
YeH I was wrong Weid held 3 (rather than 1) marks but of course didn't like j a goal.
He now averages 2 a game though, so maybe that will keep him in the team!
TMac is in an awful space but is still miles ahead of Weid.... for now.
He's probably cooked and the clo k is ticking but they could try Van Rooyan first if possible ..One would hope anyway.
Weid equals depth
Weeds are what you keep around the edges until you plant something that will flower

So I was worried about how Lever would come back, as he has not always been great 1st match back from a spell but I think he looks good so that is promising. Weid dropped a sitter am praying very hard for him. Our system down back look solid. Max is on fire with marking, best game this year. I have a feeling Viney is quite angry and is going to eat someone.

FMD Umpire...
Weid dropped a sitter?
Surely not

So a quick post while the maid finalises my Zoutzoukakia. ( I instructed her to withhold the cumin as it ruins a decent red)
Re footy.
Goal kickers will be the key tonight.
Can Weid back it up?
Will Tmac find some form under pressure?
A bag from Fitta would be handy.
However, it may be the big boys who deliver the coup de grace . Port don't match us in the ruck department, so don't be surprised if Jacko and Max do some damage sneaking forward.
Dees easily if we kick straight.
Weid won't hold a mark ( well maybe one) despite leading well, and probably won't kick a goal .

Great news! According to The Age, âEddie McGuire steps away from calling footyâ.
What a wonderful day. BT⊠Youâre next.
ÂUnfortunately Eddie doesn't need the work, but BT does...he can't do anything else so he won't walk away they would have to sack him.....please

The AFL Supporters Survey released today, and hightlighted on The Age back page, talks about, among other things, fans fed up with the boys club commentary ruining the watching spectacle on tele.
Who'd have thought?
But the good news is Ch 7 is allocating this season Daisy Peace to the Friday night commentary team for special comments, moving Wayne Carey to Saturday.
How good is that, but a good call by 7 after Daisy's suberb comments contribution on the GF. At times it was emabarrassingly good. Well done to 7 on that.
She even had BT saying during the GF's 3rd quarter "....Daise , can you explain just what's happened...?" So she did.
Priceless.
At one stage when I tired of re watching " bang bang bang....bang!" I went through the game to listen to BT talking from the cheat sheet he must bring to games to try and match to what he thinks is happening and the waited for Daisy to gently correct him a little later so as not to embarrass him too much more than he does to himself.
Actually it was only 3 or 4 times but it was great fun and highlights how useless BT is.
She's a lot more careful working with Hodge

Are you saying he'd be fresh?
We won't get rid for Weid for half the season now so TMac out and the forward line will have to adjust to having a tall who can't compete in a pack on board
Lever and Brown inÂ
Hunt and TMac out

The superstars are fading ,it was the newbies she would have needed to watch. A couple of them will be champs.
We really won't know much until round 5 or 6.
When the scibes start talking about a flag for Buddy rather than Sydney you know it's a phoney war

Who replaces Hunt will depend on who is available.
And not sure of any injury updates tonight - Rivers was said to be hobbling a bit again.
I guess Tom McD gets to stay largely because of his adaptability, though were Weed to have a really good game tomorrow it could be tempting to give him a run.
Speculation on Weeds form in the "twos" takes me back about 4 seasons when the Dee's had a list full of second level champions who, when called for, weren't even depth playersÂ
