Call me sexist but i couldnt stand Kelli Underwoods call today, her voice is horrible, she makes alot of mistakes and she goes way over the top on nothing plays. If it was a male commentator she d be laughed off. But then when you look at blokes like Wallsy i probably shouldnt criticise..............
-
Do some people just think up ideas and post them... I think this is a rumour started by the person writing this thread. Valenti is probably a nice bloke who will have a good VFL career.
I heard Fremantle are interested in signing Robbo on a 6 year deal to boost their youth stocks. could be just a rumour

Just watched the tape (Foxtel IQ2) of todays games and thought id add my two cents.
Scully- He will be No 1 no doubt, it wasnt just the bandage round his nose that drew comparisons to juddy.... He can seriously play, Inside players with his skill are very rare. He s work rate is also oustanding and given the attn from the opposition he receives his composure is also very good.
Butcher- This is a tuff one, picking Butcher could be a bit of genius or stuff of ridicule in years to come. But rarelydo Kpp come ready made. The other problem for us is he an inferior version of Watts, and in the modern game i think thats a worry.
Trengrove- Didnt have a blinder but will not disappoint the team that picks him. Im not convinced he has the x factor to be a top 2 pick. But good skills and looks to have a good football brain
Lucas- I like this guy, he s a great mover, reads the game well and has good skills. He s a prototype modern day player. Not top two but id think freo or the eagles will be keen.
Morabito- Id seen him once before and today confirmed it for me. No thanks. He is the player in this draft that will embarras the team that takes him high(enter Freo). I wont go on but the way he stood off contests was very soft and those that said he was highly skilled were clearly basing it on a brief Youtube package.
Christensen- he ll be a handy player but no more, and his size is of real concern
Other notables- Rohan; speed to burn and a very commited player, be handy if he slides lter on but doubt it.
Carlisle; Did a solid job down forward and showed a bit of class, he s also taller than he looks and could be a good long termer.
Martin; Classy player, did his chances no harm today, but will go after our first picks and before our seconds
Sumnar; Another with a real touch of class, always looks like he has time. Possible 2nd rounder.
Today shoed that if we get picks 1&2(we wil) then we will have scully and the chance to pick up another class player. It also showed that theres enough class to pick up a good player in the second round, and if we do go for a KPP with pick two then pick 19 will provide a promising Mid.

Bennell - still developing
Davey - team quarter back
Frawley - Im becoming a fan
Green - Not back to 100%
Grimes - showing good signs
Jetta - competeing with marric for role
Johnson - not a ruckman
Jones - always has a crack
Jurrah - raw, but promising
Martin - needs development, potential plus
McLean - very very poor
Miller - lacks impact
Moloney - form drop continues
Morton - just cruising
Petterd - little impact
Rivers - needs to be mre accountable
Robertson - fan fav, career over
Sylvia - head down, bum up
Whelan - gutsy,career over
Warnock - hard with no midfield pressure
Watts - 3-4years away
We have really gone down hill in the last few weeks.. But two players i want to mention. Bruce is bagged on here non stop but he is having a really good year in a shockingly bad side. He is class and the people who bag him no bugger all about footy. The other is N. Jones, he may make poor decisions and lack a bit of skill, but when he pulls on the guernsey he puts his body on the line and gives his all right through the game. Its more than i can say for 80% of his team mates and he deserves more than being a late inclusion and always starting from the bench....
-
Bate - needs better supply
Bennell - still a kid
Bruce - loose on bateman
Davey - cant be No1 every week
Frawley - good second half
Green - solid comeback
Grimes - developing well
Johnson - Is progressing well
Jones - good effort, bad disposal
Maric - has skills, needs time
Martin - maybe a forward?
McDonald - getting to the end
McLean - pace is a concern
Miller - limited but committed
Moloney - down on output
Morton - needs to harden up
Petterd - lost at the moment
Rivers - needs to have more impact
Robertson - not impressed
Sylvia - more please, outstanding
Warnock - solid again
Whelan - can play better
-
I know most of us never saw him but I cant believe Ron jr has hardly had a mention. The game is about winning and Ronald Dale did that better than anyone, he s a legend of the game, maybe the only one we ve had on the field.

I wish that we win the flag this year.................. but thats not going to happen.
So given that id rather get picks 1 and 2, especially given what we all know is coming with Gc and possibly and 18th team.
This could be the biggest chance MFC has to gain an advantage over the compition for the next ten years.
Its clear that this year we are building a game plan and an attitude at our club that will hold us in good stead for the future,
were also finding out who on the list is up to the task for the years to come.
Ifn the interest of the years to come i can handle 1 more spoon
-
drdrake made the most accurate view on the situation...
Ive watched 5 games now over the carnival and there is clearly two camps for the No 1 pick.
Rich and Hurley are ready made, rich s ability to find it and to hit lead up forwards will see him be a star, his dsposal by foot is cleanerthan virtually evyone on our list... whoever gets him will not be disappointed
Hurley may well be down the order in alot of peopls eyes but this kid could play Afl tomorrow and hod down a defensive postion wit ease. What i was really impressed with defensive skills aside was his quality run and disposal out of the back.. again
The next two Wattsand Nat are both real prospects, with the abiltity to be superstars of the comp, but they both have question marks.
I believe that Nat wil go No1, no one will want to be known as the club that passed him up if he does reach full potential... The problem is idont see a position for him for a no. of years. If you take him be prepared to be patient, his true value couldtake 5 years to show..
Watts probably has less question marks because as long as his body contnue to develop(he lacks power at this stage) he will be an outstanding Kpp for yea to come. He s agile, marks well, attacks th footy with real intent an more than anything there is no substitute for a bloke who at 194cm can kick like that. his kicking for goal is pure and with more strength he would be a special from anywhere inside 60.
In the end its all speculation til the ladder is decided, but of these four we are guaranteed one and i wont be disappinted with any.

I dont often post but was there on the weekend so got a good look.
Bartram - really lacking confidence.
Bate - a natural talent
Bode - Not Afl standard
Bruce- solid game
Davey - still not consistent
Dunn - found a role
Frawley - looks lost
Garland - gutsy, learning well
Green - quality and courage
Jamar - Not convinced at all
C. Johnson - most promising game yet
P. Johnson - really good target
Jones - will become more consistent
McDonald - solid as usual
McLean - hopefully learnt from kirk
Miller - a real team man
Sylvia - goes missing
Warnock - potential, needs a mentor
Wheatley - missed too many targets
Whelan - on the comeback
White - solid, but lacking round the ground
Wonaeamirri- rookie list gun
Besides the obvious negatives i thought there was some genuine positives out of the game.
- Garland to me looks like he will be around for quite a while. read the game really well and with some weight and experience will develop well
-Warnock, although well beaten i thought he looked ok, should be given next 12months in this position and needs to be educated on positioning
With Rivers these should be our defensive talls for nest 5years+

its a post cause that s how trades get done......... two clubs cant always complete a trade on their own and third and fourth clubs come into it..
Kennedy is a sticking point, west coast interested in trapper we need a KPP. Hardly the stupidist thing written on this forum!!!!!
-
Its rumoured that kennedy doesnt want to head west as part of the Judd deal, and west coke have shown interest in Trapper so wondering what u guys would think of letting trapper go to weagles via carlton and us getting kennedy?
Obviously we would need a pick in there somewhere too!!!!
-
I never like to be to critical of someone who has the courage to play Afl football but Ferg is out and out ordinary.
He cant mark cant kick and his spoils go nowhere. In fact when he spoils it looks like it s going to break his arm..
As a club we have to stop kidding ourselves year after year about some of our fringe players... there not young anymore..
if u want to be a genuine shot at a flag players like ferg are nowhere near ur best 22..
Sorry but its how it is!!!!
-
Sheedy and Mckenna, yes both. DREAMS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
-
Just got back from the ground, just my opinon
Brown - cant kick and hardly noticed(delist)
Carroll - solid defender given the ball raining in
Holland - say what u will but he has an honest crack
Ward - didnt realise a floater was a preferred passing method(delist)
Bell - not his best day but he is one for the future
Miller - i give up(trade if anyone will take him)
Buckley - in 5years will be a distant memory, early call but not sure he ll make it
Moloney - rest him
Wheatley - yep he can kick it long
McDonald - out muscled today with little help
Green - would benefit from a new coach identifying permanent role
Davey - little motivation
Pckett - seen better days, but deserved a beter 200
Newton - future KPP big men tke longer and he will be quality
Ferguson - LOL (delist)
Jamar - would make a good doorman(delist)
White - was dominated
McLean - slow road back but we know his class
Godfrey - Bartram will take his spot, thank god. always an honest effort
Bate - injured
Neitz - rest for 2008
Jones - our best this year, future star
-
just got back from he game, live not far from ground...
well that was a terrible effort, No midfied, No man marking, No forwar pressure and absolutely no run anywhere on the ground.
i dont know how u go from being the best tackling team last year to the worst this year, but we ve done it...
some of the tackles were like girl slaps they just fell off so easily.
our skills are terrible, blokes like ward brown and buckley may need to be shown the drop punt cause a floater pass or a grubber makes it f@#kin hard to mark.
I ve defended miller upto now but i concede, he is nowhere need the standard required.
we are years off being anywhere near te top again.. id say 3-5years
major clear out, new coach and along road back....
Right now 'FOOTY SUX'

Maximum Bob..........
In No way was i ranking issue s in order, they are just areas i find concerning for someone who wants to be a senior coach...possibly of the club i love....
His handling of the Aker situation to me shows he is not good at dealing with a range of personalities and as a senior coach the best know how to deal with all types..
you also say that ratten is the only viable option and longmire and McKenna are not..
Like them or not you must be the only person into footy who thinks that either of those towo wont make great senior coach s one day.. have you any clue
I agree that there are players that could go straight to senior coaching, im just not convinced its Voss
-
Voss was a great player...........
BUT in terms of being our next coach, NO THANKS>
So many ditractions i dont know where to start.
This incident is only the start.
He never had to deal with the spotlight of playing footy in Melbourne,,, he was hidden awy in QLD....
He handled the Aker stiuation like a baby.... couldnt get along with him so made sure aker was excluded...
He has no coacjing experience as we all know, but yet half of you think he ll make a great coach...WHY! cause he was a great player. There s plenty of great players who commentat and write for the papers and have no idea. He played in one team away from melbourne thats it......
There are so many good candidates like Mckenna, Ratten and the Horse why do we want to be the club who takes the risk on the only bloke in footy arrogant enough to think he can walk in to a coaching job with no experience....
NO THANKS

I agree he has made some great selections and we have some very exciting players that should play 200 plus games..
However he has never picked up a KPP that has been a regular first 22 player( Newton could turn out to fit that bill)....
aswell you have to look at the other clubs, we have picked up good players but so have the other teams and not just the teams who had earlier picks.
I think He is very god at his job but if he goes its not the end of the world and i think some of you guys have met him so like to think he is the absolute best.. can anyone honestly say our recruitment has been the best in the AFL over the last few years.
hope this isnt taken the wrong way im not bagging him at all, i just cant agree we re stuffed if he leaves.
-
This has been happening all year........ Sunday game same on 7 as on Fox, its a bloody joke..
I ended up just streaming the game with MMM cause i hate not knowing whats going on, itried to watch the replay but it clashed with the soccer..
Cant understand how the Afl allows the same game to be shown on Fox aswell as 7..
Maybe we should write a combined letter to the Afl voicing our concerns, especially considering that the dees get heaps of sunday arvo games year after year..
-
each week when i read these i often wonder if i was watching the same game.....
For his first game back in a while i thought Miller was pretty solid today. people on here bag him alot but with sometime down back i think he is a real shot at being a class defender, one that can pinch hit each week on the biggest strongest opposition forward. He has a good motor is a good grab and given the chance i think he can read the play well with the ball coming in at him. You all praise Brock and he s been ordinary lately, i thimk we should all remember the team is got about as much structure left to it as the world trade centre and this has a massive impact on the whole team.... mclean miller and the rest.
CAN we get through this year without bagging miller each week for nothing and see what develops, its not like there s much to lose. p
LOL...just saw the post above, Couldnt agree more.
-
I cant believe so many of you have Pagan on your lists... We need one of the new breed of coaches to move forward not someone who s past there best.. Pagan has a decent list at Carlton and done nothing at all. they get whipped by 100 every second week. I d be disappointed if we miss the oppertunity to nab a Mckenna Voss or Longmire, we need innovation and a strong knowledge of current footy trends.
