  1. Now having got that off your chest do you feel better?

I have complained in the past about those very subjects however a number of them have been changed.

I have a better feeling about the way the club is being run than 12 months ago.

Remember we only look at the MFC there is plenty of poor result outside of the MFC

No one is perfect there will be mistakes in the future.

The trick is to make sure we do not repeat them.

I would feel better if I had confidence in the staff the club have operating the 'business' part of things. Thats not a dig at CS but more at those staff who seem to treat the MFC as a part time business. Some may want to fire back over that, hut my experience with staff at the MFC is that their is a level of unprofessionalism.

  2. FACTS: We have no major sponsor and the pre-season is 2 weeks away. We were in a similiar position the last time we were sponsorless

We are the worst represtened club in terms of merchandise in AFL stores state wide

Our branding has not grown at all in 10 years.

We are near last in terms of social media 'Likes' and 'Followings'

We were the laughing stock of the AFL last year when we played in 'Pink' jumpers all season after Mr Schwabby wanted to return to the 'deep' red of the 60's.

We have an apparel sponsor that sucks.

We have no innovative of forward thinking merchandise.

The new 'emblem' looks great when produced in large print, but is totally undesirable for thumbnaail reproduction.

    - You may all see these as little things, but to me it stinks of laziness and 2nd rate attitudes by those that are responsible for selling the club. Call it an agenda if you like, i don't care much.

    EDIT: Spelling

  3. I reckon you make a number of valid points. I have found myself asking some of these questions recently as well.

The MFC marketing department is a sham. I have had several discussions via email with them, and there knowledge and understanding of the market they operate in is well below par.

As for social media, I believe Ricky Petterd's sister heads that up. She had no real experience in the area, but got the job so we could sweeten Ricky's deal. I agree, its free advertising, should be better.

I also feel that if Schwabb fails ton deliver a second major sponsor after catergorically claiming we would have a 2nd sponsor when the first was announced, he HAS TO GO! He was lucky to survive 186 and if he isn't up to the task, then he has no future at the MFC !

  4. And I'm telling you exactly as I have found it after 4 years in Rockhampton and 21 years on the Gold Coast mixing with many fans of all codes both in business and socially.

I feel sorry for you living on the GC mate. Lived there 3 years for uni, have an absolute hatred for the souless [censored] hole. Each to their own i guess. You sound like you have had a few Bundy's today Smithy. On the angry juice?

As long as you are happy telling yourself you have made the right relocation choice and justify it to yourself by the weather forecast, then good on you. How is the rain this time of year?

  5. IF we are unable to get a jumper sponsor by NAB cup, we should slap the Reach Foundation Logo on the front of the jumper, as a token of appreciation for all that Jim has given to the club. A way to say thanks. Then they could sell the jumpers and give the money back to Reach.

  6. Anyone thought of just asking Cameron himself. He used to be quite open with fans. I know he is a member of this site and presume he still uses twitter. Just throw it out there. Can't hurt. Better than 9 pages of speculation, accusation and knicker twisting....!

  7. We should offer him a big fat contract if we have room in the cap. At least we would force the Tigers to pay more.

I think Sylvia is also a free agent, so we may have our own trouble.

Didn't we just sign Sylvia at the end of last season? Was it only a one year deal? I forget...

  8. Things I noticed....

Nathan Jones was always poor with his skills, especially by foot

Nathan Jones looked different with hair/ i forgot Nathan ever had hair

Brad Green layed well on the wing and pushing up the ground

Jnr Mac had a quiet night, as did Yze

Brock used to find the footy a lot and was a lot quicker in 2006

Robbo pinches goals off people (see the one he marks on the goal line from Sylvia kick)

WE WERE THE NUMBER 1 TACKLING SIDE IN 2006! (What a difference some big mature bodies makes. Junior tackled well all night).

Nathan Carrol could have been a good defender for us if not for his stupidity

    Ben Holland was mauled

Daniel Bell was suffering head injuries even in 2006

Aaron Davey loses his cool far too often and costs the side. He also should be 'harassing' playings inside fwd50.

Matthew Bate looked ok moving through the middle.

Brock won a lot of clearances and loved to hack the ball inside the forward 50

    We had heart in 2006!

  9. on a slightly different note did anyone catch Don McLardy talking on SEN the other day?

They were talking about Greg Healy coming back in some form of role as Football Director, but Don kinda got coy about a comment regarding quiksilver coming on board as well when I think the Ox joked about it... Probably nothing in it, but it certainly got my attention (Note I couldn't see them coming on as a major sponsor though...)

Perhaps they could become our new apparell manufacturer. It would be a bold move, but not unprecedented

edit. Few years back St Kilda had Piping Hot manufacturing their jumpers. Not the greatest stuff, but Quiksilver are miles ahead of Piping Hot.

    Just a thought.

In respect of Sothern China, I think this has legs! They are definately trying to crack the Australian market. Unless I am mistaken, they aklso launched here with budget flights to Canada? Or North American. I am fairly certain.

  10. I'd expect this comment from an elderly MCC member with a blanket covering their knees. One with an affinity for players numbers as opposed to surnames; not a long-time contributor to a football forum.

Glad you have enjoyed watching a group of skinny 'good character' types waddle around the park displaying skill level similiar to those of the Auskick kids. Our 'Game Plan' and foot skills have been off the mark for 5 years, that is why we haven't won games. The talent is there, it just needed to be harnessed. No point having the next Craig Mottram running around if he can't kick the ball!
