Contrary to many, I reckon that was our best chance for a win from here to finals, so being so comprehensively outplayed in the second half is very disappointing. They were fierce, clean, and opened us up like a tin of old sardines from the breakdown, and made us look just predictable and under-committed. Consequently, not only will top 2 be a bridge too far now, but top 4 I suspect given our run home. Haven’t seen Maxy lower his colours like that to another ruckman in 5 years - he won’t be happy - and many players were unsighted in the second half. Umpires yes, a problem again of course, but you expect that vs Dogs, and in truth they were way better. We just keep plugging from here, but a home town flag is looking very very shaky.

Contrary to who? This was the only one I’d pencilled in.

But we would have to trade out something/someone of equivalent first round value to get that whereas our 'natural first round pick, which we don't have is 'free'.

    Yes aware of that

Didn’t have a disposal in the second half last night. Million dollar players don't go an entire half without touching the ball when the whips are cracking.

When you last quit a job how did your last month go once you’d handed in your resignation? I bet you did the equivalent of not getting a single touch too.

I don’t think it matters much if commentators are connected with certain clubs. Sport is entertainment. We had Daisy Pearce commentating and no one here complains. The football world and associated media is incestuous and nepotistic and bias in some form is always there. It is what it is.

Nate Jones often gets the Dees too and I’ve no problems with his commentary

Another consequence of Steven May’s actions ~

    Melksham to miss Round 13

Not sure it’s a consequence of May’s actions. Melksham has free will and can choose how to respond.

If he’d just said ‘get stuffed you k n o b’ then we’d be fine.

If anything, it could be argued May being suspended is in fact a consequence of Melksham’s actions. Not saying I agree but you can’t pin the decision to punch someone on the victim.

Dee supporters need to lift our game. Far too quite, far too 'polite'. Not cheering our club and players is unacceptable.

This is so overblown and it’s all over this thread.

We had no problems belting teams in empty stadiums last year, how much noise you do or don’t make is largely irrelevant.

Hopefully May back next week. The back line needs a general to knock it into shape onfield -  or a second general, it's too much just for Lever. Also need May's lockdown so that Lever can play the third man up - Lever has never been great one-on-one, and has never been a great disposer either.

Thought Petty played a better game, or at least a second half, so hopefully if we can get the band back together with May back in, the backline will start to resemble the all-dominant machine it was last year.

We’re asking Tomlinson who hasn’t played for a year, an out of of form and probably still sore Lever and a busted up Petty to be our key defenders. It’s temporary, but it’s no wonder Logan McDonald and Sam Reid got off the chain. If the mids worked harder it wouldn’t have flown in so much or so quickly.

As supporters there’s not a lot we can do - but there is one thing we can always do, and we don’t do it. This is the best Melbourne team 90% of us have ever seen, and for 2 weeks in a row we’ve been out cheered at our home ground by interstate supporters.

Had we as supporters brought even the same intensity as North did against us at Docklands there’s no way umpires pay those contentious free kicks against us, and not pay us at least one of the 50’s in the third quarter to kick certain goals. That’s the game folks.

We are far too nice, far too quick to make an excuse not to attend a game, and clearly en masse far too complacent thinking that memberships this year are for ‘grand final guaranteed’ tickets.

Where’s the fans that brought the heat and noise in 2018? It’s really embarrassing, as it’s literally the only thing we can control. I bet the club internally is livid.

Frankly I suspect the club knows most of the city has COVID or the flu and is extremely unlikely to venture out on a freezing cold night in June.

    But go for it!

I inadvertently displayed a lack of humility at the Melb vs Hawks final in 2018, and ... loved it.

I usually sit behind the goals at the punt road end, and when we score, will clap and turn around to watch the crowd behind me also cheering, enjoy and savour the moment, while enjoying them doing likewise... but in that final our seats were a single row in a solid bay of Hawks fans ... so when Melksham jagged the goal that killed their run I was on my feet chapping and cheering loudly, I turned around and realised that 500 Hawks fans were looking at me as I eyeballed their misery while cheering loudly.

The first time it happened I was kinda shocked... but the second time was pure pleasure and got a few of them heckling me about the merger, years in the wilderness, etc...

    was awesome.

Reminds me of the time I went to the World Cup semi final to watch the Wallabies against Scotland in 2015, and Bernard Foley kicked a penalty to win with about 30 seconds left. As I went berserk my mate had to drag me back into my seat and remind me that 1000 angry Scots supporters were staring at me, and he would prefer we reach the exits alive.

    That was awesome too

Stuff being humble, it’s sport for God’s sake

Will do. But if we start dropping games against semi-decent teams regularly I'm going to keep people accountable for refusing to look at exposed form and sticking their head in the sand.

We aren’t going to go 22-0. News flash

We haven't played anyone in the top 4 and only 2 of the top 8 teams. We have a very hard fixture coming home.

I wouldn't have expected us to lose to WCE or North the last 2 weeks...so the last fortnight has taught us nothing other than we make every game a grind regardless of how bad the opponent is.

We won by a combined 21 goals! Christ!

No weight at all is placed on how long it takes to bring a claim in a Court, other than if you miss the limitation period

my view is that whilst I have no issues with the guy when at Melbourne, because our integrity is beyond reproach always,  I feel that he maybe losing some traction with his case against the Colliewobbles or that he wants more attention by the Press on his claims. A Court of Law would ask the same questions as to " why bring these matters forth now" ?

    Sorry but that’s absolute nonsense.

The second the siren goes he's with shoes off. Clearly his foot is not 100% and he is labouring.

We looked absolutely flat and physically tired yesterday, which all makes sense. Mentally it would have been really exhausting to go through the week with so many unknowns and Lever and Viney both back from Covid meant they were never going to be at their best. Viney looked exhausted when he was coming to the bench, which is unusual for him as he's extremely fit.

But when we needed to, we put the foot down and ended the game. This is just what we do.

Saints will be buggered after their game this week, whereas we conserved energy in the last quarter. Smart move.

I’ve noticed Lever always takes his boots off quickly - always has. Maybe he just likes walking in the grass in damp socks?
