  1. care to enlighten. Or do cryptic comments carry some sort of mystique that you enjoy.

I think its pretty obvious. Sometimes you say some really interesting things, and other times you misfire wildly, for example by saying that censuring somebody for wiping blood on an opponent is somehow political correctness gone mad.

  2. Ok guys, I wanted to see who people thought would be good trade bait this year.

At the moment it seems to be 2 reactions going on

    1.

Person 1 : Trade Petterd, Bate and Dunn

Person 2: No one will want them!!

    and

    2.

Person 1: trade trengove, Magner and Blease

Person 2: You idiot! why would we want to lose them! what about culture??

So I wanted to see what players people actually thought would be realistic to trade and who for. Who are the players who fit in between the above 2 options and are both wanted by other clubs, and will not hurt our culture by losing them?

Personally I think Blease (For an u17 pick) and Magner (Pick upgrade) would make good trade bait, both are valued MFC players that could be used by other teams and at the same time we can do take the hit of losing them.

For trade scenarios to work, I wanted to see which players people thought would be feasible. We need to be prepared to lose something to gain something in the trading game!

Every time I read one of your trade posts I want to stab my eyeballs out.

    Just give up already.

  3. Christ almighty what an absolute [censored] you are.

The bloke is trying to take a light hearted effort on the year, and just posting it on a seperate medium to demonland and hoping to get some readership.

Asking for constructive criticism isn't too get a smart-ass, up yourself comment like the one you just posted.

fcmelb congratulations on your blogs, I can give you solace in knowing not all Demonland readers are as disrespectful as above.

Agree to some extent, but it got a bit frustrating for me too when every second thread I opened blind was links to this blog...

  4. Alternatively ,you could quit your rubbish blog and just post random and obscure thoughts on here and cop "feedback" like all the rest of us .

Individuailty is frowned upon in here-so just be yourself .

If you cant be yourself ,then just write what everyone finds socially and morally acceptable so we can drift into a deep coma and ignore the needs of our families/housemates whining and rustling around the place .

I admire your ambition and entreprenuereal spirit in trying to create your own thing but I am suspicious of creativity in general so I have organised a hit man funded by guys like Nasher ,HT ,Old Dee and the Neo cons to vist you at your blogosphere .

    Sorry.

    Bad day, Biff??

Have to say though, totally agree.

  5. It's hard to remember any of our players having 'Good' games in 'Big games' in the last 5 and a half years . It's often hard to come up with 4 or 5 'Pass marks' in a lot of our games against good opposition . That's the reality when the team gets smashed

I'd like to see a list of our players who have consistently done well in 'Big games' in the last 5 and a half years . Even a list of those who do well in 1 out of 3 games would be interesting . The 1st list would be empty and the 2nd list would contain less than a handful IMO .

As an example , let's look at our 13 losses last year . Did any of our players have 4 or 5 good games in these 13 losses? A good game should include winning your position and/or beating your opponent (but not always) .

It's easy to point the finger at one bloke but it's a team game and more than a few need to cop their fair share in a loss (especially a bad loss)

    Watts usually beats his man...

  6. Possibly Boak because we probably can't afford both Boak and Cloke.

The price of Cloke and his baggage including his old man is a frightening prospect.

Boak, Viney and one or two midfield recruits plus Taggert and Gysberts would transform our midfield.

The next time we'd need to deal with his old man would be when Cloke was 30, seeking a 1 year extension...

  7. Going after Cloke is an absolute no-brainer.

Firstly, one of our biggest failings is getting through half forward. Can you imagine getting used to Jack Watts passing off half back, spotting up Cloke at CHF, who then wheels around and bangs it into Clark?

Not to mention, can you imagine how berserk Clark will go against the SECOND best defender on each team? That thought actually frightens me.

There aren't any star mids going around, so why not go after what is available? We can load up on guns mids in the draft, rather than via FA.

Secondly, in terms of $$, we have heaps to spend. If anybody is worried about cap issues with our potential stars in a few years, I say let's cross that bridge when we get to it. You never know, at that point we might actually be in contention and they might be willing to cop a bit less.

Cloke allows Howe to play in the midfield permanently and Watts would never need to play forward again. Garland and Rivers go back to where they belong.

I'd take the known quantity of Cloke over the 'Cook will be a gun, just give him time' stuff any day of the week.

Why are we even discussing this???

  8. 2015

    Clark, Trengove, Jamar, Garland, McKenzie

    2014

    Frawley, Tapscott, McDonald

    2013

Watts, Sylvia, Davey, Gysberts, Morton, Grimes, Taggert, Gawn, Martin, Tynan, Sellar (assumed automatic 2 yr deal),

    2012

    OOC (in number order)

Jones, Batram, Bennell, Petterd, Blease, Strauss, Cook, Jurrah, MacDonald, Howe, Jetta, Davis, Spencer, Bail, Fitzpatrick

    Rookies (upgrade or delist)

    Nicholson ®, Evans ®, Lawrence ®

    Rookies (1 year option)

    Couch, Magner, Sheahan, Williams

    RFA

    Moloney

    UFA

    Green, Rivers, Bate, and Dunn.

Interesting. Of that list now that we are at risk of losing, I think only Jones, Blease, Cook, Stauss, Howe, Jurrah, Davis and Rivers are really key. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we lost any of the others...

  9. We had a high number of players coming out of contract this year, perhaps giving a few players 3 is a strategy to stop the same thing from happening in 2 years time.

When, hopefully, their value will be much higher...

I don't think its a bad thing to lock away the core for 3 years.

  10. We were an out and out rabble today.

Even when we were well in it, in that first quarter, there were so many stupidly basic skill errors that cost us. It just kills us when we have a player on, and someone kicks it over their head, or into the man on the mark, or gives away a dumb free kick. It was just constant all day, and it is no wonder we don't score when we just BUTCHER all our opportunities.

And I'm not usually one to complain about umpiring, but wow. That was probably the most ridiculously umpired game of football I have ever seen. They should have been wearing clown suits, not green t-shirts.

  11. We gave up pick 12 for Clark, so how would this scenario be much different?

And name another one of my scenarios that suck?

Something constructive or don't bother quoting me with responses like this one.

This scenario is different because Trent West is a spud, whereas Clark looks and plays like Jesus with tats.

Another of your scenarios that sucked was suggesting we trade Trengove. Although you did have the foresight to raise the question of whether that would wreck the culture of the club, which I am willing to admit was very perceptive.
