  1. but could he play for the MFC again?

I would doubt it. The connection has been severed.

Gosh you talk some bollocks sometimes.

Everybody understands that players are going to push their market value, just like every other employee in the history of the world.

It doesn't mean that if things don't work out, we won't keep him.

Play this scenario out - Rivers comes to Neeld and says 'Actually, Neeldy, I've been thinking. I wouldn't mind hanging around after all'. Neeld says 'Oh well, Jared. Sorry old son, but we're going to delist you'.

    FMD.

  2. Good post. At the Club Lunch on Friday, MN commented that on taking over, and following Misson's appointment, each player on the list was given a personalised sheet of pre-training.

On the players' return to the training track he queried Misson on where it went wrong. Misson alleged that 50% - yep 50% - of the list had not complied. MN mused that he hadn't seen "optional" written anywhere.

Which led onto some serious comments on buy-in, leadership and the dreaded "culture".

I warrant we won't be having this discussion in 2013.

Honestly mate, if that's right, that is absolutely astounding.

Sounds like a good few of them would have had their card stamped by Neeld waaaay before round 1.

  3. I figured it was something like that.

My guess was "he who fornicated us an*lly"

But that didn't seem logical considering he has done us a favour, so I propose a new name...

    HWRALASKWWPABMWBGAAIBTHPPITGFSTWRITT100PASFHTPFTGUAGKOTDWAA2PDPTWFOTCHCERTU,OAINLHAAHHSH.

He who ran away like a spoilt kid who was promised a BMW but got an Audi instead, becoming the highest paid player in the game for someone that wouldn't register in the top 100 players and simultaneously forgot how to play football therefore giving us a goodbye kiss on the dick with an additional 2 prime draft picks that will far outweigh the contribution he could ever return to us, oh and I never liked him anyway and he has stupid hair.

    Far catchier I think.

    Oh, priceless...

  4. Jeeeesus!! Damned if he doesn't and damned if he does.

Well, only because everybody has their opinion, and by their nature, opinions differ.

All I've said is that I wish Liam well, because I am sure what he is going through sucks. However, I'm not really interested in justifications. I haven't made any comments about whether so-and-so should make X statements or not, or on Liam wanting to play for us or not, or for anyone. That's his call entirely, and I respect it.

I just found that post really patronising.

  5. Why shoot the messenger? RudeBoy could have taken the easy option and avoided posting anything on these forums, but instead had the decency to come on and attempt to provide a reasonable explanation... of course that's not going to satisfy those who put their love of footy ahead of any attempt to understand that LJ might have a few other things on his plate that take precedence at the moment... and as has been said a number of times already, none of us really know what discussions have taken place between LJ and the club.

Because the messenger is writing self-indulgent cr@p.

  6. I don't pretend to speak on Liam's behalf, but as his close friend I wanted to thank the many Dees supporters who took Liam into their hearts and supported him on his journey from Yuendumu to the MCG.

I understand why there are those who feel angry, bitter, betrayed and more than anything frustrated and disappointed at HIS DECISION to depart from the club. This decision was not made lightly, but was coming for quite some time, especially after he moved to Adelaide some weeks back. No-one on Demonland, nor indeed anyone except those personally close to Liam have any idea of the issues he has had to face this past year. Contrary to the perception shared by many, these personal issues are not the result of him being Aboriginal or from a remote community. They are complex, family problems which are his private business. However, he felt he could only deal with these issues by being amongst his family, many of which now live in Adelaide. I know it's hard to believe sometimes, but there are some things in life more important than football.

So rest assured, his decision to leave the Dees should not be read as an indictment on the club, or due to their mishandling of him. The club has been terrifically supportive and patient with Liam, and he and his family (and me) will always feel very appreciative of their efforts.

I hope he finds peace of mind and happiness being surrounded by his own mob in Adelaide. Maybe, he will also get another opportunity to play for an AFL club over there, but frankly, this is a secondary consideration just at the minute.

Thanks again to all who have supported Liam.

Look, I really do wish Liam all the best, but my honest reaction to this post was 'Oh, spare me'.

  7. This is the list from today's Age:

    Jared Rivers (groin) test

    Clint Bartram (knee) season

    Jamie Bennell (knee) season

    Michael Evans (back) season

    Max Gawn (knee) season

    Stef Martin (foot) season

    Cale Morton (shoulder) season

    Ricky Petterd (Achilles) season

    Rory Taggert (back) season

    Also not available

    Brad Green - retired

    Liam Jurrah - on leave

    Kelvin Lawrence - left club

Looks good - so Clarky might get a run at Casey?

    Poor old Age...

  8. No they don't. But the club needs to put more time into the media contingent because the above effort makes a mockery of us supporters. And we need them all

    People are gettingjack of it.

    Say nothing. DO.

OK, last time I'll bother to try to get through.

Player contracts mostly mandate a particular number of media and other appearances players and coaches must do.

And, while I'm prepared to be corrected on this, I am pretty sure the broadcast deal also mandates a particular number of appearances per club in various media, and the club allocates players and coaches to this accordingly.

Do you think the coaches do pre-match radio because they enjoy it? They don't, and they mostly talk meaningless rubbish.

Or because they think supporters care what they say half an hour before a match? I know I don't care, I'd rather Neeld was in the rooms reminding our players what manning up means.

Do you think James Hird wants to be interviewed at quarter time by some roving idiot, while he is wandering back up to the box?

Do you think players do media interviews before they've even wiped the mud off their faces because they are media whores?

Of course they don't. They do it because they are contractually obliged to do it.

  9. I work in the media mate. A bad interview is worse than silence.

    Tony Abbott comes to mind.

    Grip your own.

They are obliged to do them. Just like Tony Abbott. How does it look when Tony Abbott walks out of Parliament and refuses to say anything? Bad.

They don't have the 'silence' option, in reality.

  10. I actually think the whole AFl attitude to players and coaches having to do interviews is wrong.

What was gained from watching Ratten last weekend after his career just went down the toilet.

Or some kid clearly out of his depth?

Absolutely agree - but unfortunately that's the broadcasting deal that applies to each club. What's the point in an endless parade of kids talking the same garbage?

Although Patrick Dangerfield's interview on SEN after the game was exceptional. He is articulate, intelligent and frank, which is more than can be said for most.

  11. He's a tall Bryce Gibbs.

That's a pretty good start, in my book.

Think we all just have to wait to see whether he ends up as a tall Luke Hodge or Brendon Goddard, both of which would be a win for MFC.
