  1. I agree that the SC has been hijacked by bogans, but I don't think that it shows much resolve if one panders to the misguided nationalism of some. Why do you advocate meekly handing them ownership of such an iconic symbol ?
  2. I think there's been tonnes of speculation of what he might become. I'm not sure that that makes for an interesting poster though. I can remember posters speculating on so many ordinary footballers and what they may become. I found it boring. The skill is determining a players upside. Not many have that ability, but it's always been pretty easy to determine Watts' upside. It doesn't take a genius. Mind you, many in the media seem to have been slow to grasp his future worth. Why do you say I'm worried ? I'm merely stating where he needs to improve. When we drafted him I had expectations of a player that was hopefully destined to be a rung higher than Lyon, or Neitz. We need him to be a star. He was drafted by the MFC to be a star. And I don't mean your garden variety star that is trotted out around here. I watch his play and progress with this bench mark in mind. He is a one of a few bluestone foundations we have for a tilt at a flag. With this in mind, his performances and progress is always going to be scrutinised more than most.
  3. Naitanui is probably the most overhyped footballer I'v ever seen. And I use the word "footballer" loosely. Mark Fine had a good suggestion for Worsfold. Tell Naitanui to take the rest of the year off, go and study Ron Barassi's book from the 1970's about how to play football and come back for the preseason.
  4. I love it. It captures the essence of the club in a stunningly simple yet eye catching format. It tells a number of stories but doesn't lose a vibrant and sleek appearance. Doubt I'd change a thing.
  5. What did they say ? Watts has talent rarely seen in a tall. I've watched and liked him since I saw him play for Vic Metro and Brighton Grammar in 2008. That doesn't mean one can't detect flaws in his game that need to be eradicated for him to make the most of his ability. Watts plays a soft brand of footy. He'll need to crave more skin on skin contact to make the most of his footy career, otherwise he'll just become a good player. Obviously as he learns and gets bigger we hope and expect to see a more physical aspect to his game, but it doesn't come naturally. The great key forwards of all time had a hard edge to their games and crashed packs. I'm not sure why you need to post like a [censored] though.
  6. I suppose it's a noble sentiment, but I can never understand why supporters wish success upon another club. I wish utter failure upon the lot. (And yes, I realise that that's unrealistic, but you get my drift.)
  7. It's whatever I want it to be. Cook up nachos tonight.
  8. Young mids are always going to get a lot more of the ball than young tall defenders, which is why your use of stats to argue a point was moronic.
  9. Why ? She was a major part of the worst and most wasteful Govt since Whitlam's. She's "moving forward" because the past is so terrible. Most Govt's campaign on their record. Is she campaigning on this Govt's record ? Funny about that. Fortunately for her, the general population is so stupid that they don't notice their billions of wasted taxes. 10. Especially when one can't spell awfully. My apologies, I should accept how you are. Actually, I'm in awe.
  11. Gillard...Underwood...Gillard...Underwood..Gillard...Underwood Hmm
  12. By all means compare the merits of the RS between defenders and mids, but don't use various individual statistical criterion to make a valued judgment. There's no point comparing the stats of a mid and a tall defender. The comparison as to who has been more valuable to their side in determining the RS is obviously fine. Not sure why I needed to even point this out.
  13. What ?
  14. Absolutely. One has to compare like with like.
  15. On the contrary, it's actually Hannebery's slight inconsistency that may preclude him. Three times Hannebery has had 11 disposals, or less. Scully's worst is 14 (twice) and Trengove's lowest is 13 with the next worst 16. Hannebery has recorded 20, or more disposals 7 times in 14 games, whilst Scully has 9 x 20, or more in 15 and Trengove 9 in 14. And they both average more disposals per game than Hannebery.
  16. I watched the game closely. Bartram is a liability with the football. The sooner that players who regularly make mistakes are weeded out of the team the better. Bartram is one of many that make me cringe with the ball in their hands. You're easily satisfied.
  17. Yeah, he did a great job in keeping Eddie Munster to just 4 goals.
  18. There are only 3 players that can hold their heads high: Scully, Frawley and McKenzie. Astonishly, I think I even saw a couple of posters not include Scully in their votes.
  19. Good post, but success breeds success. Given a choice of a win, or a loss I'll always take the former. But I understand where you're coming from. Watts is definately playing with more urgency and giving us a glimpse of what's in store down the track. He's an amazing talent. Once he believes that he truly belongs and starts demanding the footy he'll dominate games. To do this he needs to have confidence in his body/strength. I was really disappointed that he missed that goal. I KNEW Dunn would miss, but I expected Watts to nail it. The greats come through in clutch moments and he didn't. The best golfers in the world make those curling 6 footers when they have to. They thrive and want to be in those exact situations. Next time he's in that situation I expect him to kick it. And I think he will.
  20. I hate that American expression.
  21. Bruce isn't young, Rivers isn't young, Moloney isn't young, Sylvia isn't young, Jones isn't young. They're just dumb. And not that good.
  22. Right now Jones is required for the very reasons you mention. He has his critics because he's a player of limited ability. If we're a genuine cance for a flag in 2015 I don't see Jones in our best 22. He doesn't have the elite reflexes, or decision making of the very best mids. How often have you seen Jones carrying 3 or 4 of the opposition mids on his back ? There's a reason that Scully and Trengove, or the best midfielders at other clubs don't evoke those same visions. They're adept at getting a quick and clean disposal to a player in a better position and they can do this under extreme pressure. Jones simply doesn't have the class to dispose in the same manner. We better hope that when we're genuinely challenging that Jones is on the periphery, because the same pressure that exposes him now goes up 3 notches in finals.
  23. Which is all that matters. Give me a Hardwicke type any day of the week.
  24. He wore no.8 last week at Frankston even though the record said 40 odd. After Scully and Trengove he's the mid that excites me most. And he really adds to that outside class we lack. With a solid preseason I can't see why he won't play a lot of games for the Dees next year.
  25. Morton will need to improve his intensity at the contest three fold if he's ever to emulate that skinny St.Kilda player. It was advocated that the reason he had been dropped was the poor defensive aspect of his game.
