  2. We need to see these :

    Heart

    Passion

    Anger

    Ownership of the contest

    Grit- Determination

    2nd, 3rd. 4th eforts

    sacrifice

and certainly not least Honour and Pride in wearing the Red and Blue

Nothing Less will be accepted any more

You have named it all... Now the players have to give it all !!! Just Give !!!! Have to leave the ground with heads held high and totally bloody exhausted !!!!! Win or lose !!Just give your gutses for the Club and all its supporters...

  3. Possible candidates "given" a possible change...

    Good reports on:

    Brendan McCartney

    Scott Burns

    Nigel Lappin

Funnily enough they're all associated with Collingwood and Geelong (or have been at Geelong; now at Essendon - McCartney). Burns is at West Coast.

Obviously anyone linked to Geelong, Collingwood are going to be highly sort after. ie. Watters, Neeld, etc

Here we go again !! Looking at the UNproven !!!! Why do we always do this...?? Look for a proven Big Name .. First !!! Please !!! If they are not available then look at plan B ??? At least show all Members that we have tried... Malthouse, Roos First please !!!!

  4. We have wiped our debt, we have to be one of the most proactive clubs going after coaches this year & probably next. We must pay top coin to get the best.

Otherwise we might as well be $6 million in debt again.

There is no doubt if we do not spend the right money on the right coach we "will" be 6 million dollars in debt (at least) again and possibly spend the next forty seven years doing what we have done over the past forty.....Nothing Much !!!!!

  5. Is this the same Matthews who recruited Travis Johnstone? ;)

I think it's the Same Matthews who coached Brisbane to 3 successive Premierships ,played in winning premierships for the Hawks, Coached Collingwood in 1990 to it's first Premierships in 32 years, has undeniably more football knowledge than DB would ever dream of having (score is on the Board???) Oh and yes you are right... recruited Travis Johnstone, whom was originally a number 1 Melbourne Footy Club Draft Pick, I believe...What an indictment on his overall ability... I "don't" think.

  6. im not sayin matthews as head coach but matthews as part of the football team with a viney or someone as head coach.

you reckon mark thompson does much except help create the culture at essendon?

Barrassi helped change Sydney, Matthews could play a director of coachin role.

He wouldnt accept Baileys antics, nor Mortons softness, nor our clubs mediocrity

Morton's Softness... I agree... But he is not alone...?? I don't know who we need , but I do know we Don't need Bailey.

  7. Do you really think the Club does not realise how unsatisfactory the performance has been???? How self defeating is it for supporters not to turn up?

    "Rhino"

You want to know (or maybe you don't, I care not anymore) what I think of all my "Knockers" and sarcastic Smart A...ses on this site that have given me sh..t almost every time I posted.???.. Probably not, as those "knockers" no longer have a leg to stand on... After Thursday night ??? That was worse than most games we played last year or any other year ??? We have no inspiration, no determination and honestly most players looked like they couldn't give a stuff. Where are all the Bailey defenders now ????? He spoke to the media and to me he could not inspire a five year old let alone men (or boys) Morton is a dud !! Jones sidestepped a confrontation... Again !! Gysberts didn't look too good at all did he ?? Too easily pushed aside...Sorry to name those players.. There were a lot more in the same boat !! I am today ashamed to admit I am a Melbourne Supporter and feel like handing in my Long treasured Membership.. I no longer care what crap about how we are going to be a force in the future is being bandied about Still !!!!.. I have been listening to that bs for too many years now and reading similar waffle on this site.. I will now communicate directly with the club and strongly support a campaign to "Get rid of Bailey " and maybe one or 2 other so called members of the football Dept. We are undoing all the good work Jimmy Stynes has done... Sorry Jim..

  8. I've defended Bailey in these arguments, but I have to admit, I'm starting to think change is needed. We are young, we have talent, we were never going to be a great side this year. But this continual poor starts, with lack of structure and very ordinary skills during games...even the suns have more structure than we do.

If you are still defending Bailey even in the slightest you will soon be in the minority and one of our 20,000 members we may be lucky enough to retain next year if he is anywhere near the Club... How the hell did we hire him.. Loved to have been a fly on the wall at the interviews.. All I was hearing from my so called "friends" whom all are members of other AFL clubs, was, Dean Who ??? Bailey where is he from ?? What AFL club did h we play for ??? Was embarrassing then and it's more so now... !!! If he doesn't go, Members will.... in droves !! Come back and tell me I was wrong ... If he stays... I will be happy to apologize... Don't need any more of this humiliation from all around me when The Dees put in performances like last night... and, sadly. they are too frequent !!! Please Sack Bailey very, very soon. Choose wisely next time... We seem to buy the cheapest Coaches... !!! WE Have to spend !!! No more Home Brand material...

  9. Agree, both our Jacks never stopped trying.. Trengove & Watts can hold their heads up high.

Jack Grimes doesn't do too badly either ?? It's what most of our players are not doing at the moment that is the most "notable" "Jack" of all...... Jack S..t !!!

  10. 1. Four quarter intensity. Enough said.

    2. Green playing as a deep forward, leading to the ball carrier. That is, IMO, where he plays his best football. I don't like him on the wing, I don't like him up the ground. I like him deep, getting on leads, and marking in front of his defender. He is not playing well, which may or may not be related to the captaincy, but I think the best thing to do with him is put him deep.

    3. Tweak the game plan/structure. It's time for some small but important changes. For one, we need to ensure we leave our forwards closer to goal. This gives us a get-out option, and it means when we're bringing the ball out of defence we have forwards leading towards the ball carrier, not away from them. It looks good when we play well to have our forwards streaming into space towards goal, but that only works when the opponent's defence is a shambles, and in 2011, maybe the Gold Coast and Port Adelaide are the only sides who can't defend that tactic well enough. Players like Watts, Jurrah, Green and Petterd are all mobile enough to make leads towards the ball carrier and then double back and make leads back into space when required.

    4. Something that resembles a plan for kick-ins. I'm sick of us kicking long to a contest. It doesn't work, it's predictable, and it's dumb. We need to work on who takes the kicks, who gives us the short option, whether we're going to move the ball via hand, foot, or by running, and who is going to position themselves where in order to make this happen. It's a shambles at the moment.

    5. A tighter defensive press when we're defending. We're too loose and we don't apply the same pressure on the opposition that we are feeling when we have the ball.

How much are the FD paid to come up with something simple like this ???? But Can't.... !!!!! Brad Green is a good player and has been a great player for the club... But an inspirational Captain , he is Not ! I love the guy.. He is having one of his poorest seasons if not his worst ?? Captaincy doesn't appear to have done much for Brad's on-field performances ?? We cannot keep making excuses for our Young inexperienced list !! Essendon, for instance turned up against Collingwood with an 18 year old who made most of their experienced players look average... How can we keep using excuses about our 19 to 22 year olds. Are some of our players too comfortable with their places in the team and their nice salaries to care much about whether they give their hearts for the club ??Where has the "demon" gone from this once upon a time Great Football Club ???

  11. no need to discuss baileys contract - sack is all we need

3 years to create a hard n tough culture n hasnt

Yay !! All my true supporters are coming out now !!! I trust I will still get the usual Members giving me crap !! Water off a Duck's Back.. My dear old Mum used to say "The proof of the pudding is in eating" and "If you don't have confidence, you'll always find a way not to win."

We do not have confidence and Nobody to instill it in us... We do have the list bar a couple only...

  12. I may as well start it...time for the Melbourne Footy Club to show some balls for the first time in a while and get rid of this bloke. Zero improvement in the skill level over four seasons, and the lack of a game plan is concerning to say the least.

You have said it... Don't ever be hesitant in saying whatever you like on here. Everybody else does. Oh , by the way, I totally agree with you.. Now it needs to happen or we are in the wilderness for another 4 plus decades...

  13. This is how I see it, as to where we are at.

    2007 > list sort

    2008 > List build

    2009 > List build

    2010 > List build/development

    2011 > development/ladder improvement

    2012 > development/ladder improvement

    2013 > Top 6

Last year we had a list with some players who were as good as they could be. The older of this group finished at the club.

Rollout 2011, and we have a more talented list, but mostly kids now with few games under their collective belts. Compare to GC suns who have as much talent, but little experience. We're ahead of them by about 2 years.

Essendon have not scraped the barrell of their list, have many topline players in Fletcher, Hille, Watson, Ryder, and a young champ in Hurley... All Big Bodied players who can impose on the games.

Our most senior players are in order of most games played > Green, Davey, Moloney, Rivers, Sylvia, Jamar, Macdonald, Jones, then Bartram on 84 games. We are coming off scraping the bottom of our barrell and hitting rock bottom, are now in teaching mode for the basic AFL skills onfield.

    I think we'll finish around 9th.

Thats not too bad with so many kids being brought on together in one group. Some are timid types. When they click, it will be quick, as they're learning together with around the same No of games played.

You want to know what I think of all my "Knockers" and sarcastic Smart A...ses on this site that have given me sh..t almost every time I posted.???.. 14. I just got back from Easter hols...........

You better keep your opinions to yourself mate. I see you are another "rookie" on this site and they are howling you down and asking you to "P" off already. (take the rest of the week off) Please agree with the "established" members or be prepared to cop some sarcasm and fair dinkum berating !!! Oops I am in trouble again... I started this post and I have certainly started something I never dreamed I would... Ha !! Ha !! I especially love the Guy called Biease (is it an i or an l ?? Some have found it hard to tell the difference I have been told). Agree, take a soft line or as you have already been told. "take a holiday"

  15. You learn something new every Monday.

I couldn't agree more. And as you are a school teacher I hope you do. I am learning very quickly that it is a good thing this is an "unofficial" site of the Melbourne Football Club or we would have even less Financial members of the genuine AFL Melbourne Football Club. Some of you need to take a step back and think about what you are supposed to be on here for. To promote and discuss the subject topic or hang crap on new members to the site.??. the worst kind of humour is sarcasm and the worst kind of comedians are those who laugh at their own poor attempts at humour ...e.g. Biese for one.. I absolutely assure you You have no effect on me whatsoever..I am just disillusioned by the site and disappointed it has such long term members on it that deter new members with their attitudes.. The best, most polite replies I have had have been from the Rookies... and a small number of Older members.. Good night..

  16. I must say in wyl's defense that up until recently I thought your name was pig too. Easy mistake as any monkey can see it's very easy to confuse. I thought someone with an IQ of 145 would have been able to use their brilliant mind to figure that one out.

Are you punking Demonland? You have me in tears with your need for attention.

I am not here to be punking Demonland.. I don't need attention. 145 is not genius level.. far from it.. you are way, way off the mark.. I do not claim to have a brilliant mind. I also do not read minds thus the reason why I didn't at the time figure out what wyl intended. Sorry, Summer Biease. I thought I had heard the last of this sort of stuff since I posted a reply on the matter. I doubt the monkeys at Melbourne Zoo could see what you claim they can..When is all this crap going to stop !! Welcome to Demonland ...I don't think..

  17. Sorry you took it that way... it was not intended to be condescending at all... just direct. I thought it was fairly apparent that what was intended by defining moment, was that it is a moment that will define the course for the rest of the season. Anyway, at least we are both clear on that now.

As far as school results and IQ tests go, I don't really place much importance in those - after repeating year 12 (called Matriculation back then) and passing just English, I have since managed to go on to have a reasonably successful career as a Technical Writer (now with Oracle) with absolutely no formal qualifications. I always tell my children to be smart rather than intelligent... although they seem to be quite intelligent despite my "discouragement" - must be their mother's influence :-)

Yes I went through the Matriculation bit for one year and decided I had to work because my mum was ill and money was tight in my family at the time. I worked as a Credit Manager for over thirty years 10 of which I spent with Mayne Nickless and more recently at the ATO as a Taxation Compliance Officer..(I guess I will be even less popular now) I am recently retired. My three children have done very well for themselves I am happy to say, but alas, two are St.Kilda Supporters (I did something wrong there) I think I have come to a defining moment on this site and I may have to mellow a little as I feel I may have been a tad aggressive or something like that.. being a dedicated demon can be testing at times..

  18. I am a school teacher, and my username has that number that phantom is bantering around (45) and I've met a few smart people...what were we talking about?

Not sure .. Haven't heard from you before ?? Don't believe we were talking about anything in particular.. Just having a joke with a couple of members.. Lightening up a little that's all.I am not too sure what a really "smart" person is sometimes. Take care... Go Dees.

  19. Ok, so it was a sarcastic remark directed at you following the rather odd commentary regarding Bailey based on his press conference appearances. And as you are one of the "sack Bailey" proponents, then it would be fair to extrapolate and say it is a dig at others of a like mind to yourself.

Now I would suggest you attempt to understand (as opposed to read) what I say. The defining moment comment refers to the fact that if we can get up for that game and achieve a victory, then it should set us on the course for many more victories. As you surely must realise, footy is a game of confidence and momentum... hence this could well be a pivotal game.

And I suggest that if you want me to read what you are saying rather than think what you might be saying, perhaps you could be a little more concise and lose a lot of the waffle (a term bandied about by many an English teacher) from your posts; it would make them far easier to read and understand... seriously.

The feeling is quite mutual. Understand what I say and not "read" to use your words. the way you address me is what I would define as condescending, with all due respect. I am not a child and I had, at last testing, an I.Q. of 145 and don't need your "school teacher" approach (more waffle ?) Now you have explained in more detail what you actually meant by your defining moment,(been more concise) I see what you were trying to say. but I will stick with my "waffle". You may call it waffle, some others may and some may not. BY the way I was awarded a 91 % mark in English Level 3 at Matriculation College, which at that point in time was the second highest mark at Hobart Technical College. A long while ago admittedly, but nevertheless a high achievement..

  20. I must confess I read it as pig (little i). I run my screen at quite a high resolution (hence smaller font size), plus my eyesight aint what it was so from where i sat the l looked like an i especially in the font style the poster was using. Sometimes the brain reinterprets what one sees to fit what seems most likely.

Anyway a harmless misunderstanding, and it just wasn't one poster who misunderstood.

Its easy enough to change you nickname (maybe all caps) cos I'm sure other posters in the future will make the same misunderstanding

Thank you for your clarification, but I chose plg because they are my initials..

  21. A little l can look very similiar to a capitol I...

Thank you nice try but my ID is clearly plg (lower case). No capitals to mistake for lower or upper case. not pig as was written on 2 separate posts after I obviously rubbed the poster the wrong way.. I think it best I forget it. It's over and I will move on to the next post hopefully without offending too many members.I have since read some insulting and some bordering on aggressive remarks between some members.. I can't be holding my mouth right ?? (joke) I was also censored by Rhino a couple days ago He deleted the post) for writing in Capital letters and was promptly told it was unacceptable to type in capitals as it implied I was shouting. I have checked various posts since and have observed many occasions where members have written complete words in capitals.. ??? That didn't help my welcome to the site..
