I agree with this approach, though you need a star or two to build around (which hopefully we can draft), like Richmond have in Cotchin and Riewoldt. Wouldn't say Maric has contributed much to Richmond either.

I'd consider resorting to self harm if we recruited another Cook. Yep I'm sold, I wonder how many kg's he could put on in the next year? One thing that is an issue is the MD pick we are able to get. Say we got pick 2, and Hogan is taken pick one, I don't think Martin would be a good fit for us, though I don't know much about the other possibles. So do you think we would comfortably get him with pick 2 in the MD, and if not would it take pick 3 in the national to get MD pick 1?

Not sure why Neeld would be 'blindsided'. Pretty clear that he isn't in the coaches plans. Maybe Ricky wanted to make the first move before he was offered up?

Hogan sounds good, it's just the one year wait that annoys me. I'm sure it'll bother a lot of other people too as he'll probably be judged as another skinny young kid, more time to develop and more time on the bottom of the ladder. However from what I've heard he could come in in 2014 and have an impact straight away so if we can trade say pick 4 for a MD pick that can be used on Hogan and grab Viney in the second round as part of a deal through all this, I'm all for it.

I'll start simple (though it probably isn't simple at all) - win three games on the trot. If we can do that some time in the near future, I'll have confidence in the MFC and hopefully we will no longer be the laughing stock of the whole comp. My wish is to one day be feared as a side that is a threat, rather than recieve sympathy for being purely embarrassing. Ah I have to dream!

No one could come out and say whether Neeld is a good/bad coach this early, because it just can't be told yet. I think mid next year we will be able to judge his abilities, but in the meantime I think he has something - the increase in contested ball and tackles is promising.

There shouldn't be any ill feeling I think; if Brent doesn't want to work hard or change etc, and Neeld doesn't want to accept that (which he shouldn't), he is better off out of the MFC. That is a win for us and a win for him, presuming he isn't told to change to much at his next club. Don't understand the hate.

Yep JV's debut and the trade period. Happens every year... so much hope early on and then before you know bam! the draft is our finals series, again.
