Paul Roos on 5AA - Tyler as list manager?
Little Richard replied to Indeed's topic in Melbourne Demons
Love hearing his thoughts on the other coaches... wants coaches who don't have to learn his style too much so we could see a more rapid rise than expected perhaps as these guys already know how each other operate. -
Are they able to elevate Clisby with a year left or was he on a one year contract only?
-
He has done very well for them. Every time they run the ball out of their back half with pace and deliver it with precision, that's Shaun Atley. Without him their drive would be cooked.
-
Atley would be a bloody good pick up.

I got an email today about 30% off Kaspersky Internet security... are we back on with them?

Outrageous player predictions for 2014
Little Richard replied to nutbean's topic in Melbourne Demons
I want to see Magner (if kept) become an integral part of the midfield. With Roos and a good midfield coach I think it's not that outrageous. -
Reported by the club site.

Yeah I appreciate his efforts and obviously he wasn't working with the best, but he has a big hand in their development and has to be held accountable. It got to the point where the situation probably wasn't benefiting either party so the right decision has been made, finally.

Cheers. If you want to be that closed minded then that's okay, it's a bloody stupid way to think though. Taylor has been one of the best recruiters in the last half decade or so - look at the quality of Collingwood's midfield in particular. He'll do well for us.

Jnr MacDonald knocked back coaching gig at dees
Little Richard replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
I find a grudge goes well with tomato, sometimes barbeque. -
Pick 2 and Watts for Swallow is far too much. Sloane isn't worth 2 either. Pick 2 alone should easily get it done for Swallow. If they want more, we tell them to shove it up their clacker.
-
On top of that, Swallow's size is much more preferable than Aish. Obviously Aish's skills are supposed to be top notch but I think we have to get a couple of extractors (which Swallow can definitely be) first.
-
What will he offer? Nothing on the field and only negative influence on culture. Not a chance.
-
I'm interested in this too. Isn't Stone a recruiter? I would have thought Jason Taylor would have to be kept on, not really having had a go of it yet.
-
I suppose assistants doesn't include Todd Viney but I hope to God he hangs around.
-
Wonder who's paying him?

Not sure about all these ideas about recruiting a good senior player for a year or two and then turning them into a coach. Not all good players make good coaches, very few in fact.

Colin Sylvia is yet to decide if he will remain at Melbourne
Little Richard replied to Romey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've been a long time critic of Sylvia and I still don't like him but the facts are these: He is basically our second best midfielder, no matter what he 'might' have become. He is a senior figure and God knows we are lacking in those, especially ones who can actually put a half decent game of footy together, which Col can. If you check out his stats for the year I think you might be surprised BB. He is not going to be the superstar we all thought he could be but the point is he is one of our best now and we can't discard our better players as we have few enough as it is who are of AFL standard. To add to that, one of the most important steps we have to take as a footy club is retaining senior players and treating them with a bit more respect, as Ron points out. Unless we can find a suitable replacement and then some, we should do what we can to hold on to him. -
Something like that. Swallow's first season was exceptional and he averaged just under 20 disposals and 4 tackles in a very young midfield. His second year was hampered by injury and this season was played off the half back and was a bit scratchy for form, however still averaged 19.3 disposals and 3.4 tackles. There is still an absolute gun in Swallow and if we could get him for pick two it would be a great deal for us.

Colin Sylvia is yet to decide if he will remain at Melbourne
Little Richard replied to Romey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sylvia would be a big loss - we can't afford to let another senior player (and an okay one at that) depart. I'd back Roos to help Col lift to a level we haven't seen from him before. -
Next season will be a big improvement and I've got no doubt about this now that we have (mostly) the right people in the right places. Some clever recruiting, a bit of luck at the draft and most of all some confidence and team bonding, we could be better than expected next season. Port did it, we can too.

Frawley ain't going anywhere.

Oh really? The stats for Dunstan I read had him at 183cm. In regards to weight, Kennedy is actually 96 KG - huge.
