I met a mate and his young son after the game and walked into town with them.

The young fella, decked out in his signed Steve May jumper, was [censored] a hoop.

Loving life, kicking his footy, talking about the game and loving his team.

Wise beyond his years, he knows you celebrate and enjoy the wins when they come.

He was just happy he'd be able to show his face in the classroom this week without the "What happened to Melbourne." chant.

There is NO reason for ever preferring a loss over a win. And that’s exactly what “worst possible result” (after a win) means.

    Yes ... A little extreme.
But does it really matter what some unknown on the internet posts.
    Everyone is allowed an opinion.
Whether you agree with it or not.

So, losing this match would’ve been fine because it would mean we’re one step closer to “getting rid of” our coach? Wowww. That’s a new low.

    Ahh ... No it's not.
    But that's half the problem.
    Seen this movie before.
    And it aint good.

You can’t love something you disdain.

sounds like a toxic relationship. Why do you stay?

    It's complicated.
I don't love the club anymore like I once did.
Final straw was probably stinking up 2020 after stinking up the prelim in WA.
And toxic is a fair description.
They had a chance to redeem themselves after the flag but they've continued to sheet the bed and self destruct since, embarrassing the supporters with their metal weakness.
Soon we'll resume to normal programming after having watched Goodwin squander the window with his ugly, tedious and uninspiring game plan.
Even those brief few years when we were "Good" we were god awful to watch.

I do have an "escape from the relationship" plan tho'.
When we're back to sunday arvo games I'll probably leave the relationship with both the club and AFL.

Why are people having a pop at Gary Lyon. To say he has disdain for the club is way off the mark. He was obviously delighted in the rooms after our victory in 21.

I have distain for the club I love.
    I know how Gary feels.
Felt that way even when he was captain.
Had a great side and we're all over the shop back then too.
Cause for some reason this club aint right in the head.

He's not just a bitter and twisted old fart; he's the grand master of crankiness, with a PhD in grumbling and a black belt in complaining. Oh, and thanks for the Mark Neeld tip you *&^%.

The only reason Malthouse gave Neeld a glowing reference was because he was soon to be replaced by Buckley and was doing his best to burn the joint down behind him getting rid of Buckleys future support staff.

I also think knowing he was going a year prior Malthouse traded in both Luke Ball and Darren Jolly which topped up the Malthouses pies for their Premiership tilt in 2010.
I doubt he would have gone all in and traded for 2 older players if he thought he'd be staying around.

It’s a wonder injuries of this nature  don’t occur on a regular basis given the situation of a player caught under the ball with 195 cm monsters coming from behind to spoil happens numerous times every game.

A moment in time I'll ever forget was when I was behind the goals at the Jolimont end watching Mebourne V Geelong during the 80's.
High fly ball into the goal square and you had Ablett, Brownless, Danny Hughes and aother Melbourne defender I can't recall coming from different directions at near full pace to converge at the drop of the ball.
4 big men , knees up, flying for the mark/spoil with reckless abandon for their personnel safety.
No-one actually took the mark, no-one was injured but at the time it was something I felt like putting my hands to my face and watching through my fingers such was the impact.
Awesome stuff up close and what makes ya pay ya money to go see it.

Pipe dream. Id encourage everyone to brace themselves for a turbulent 2nd half of the season.

The players are 1-2 losses away from completely checking out. Once finals become mathematically improbable, watch the freefall. Our soft underbelly will be exposed.

    Hmmnn ....
Where have I seen this before 😕

Yeah let's ban stops because the scratch people, what a load of [censored], first question how many of these injuries have there been since the game began over how many games? Seriously what next ban the meat pie because it will burn your mouth, well not at the MCG anyway just leave the game alone.

    Correct.
I cannot remember a single player being knocked out and stretchered off after a hanger had been taken on them.

  10. Letting Collingwood do what they wanted with Langdon after the "Duck/Dinner" hype of the previous week was a disgrace.
Also saw Weitering standing over Pickett last year trying to intimidate him with his size after they exchanged a few words.
The only fella who turned up to support Pickett was Spargo who grabbed Pickett and steered him away.
Players have gotta know their teammates aren't gonna let them to get publicly mugged by their opponents.
Viney will always fly the flag but though tough he's also small.
And when he does, usually against a larger opponent .... He gets no back up.
Not good enough as a team.

Again another weak response.  Aside from Viney, how many blokes actually fly the flag.  Not many soldiers in the trenches !!!!

Yep ... And though he's tough as they come he aint big or scary.

We stunk up the joint today on the biggest stage in front of 85,000.

And this is what bugs me the most.
Essendon and Collingwood are celebrated on ANZAC day because no matter how bad either of them are going they put on a show usually.

Us ... Nup, turn up our toes like the basket case we are.

Oh .... And sick of all the BS coming from the club.
    Just STFU and play.
Don't care what ya think ya gonna do.
    Just forken .... DO.

  13. Ah Demonland post loss.
Get tired of dissecting the game and then turn on each other.

I've just dropped by to declare my disgust before bed as I prepare to face the clowns at work in the morning.
But hey, done it most my life so I'll just chuckle, agree the Dees are a joke and move on.
Gonna be in a world of pain when Tassie comes in.
But hey, done that a few times before too eh.

    Chins up folks.
