  1. In a wholistic "love of the game" (as opposed to "love of the club") point of view, is what he (Demetriou) is doing actually wrong?

I think it's in the best interests of the game.

They have erred on the side of ensuring success for the new teams, but I think that is understandable.

He's treating the supporters of established clubs with contempt , that's what he's doing/what he does .

How will you feel if 1 of the new club snatches a flag before we do ?

  2. I like the idea of red caps that stand out in the hope of turning the MCG crowd into a sea of red .

Having said that I'm looking forward to seeing 20,000 flashing red demon horns out there . B)

  3. I would also like to note to all those complaining about a low-scoring game, that one of my biggest gripes about Aussie rules is the ease with which goals are scored. One player getting their hands on the ball for a second is enough for a goal to happen. Where are the tactics in that? Where is the team play? What so many bemoan as boring because there are no goals being scored is to me a tight tactical battle. How can you not love seeing the resolution as an hour's work results finally in a breakthrough goal?

How do you like the resolution when a player takes a dive in the hope the opposition is reduced to 10 players ?

Maybe you enjoy the tactics of diving in the penalty box at the 79th minute to steal the game .

During the last WC there were 2 players trying to lay claim to the next "Hand of God" goal , in effect stating that they cheated and were looking to cement their place in history by doing it .

    Great tactics these.

  4. would loooove the red cuffs back!!!! all in all very very happy with the jumpers, the stars tho are my only concern, i think we should of waited till we won a flag too put that on!!!

Nah , love the stars .

Heaps of dicks out there need reminding that we have a history of success .

Had a Swans supporter ask scornfully today "Whats with the fricken stars ?"

"Means 12 flags to your piddly 4." I replied .

    Shut him straight up .

  5. I love the game (not as much as AFL) but it really does have some ugly elements to it.

It's like a beautiful girl who wears too much makeup and fake tan.

More like a prostitute that fakes the orgasm and steals your wallet .

  6. We would have beaten the Hawks fairly easily if it had stayed dry that day IMO. When you watch the game every time the sun was out we were all over them, but when it rained and made it more of a stoppage game they were just too good in close for us.

Yep , when the sun was out we blitzed 'em and I'll call a draw for Frawley and Franklin . ;)

  7. It will be harder this year to grow our memberships with out good early performance. We have hype that has been created last year and will go into 2011, a good profit announcement over the next few days a couple of new sponsers announcements will continue to build the hype leading into the season but early wins can push our membership to 38-40,000. It would be nice to win some preseason games, from memory I think we have won 1 in three years.

Last years membership took a hit when we lost to Freo during the pre-season , few realised that Freo were going to be the big movers in the comp .

We'd been touched up by another lower ladder side and improvement over the summer seemed non-existant .

Then we came out and had our pants pulled down by Hawthorn in rd1 , mmmnn bad times they were.

If you were on the fence thinking about a membership at the time , you might've kept your dough .

If they can come out come firing with some strong early games , those on the fence will get on board .

38-40,000 would be brilliant but 36-37,000 max IMO .

  8. Seems most people on here aren't exactly sentimental -

    Mate ' we've been sentimetal since '64 .

Frankly , I've had it up to ear with sentiment .

I want the ultimate success and if the club have to be ruthless to get it , I'm right behind it .

  9. Pointless exercise. We are the greatest. :)

I agree , the commentaters wax lyrical about Brisbane and Geelong , Sheedy reakons it was them in 2000 .

Somehow our 50's side is always forgotten .

I wasn't there but for the better part of a decade we must've been fricken awesome .

  10. I know it is easy to draw up some hard and fast line for Bailey next year but...

If you are talking about the court of public opinion then, yes, people will not be happy losing games we should win.

However, if it is the FD/Schwab then they have to take into account other factors like injuries, 'footy sucks, sometimes' games, etc.

If we are playing well in most games and continue to be competitive, and continue to blood our talent I can put up with a less than stellar 2011. I don't care about finishing 6th and bombing out in the first round, I want to win a flag.

I want them to show they're hungry for success every single game.

I want them to show us they're as hungry as we are .

If that leads us to 6th great , if it means 9th ... too bad .

  11. I want more consistancy from week to week .

I want pressure put on the opposition every week from the start of games , not just matches they've set themselves for .

I want wins against all clubs below us and a couple of big scalps from those above .

I want us to smash North , thump the Bombers , take down the Blues and stick it up the Pies .

I just want more proof that we are definately on the way to where we want to go .

Is that too much ?
