I strongly disagree. Almost 50 years without a premiership, probably level with St Kilda and Fitzroy as the worst team of the last 50 years, almost killed by poor administration a couple of times, poor selection of coaches, pathetic facilities, poorly managed finances, and still have 35,000 members pay up each year when there is little chance of a successful onfield season. If that is not thought thick and thin I don't know what is. I don't believe that there is a club in the AFL with more loyal supporters than Melbourne.
I've always said that its easy to support a club thats at the top of the table.
It shows character to endure what we have IMO.
And it's also been shown that we have the lowest turnover of members from year to year.

A career too short - Rhino Richards
If Neeld wants grunt (and pace) he would have loved Russell. Did a huge don't argue one day on, was it, Dipper?
Richards career was quite long enough.
Had the tools but very rarely produced.
Kicked about 3 goals against the top side Dawks and earned his nickname Rhino by putting dipper on his arze the day you mentioned but that was about the total sum of his career.

Or he was given instructions by Sheedy to set the tone. As a leader he went in and showed that they wouldn't be physically dominated and did his best to intimidate right from the start.
Didn't take Sheedy long to turn a ball player into a thug .
Won't do McDonalds reputation any favours if he spends his last year ironing out kids.

The skills of both teams is pretty ordinary (Buckley got plenty of the ball and butchered it every time).
Funny you should say that .
Went fishing with a mate who is a Pies supporter on the weekend who is good mates with Nigel Lappin.
Lappin reakons the Lions rarely bothered putting a tag on Buckley as they knew he wouldn't hurt 'em .
Anthony Rocca was their main focus apparently.

Macca was good at racking up 30 nothing possessions .
There .... I said it .

Can't believe the AFL is confirming by Tweet now .
-
I hope we can stop using him as a constant reference point when posting.
BJ & AJ .
Before Jim .... After Jim .

On another Tangent .
Interesting the difference in mindset for Mcdonald since listening to the aggressive Sheedy for a pre-season .
In spite of being on the MRP over the last year, McDonald though a strong tackler with us, ran past the ball to make heavy high contact with an opposition player .
Can't remember him delivering too many hits of that calibre while running around in red & blue.
-
Players now have a duty of care to not collect other players for better or worse.
For worse .
-
Unfortunately, I think he will be getting a little holiday.
Nice first test for the MRP.
I haven't looked at it closely (ie whether his feet were on the ground etc) but geez that looked a good hit.
Thats the problem with todays game , the Fat Controller has sanitised it far too much.
As for the MRP , my tip is , due to Vlad & GWS circumstances ...... He'll get off.

Anyone have a league that needs a player ?
-
The guy may have done well in making money for the game, but he is tearing it's heart out to do it.
I agree, he had to put his grubby fingerprints all over it.

Nice one HG, but I dunno if it was such a good idea to let us all no such info....for your sanity that is, GL with that.
PS. I'm sure your proud of Col & to b his brother.
Yep , cover Blown .
I'd like to know what really went on leading up to 186 and what "Hells Gates/Cols" take on it was.

What is Akers career again , dial-a-dumb-quote ?
-
But Erin Mcnaughty is gonna be on it .

As you should be, but this is a man who likes a camera or a microphone in front of him.
He will say things just for a rise.
I wouldn't bother giving it to him.
I am more concerned with this:
"As long as they know ... this is not Melbourne where you can just walk in and steal the players. If you do this at Collingwood, good luck."
Gotta agree . Maquires arrogance riles me like no other.
Even yesterday he wrote how he and Stynes would talk about building up the QB clash.
This after numerous backhanders of late in the media with several threats to get the QB game taken off us.
Would love Mclardy to step up and rip some shreds off him.
Point out a few home truths that Maquire turns a hypocritical blind eye too.

Same goes for supporters. We have a duty to uphold the Stynes name.
We cannot let the club disend into the state of disrepair that it was before Jim took over.

My sister (on left) and cousin getting a picure with the great man ..... 56 seconds in.
And resulting pic with (me in the black hat and sunnies) over my cousins shoulder.

No words , just tears .
RIP Jimmy .

I've heard gravely ill and Jim Stynes together 100 times and we still stand here today idolising the man who after so many tumours, still has a beating heart.
Until I hear the words he has been lost, you know he won't give up fighting and it's a life lesson that so many of us can applaud.
One thing we know about Jim.
It won't be over till it's over.

Neeld knows he only get 1 shot if he can't turn this basket case around.

WYL I have been around log enough to have seen guys like HM play.
They played in a golden era for the MFC like Brisbane and Geelong of recent times.
I can understand how Hassa Mann feels, I know a couple of his contemporaries personally.
They are very proud of the club and people they played with.
I saw them, their pride is not misplaced.
I am happy they have been presented with Blazers, I am happy that they have been honoured in this way.
They richly deserve it
However it is now half a century ago.
I struggle with how wallowing in events of 50+ years ago helps the players of today or the supporters who want success in 2012 and beyond.
I struggle with how this gets us new members
We have to remember that our glory days are 50 years ago.
It is well and truely time to make some more glory days.
Couldn't have said it better myself .... Apart from the 1st line.

Our performance again reported as "Insipid" in the Age.
I'm sick to freakin' death with insipid.
Thought with all Neelds tough talk we might finally get rid of this tag.
Obviously not.

I mentioned some time ago that our recruiting had been appalling and was shouted down; I wonder if those that did the majority of the shouting would care to comment now. They know who they are.
I had the gall to state as much this past week .
Recieved the same from the fairy floss.
Am I asking too much?

Same when Scully came and the players were in awe of his fitness and professional attitude.
Had the good sense to take the money and run.
And we thought he was stupid.
