That's a stretch. He showed some promise, that's it
Weren't too many broken hearts when he went ... until he started playing well
Hindsight is your friend, Dazzle
I live in the real world
Not sure if you're just bored and playing devils avocat today Macca.
I saw Bedfords potential from his 1st draft clips.
He had what we needed .... Speed and liked to kick a goal.
Didn't get a run at it cause he couldn't get past the one paced Premiership medallion wearing coach favourite Spargo.
As for Jordan, he was never the flashy player but if he had the ball I was confident it was going to another guy in a red & blue jumper.
He too struggled to get a run at it as he was most often relegated to sub and as far as I was concerned it was a disgrace that Goodwin couldn't or wouldn't get him onto the ground grand final day.
Haven't seen what he's been doing lately tho' but from what I gather he's a good tagger.
I don't think Goodwin was ever big on taggers as he'd always back our mids in.
I was disappointed for Jordan and understood exactly why he went looking for opportunities elsewhere.
The Bedford decision was definitely disappointing from my end.
But hey, I aint the coach, I don't make the decisions on list management or gameplan (much to my dismay).
But if I did we'd be doin' things a hell of alot differently.
We'd be playing fast, aggressive and what I like to call "entertaining" footy and drawing more than 25k to home MCG games.
And I'll tell ya somethin' else for nothin'.
If I thought any player was bludging or not doin' what I told 'em.
They wouldn't be playin'. -

23 minutes ago, Macca said: Goodwin is not the head recruiter
So this year he has been handed a list of duds who can't (or won't) adopt a new game plan
The players are a lazy lot
Don't let them off the hook by just blaming the coach
They are getting paid $Millions to underperform
The head recruiter is told what the coach wants and does his best to recruit them.
The coach decides who gets to run onto the ground.
And by your argument he's been allowing these lazy buggers to run onto the ground.
1st game against GWS we had 5 debutants and gave them a run for their money due to their enthusiasm that the older blokes fed off.
The list is far too comfortable knowing even if they just trot around half arzed they'll still be gettin' a game next week cause a few years ago they won a flag.
As Barassi once said. " if given the choice of a bloke with talent or a goer, I'll take the goer every time." -

Looking forward to watching Caitlyn Clarke tear all those jealous ghetto horsehair wig wearers to bits myself.
She's a Hoopastar.
As for us I've got nothing but a foreboding sense of .... Doom.
But I really like the look of Langford.
Hope Goodwin doesn't ruin him. -

We need to move past this idea that footy is a ‘man’s’ game and everyone should toughen the F up. If Trac was my family, I’d ask a few questions and lose trust in the club and its medical staff.
im sure the club has invited the family into the rooms and facilities and encouraged them to play a role over the years. You can’t have it both ways…
And that's how you end up with tantrum throwing adults.
Yes it was a workplace incident, a football accident.
Part of the reason footballers get to sign 7mill contracts.
No you can't have it both ways. -

Just saw that.
I dunno why the club needs to be breaking bread with Petraccas parents anyway.
He's 29yr old man FFS.
If a 29yr old was injured at work do you think the company is breaking bread with the employees parents?
Short answer is .... No.
The fact that the other fools at the table were showing their mock outrage just shows how immature footballers in general are.
Petracca even more so it seems after last years carry on. -
1 hour ago, Surfer Dee said: I can forgive that we suck. Ageing players, injuries, getting out coached... I'd have accepted this if the price was a flag 4 years ago.
I just can't accept how boring we are. I'd rather lose 100-150 than the way we play now. It's worse than being bad. It's dull. It's pathetic.
Goodwin's coaching for his life, surely he sees that it's either show something or he's gone? Wouldn't you throw some caution to the wind??
Agree.
I've been bored to tears for the most part of Goodwins tenure.
Always hated watching the Swans under Roo's.
Hated watching the Aints and Dockers under Lyon.
Would often tell people if they were playing in my front yard I'd pull the curtains.
Now I've been stuck watching us.
I remember after the ANZAC game in '22 when we strangled Richmond to death it was either Brayshaw or Langdon who stated in a post game interview "We plan to make these blockbuster games as boring as possible."
I thought then ..... "NO, that's not how you excite kids, get prime time games and build a supporter base for the future."
And now here we are pulling 20k for home games.
We had a huge opportunity to build the club on the back of the flag and we've blown it by being an ugly side to watch.
Even when we were winning. -

Max has had it drilled into his poor bonce so many times and continues to believe that "weight of numbers will win the day and is the Melb way" and that eventually the wheel will turn. "Just take more learnings from losses and work harder each week".
All that this constant (Simon's inability or unwillingness to change things up effectively) has done is, over time, made us the easiest team to plan, train and play against on game day.
Unfortunately we have become an oppo coach's dream fixture. We make most teams look like potential premiership contenders. Even the dud ones like Essington and Norf.
The opposition all know that we're mentally weak and if they keep the pressure on for long enough we'll collapse like a house of cards.

Maybe if Trac could hit the side of a barn now and then I might have some sympathy.
He's one of the worst culprits of boot it and hope.
Had a hot little patch out've the middle late in the 3rd and sprayed it everywhere.
The true guns of the game can hit the targets and kick the big goals when the team need 'em most.
Trac cannot do either. -
13 minutes ago, Bang Bang Bang said: Would he even get another coaching gig? I'm skeptical.
I remember in the afterglow of the flag Max waxing about Goodwin as a premiership coach now having a job for life.
(Either coaching or in the media)
I'm also skeptical.
Been the subject of various forms of scuttlebutt and now leading the club down the gurgler at an alarming rate. -

GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
in Melbourne Demons
See .... I'd do a 700km round trip if I knew I'd be watching footy like this.
Chip, chip defensive BS .... No.
