ITS DONE, HE'S COMITTED
-
Amused that he had to say that... does it, in it's self imply that there will be an anoucemnet soon?
Says to me that one will come eventually, but not tonight
-
melbourne fc just tweeted 'no announcement on coach tonight'
-
Just said on SEN Paul Roos will say No to West Coast if asked...they 'think'
-
If we're lucky Barrett will tell us who will win the 2002 Melbourne Cup.
I'm just hanging off any mention we get. The more it is mentioned the more I can try and rest easy and convince myself it is happening!
-
I'll be watching the Footy Show tonight - hoping for either a whisper to come through from the BnF, otherwise an update from Damian Barrett. Surely he'll get Garry involved for some information or 'opinion'
-
I have it on very good authority that he has already been approached by mfc, and I highly doubt you will see him back there. He is extremely committed to geelong
-
Not sure if anyone heard, but i was listening to the radio yesterday morning and Stynes was being interviewed, can't remember the station but Jimmy said to the boys, 'I just have this feeling that melbourne are going to win tonight', so all day yesterday I was hanging out to get to the G and witness jimmy's preminition. When he said that, I too, knew that we would. It's all about belief. I'm a very proud supporter and believer, go dees.
-
Be grateful the game is even on free to air TV! The dees hardly rate for these games ever!
-
-Jim Stynes in full remission
-One finals appearance
-6 blokes (up from 3 last year) in the All-Australian squad of 40-odd (Sylvia, Frawley, Jamar, Davey, Jurrah, Grimes who knows)
-Even more young guns to emerge from the list (Blease, Tapscott, Cook, Howe etc) our enemies will start to get exceptionally nervous if that happens
-Further increase in membership and attendances bringing us close to league average
-Another financially profitable year
-Wins against top sides and wins interstate and at Etihad
-More arrogance from Bailey
not asking for much :D
i love your first priority, not only for what it is but that it is yout top priority.
Definately puts a bit of perspective out there.
while i'm at it... finals appearance and a few watts expeditions!!
-
Not since 2007...
Most infamously, Brad Green's 1-9/2-9 comment that we could still make the finals - days before being thrashed by the Tigers in Daniher's sacking match. (If memory serves)
I think it was Bruce who made those comments!!
-
With all the hype of father-sons going around at the moment, i cant help but wonder about the Lyon boys.
He has 3 boys, does anyone know what they are like on the footy field? Would be great to have one of them, if not more, playing for us one of these days!!
-
have confidence in him**
-
I have also noticed this, especially at the richmond game last this year. I was getting very annoyed that he wasnt being given his chances. With his often fumbling, he obviously needs every bit of confidence he can get and he is onyl going to start growing confidence once his own TEAM MATES
-
no offense to the guy, and no jab at his playing abilities, but i don't like it. Feels like he's our own snappier dressed version of Joffa. It feels strange at this stage of where melbourne are at to have a guy playing trumpet 20 mins before the game ends. And what was the song that he played at the end? because it wasn't the melbourne song
When the trumpeter started playing at 3/4 time, i thought it was more of a way to bring attention to Jimmy's banners that were in the cheersquad, as he stood just under the thanks jimmy banner. The song being like a tribute to Jimmy.

not working for me either. The afl website often experiences glitches, should be back soon.
-
I think the fact it is at Subiaco makes it pretty damn hard for the boys to have a win.
Theres nothing like a bit of faith though! Would love to be proved wrong!
-
Watts to have a breakout game - 3 goals, and enough important stats (ie contested marks) to prove he was a good pick!
...but then again, Jurrah may steal his thunder!
-
Since researching stats etc - in desperation for some good news- I managed to pick out that since our last premiership in '64, the melbourne footy club have made an appearence in the GF every 12 years. these are - 64, 76, 88, 2000. If History repeats itsself, which it so often does, get prepared for a big year in 2012!!!!
I personally believe that 2011 will be a year similar to this year, including no finals but hopefully a few more wins, and by 2012, be in the bottom 4 of the top 8.
What are peoples thoughts on where you think we will be in 2012? (realistically!)
-
Surely we wouldn't be made to wear the white as the home side? Maybe they should be made to come up with an insipid white jumper to wear against us?
As you would all know, it has happened time and time again with North Melbourne when they play collingwood. It's ridiculous that not everyteam has an away jumper that is completely different to the home jumper.
-
No you'd have about 22 dollars.
I was speaking to someone at the club earlier this year, and i think there are thoughts to try and develop him into second ruckman to Jamar. He is not as big as Jamar but has the capacity to get bigger muscle wise. What brings him down mostly is his goal kicking, so as a second ruckman, he wont be wasting the oppurtunities. Thoughts?
-
2 things
1. Jurrah needs to play
2. I'm leaving if we run out in the white guernsey
It's our home game, there should be no reason as to why we should wear our white guernseys, do essendon have an away strip that differs largely to their home strip?
-
Nah don't second guess yourself....reckon it is very valid and it has been good to see Watts steadily improve. I think your right that Jurrah might need some more time, Gotch said as much in his VFL review. But he also added how he pretty much tore the game apart! What to do?!!
True. Well as much as it would be good to get him in the side, maybe he should play in the VFL till he can string a full game together, get some good fitness. Then hopefully his first game will be at the G maybe when we play sydney? It will be great to see him get a good bag of games before seasons end.
