  1. First game to see Casey for some time. Was always so convenient when played at Sandy. Far from a reliable report but a few comments. Wind made marking for talls difficult. It was hard to judge flight. I thought Oscar improved as the game went on as he began judging the flight better. Spencer far from fit, struggled to be the brute he can be as the game went on. Trengove is a class act and will definitely make it in time. I went to see Weideman, but as I say it was hard for talls. With the wind the goals just sailed over everyone's head from outside fifty. Spencer kicked a beauty from at least 60 out close to boundary just before half time. It meant often the person well at the back of the packwas in the best position. The opposite direction a player intending to scout found it dropping on him. The Weeds few chances showed a couple of great skills. A really sharp left foot snap had guys around me arguing if he was a left or right foot. We soon learnt with a beautifully graceful right footer strait through the middle from about 30 out with wind. You can't help but love his kicking style. A couple of really smart handballs for goals. Yes he needs more body but he's got the start of it. Patience. I also wanted to see Hulet as the saints were very keen to draft this long time Saints fan, Sandy dragons player, but we beat them to him. Body wise yes Jack Darling is the model and for a 18/19 year old he looks closer to a 26 year old as if having been around the system for a number of years. What I loved was the variety of smart things he did. In a one on one situation he outsmarted his opponent with a half volley pick up and began running toward goals - into wind- to risky to shoot, but if you can get my point a very smart look away kick - whatever that might be chipped beautifully to a team mate. To me he's got a footy brain. A lovely leading mark in last quarter. A thirty metre kick was just carried by wind to wrong side of post but I thought there was enough in it to be encouraged. The third incident was a very sharp right check side dribble as he ran toward left point post and perhaps a metre or 2 or 3 out dribbled it through. I know he has a reputation for his marking but I've gone away believing there's an awful lot more to this bloke. I think he will play before the weed due to body build and the confidence it will bring him. ANB, great inside hands. Must get a game soon. Dawsy very dedicated and actually held some good marks. One in a pack, although probably helped by the ball drop due to wind. My assessment of Angus is that he has such a good mind he actually reads the play even in scrimmages/centre bounces quicker than others or knows how to read it quicker so is first in with head down, but that leaves him the most vulnerable. Might be better to start him on a wing for a time then let him run as a mid without the initial risk. Joel Smith was of interest and really couldn't track him for he's just to unfamiliar but a few times was impressed with a persons athletic play and when checking the record numbers discovered it was him. Long long term but who knows. The mark of this century. Shaun was there so I asked him how he thought he was tracking and dad was happy. Great afternoon with lots of demons and coaches there. Spoke to Bernie Vince and told him Crows would have won if they still had him to smother Dangerfield.
  2. ....and proving better than scully
  3. Three out of four games possessions in the twenty. Mid teens the other against port with only two players in low twenties. He runs hard, reads how it's unfolding, always looks for someone and a lovely pass. We need a player like that desperately. Along with viney it is shaping as a good year
  4. Why a sook, I would hope he was disgruntled. That's the attitude that impresses me
  5. Examples?
  6. You are consistently emotional and without logic. Take a break
  7. Unfortunately the ump had paid one against pies a bit earlier at that end of ground and they weren't happy. No way the ump could have let it go and get out of the ground
  8. I fully support your comments about jimmy. I believe he will be highly significant for us in the not to distant future. Yes has taken longer than someone like Brayshaw but Angus is 6'2" jimmy6'. But there is an abundance of skill coming to the fore. Don't forget Riccutto believe he could have been no 1 draft pick in his year. Kicks really nicely, perhaps one of our better passes, don't be fooled by the occasional miss kick under extreme pressure. Our team is riddled with it. Has really nice hands, and quick handballs. Yes the blunders are still due to pressure and bad calls. Someone said he couldn't mark. That's rubbish as he holds all his marks..that doesn't mean he out marks taller opponents. Kicking for goal has been reliable since day one. We'd love another yard of pace but wouldn't we like to see that with Tyson, n jones, etc. Jimmy's run is already excellent. Both back and forward. Wasn't that a great run from the back line through the wing for handball then across the other forward flank to receive the pass from JW and goal against doggies. Has he things to learn, of course but I agree he will develop best in firsts. 2 out of last three games over 20 possessions. Mid teens against port when we only had 2 just scrape into 20s. All you jimmy knockers get on board, he's just arriving and will give us plenty to cheer about
  9. Are you kidding, you've been writing rubbish on this forum for so long and now you tell us you rarely go. That's what frustrates we regulars. We have to put up with rubbish from those who don't go. It is different a far different experience being there. For starters you see the whole game unfold, not the minimal picture of the screen. For example if you had been going you would know by now toumpas is one of the better team kicks, that he is a team player and is improving weekly.
  10. I don't think you understand what a turnover is. It will happen when we have the ball and are moving it forward - looking good- and someone muffs a handball or kick - maybe close to our goal - I assume watts inability to snaffle that ball in the goal square might have been counted as a turnover -and it goes to the opposition who head back toward their goal and as it happened time after time on Saturday is marked by Cooke who kicks a goal. According to the Tuesday age game report, in the section on scoring sources they recoded 13 goals 2 or 6 points from melbourne turnovers. Argue with the age if you like but I also heard of it on Monday night via a friend who heard the broadcast commentary report it.
  11. I like them all and for the record am a fitz man. Have argued earlier for his retention on the strength of his subduing Boyd and white. I merely mentioned a few I could remember easily and explain quickly to point out the goals we obviously gave them. I'm also a believer in toumpas but I think he gave up an easy goal with that aborted goal square kick...I didn't think of it before. Please add vineyard and others. Then there is the thirteen goals from turnovers. It was one of those disastrous days when I think we gift a game we probably played better than they did.
  12. II'm not against jones on some occasion. His greatest weapon is speed. We were going to need it against a smaller faster team. I love Tyson and would pick him every week. It wasn't jones that Tyson would have replaced. It was newton or Reilly. My guess the club were wanting to see both these guys in a big match. Better to give Tyson a full game at Casey if that was the purpose. They would have hoped for more from newton and Reilly had earnt a full game after the doggies. Give Tyson a full game. Nothing lost with jones as sub but maybe some value if needed. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But I still believe it was a team loss on the day, not rectified by one change at selection table
  13. Tyson was not the difference. It was our mistakes. Out on the full..goal . Dunnes blunder...goal. Fitz tunnel ball.....goal. Garlands brain fade....goal........do you want more....such as the three very gettable last quarter missed set shots at goal... We had a winning team who shot itself in the foot.
  14. Rubbish. Both are developing well. Fitzgerald stitched up white - have you not heard the pies supporters complaining about white. This on top of his nullification of Boyd suggests he's playing an important role even if not spectacular, Re the toumpas, two of three games with 20 plus possession. One of our elite kickers, excellent mark, very quick hands. His few blunders merely a little slower to adjust to speed of game than some. But one of our good youngsters on his way to an excellent future.
  15. Speak for yourself. We are a team in transition and the reality is we are transitioning to the Goodwin era. There are a host of things to be of great interest to the serious supporter that understands winning is only one goal of this period. I look forward to much more in every game and I will do so to the end of the year.
  16. I wish there were more with you positive sentiment. Most negativity comes from the same old moaners denigrating the same old names. Whether I agree with everything you say I enjoyed reading a thoughtful comment
  17. Whatever one thinks of watts, I took my hat off to him for that goal he nail. That was an incredible barrage of hysterical boos the pies fans threw at him. Well done jack
  18. Moore played in VFL on saturday
  19. Kicked a great 15. Mtre snapped goal from boundary line with seconds to siren and snatch a win against hawks at glen ferrite oval after trailing all day.
  20. If you are going to name names , put your head over the ball and give reasons. For example grimes is one of melbourne's most courageous.
  21. I guess you're going to wait for our 12th win before singing the song
  22. You have more than one problem
