some posters on here will start them up every time Clarry etc have a good game.

    eg Jordon, Bedford style

canโ€™t believe we let Hogan leave ๐Ÿ™„

We got May in that move. A large part of the 21 premiership. IMO it turned out to be a good swap.

  2. After reading the Guerra article in today's HUN I can only believe they wanted him out at all costs. We got a third round pick and will be paying a substantial salary. That is desperation moves to get out of the club. What we don't know went on the last couple of years must be substantial. We literately paid GWS to take him.

Oliver out, Steele in is a great result from that situation.

We did okay in the Petracca trade, but I'm biased because I'm going to love death-riding Gold Coast 2026.

Mihocek and Jiath are each players I've thought 'Yeah, that's probably the only player I like at that club', so now I can 100% hate Collingwood and Hawthorn. Plus, they are terrific for causing trouble at Spelling Bees.

Max Heath is actually the least known of the players for me, but, he is also perhaps the most exact description of what we urgently needed to acquire. Moderate chance we'll be watching a true successor, and hopefully he'll at least be giving good contests and ruck cover up forward. Is this the end of the 'Gawn set shot missing left from 30m in front' era?

But here's a mental summary for me - the contrast with 2012.

Dawes, Byrnes, Rodan and Pederson, of whom only Rodan had much of a profile or body of work.

Mihocek, Jiath, Steele and Heath is clearly a major step up. It's like one set was recruiting to 'dominate VFL' and the other recruiting for 'contributors at AFL'.

    I am calm and content.

Except now I'm anticipating the draft, with the 2012ish period in my mind. Ugh. Will those picks bring us 'Toumpas and Cook' or 'Salem and Hogan'?

Always something to be anxious about at Demonland.

MH has effectively taken Verrall's spot as the up and coming ruckman. I don't believe I have seen Max however he has played senior games and hit the score board. Verall was at best a VFL player in fact he never really played a very good game in his 3 years. The addition of MH imo is a definite step up.

Theyโ€™re all very sad days for different reasons. And thereโ€™s plenty to choose from. I have a friend who says for her there will never be a day sadder than Boxing Day 2004 ๐Ÿ’”

Good point I had forgotten that one.

If this is the deal the Suns are landing a steal.

    This isnโ€™t a win / win, itโ€™s a massive win / lose.

If we take it, it says Trac must be toxic.

So imagine if we donโ€™t make a trade today and he has to return! I think I will spent the next year hiding under the Doona.

Letโ€™s face it we were all smitten with Clarry Choo Choo at the time and would have been disgusted with the club had we lost him to another club. We had no reason to believe his form would not continue in a similar vein to his previous seven years, [censored] happens unfortunately. How could we have known that Clayton would go off the rails, Gus would be knocked unconscious and retired and that Tracc would be so badly injured that he fell out of love with the club in a two year period. Itโ€™s not the clubs fault it is just mind numbing tragic.

Spot on DeeZone, a trail of destruction that no one in the FD or board could have seen coming.

This is where I get a bit conflicted. I agree with what youโ€™re saying, but on the flip side, (this is the opposite side of the paying contracted players that leave the club coin), players have also signed contracts with clubs that they are required to fulfil. So if we donโ€™t get to a stage that we feel like we have gotten a good dealโ€ฆ then heโ€™s a contracted player and thatโ€™s kinda that.

Thatโ€™s flattening dynamics a hellava lot I realise, but if the players are going to try and leave on contracts and do it in a โ€˜this is just the businessโ€™ sense, then conversely, that attitude/ethos also applies the opposite way.

He signed a massive, long term contract with us so that canโ€™t only cut one way IMO.

The whole contract system is a joke. It seems to me it is only binding when it suits the player. Some of these long contracts currently being offered are ridiculous. Take Oliver, the club tells him his role will change next year, he spits the dummy and wants out. If he does achieve this desire he can claim mental problems and simply refuse to take the field. The MFC has no choice but to pay him. IMO if a player wants out and club agrees then the contract should end there and he negotiates a new deal with the new club. This porting your salary from the old team to the new one is [censored].

Pick 7 and 8 will blow out in a weak draft , top it off with the Petracca deal ,the Suns want pick 24.This would be pathetic if we accept any of it. What are the Suns going to give for JUH?

I am 99% sure Petracca is going to play in the red and blue next year.

    I am not.

How badly do we want him back ?

    He's gone nowhere quite yet.

How badly do we need him gone ??

I don't want to see either leave but imo it is past the point of no return.

The idea is that Humphrey will eventually become a midfielder, and is actually very similar to Trac in terms of how his career is progressing

So why would gcs want to lose him. There is more games ahead of him than trac, they are probably paying him substantial less as well. Is there any reliable info that he wants to leave?

    We're ushering out 2 mids..

We need at least one back.. from somewhere.

Picks only garner us some wet behind the ears kid(s) . I really dont thinks picks cuts the mustard .

I have seen nothing that suggests there are quality mids available. The only player we are showing interest in is the guy from GCS and he is a forward. Like it or leave it the replacements for trac and Oliver are going to come from the within, the last couple of years recruits will need to step up.

I disagree. WIth Oliver going there's more room for a midfield with him and Viney. He's a professional so will train hard and perform. WIth a new coach / voice and development of the kids and more attacking gameplan, he might fall back in love with the club.

I think for the MFC it's better to hold than trade him for unders.

There lies the question what is a fair deal for the MFC? It seems to me that GCS are holding most of the cards, how badly do we want him back, I suspect not at all. Talk of having him back IMO is to try and strength out position. He has played his last game at the MFC.

  12. 32 minutes ago, beelzebub said:

But in this instance thats a stance we can take. It's Traccs idea to go. We dont have to give him away.

If the deal isn't to our liking...which we said at the outset then... yep.. walk away until they come to the party.

No need to settle for seconds.... we've already said he WILL play for us unless a satisfactory deal is offered

We both know that this is just mfc's starting position in dealing . At this point there is next to no chance of that happening BB. He will be at GCS the only thing up for decision is the cost to GCS. We will hang in there till close to the end then take the offered deal. I suspect that GCS would like him but not at to high a price. That I know of no price has been nominated at this point so I have no idea what we see as a good deal. 2 high draft picks and only paying a small amount of his salary seems a good outcome.

100% OD. Imagine if us nuffies on Demonland were negotiating trades ๐Ÿ˜…, after one season clubs would either refuse to negotiate with us or not take our position seriously.

Imagine if we took the take it or leave it attitude and they left it. I can already hear the screams of sack the FD, pres, coach and the board.

  14. 15 hours ago, Coolx2 said:

I would only take an insane offer for Oliver if GWS pay his full Wage and we pick up a couple of their fringe players otherwise it is no deal .

I am sick of this club getting screwed over.

Except we created the position we find ourselves. It would different if Oliver had said I want out but he didn't. We were IMO ham fisted with how we handled this, again IMO he has the moral high ground.
