  1. PartyBoy piped up about Goodwin after it publicly known that we were in discussions to appoint him as senior assistant. Effectively, he took a free swing at a fast ball and connected. He might not be as lucky this time.
  2. Of course you would think it's a great deal. For us. You have to please the other guy, too. Or, we can just wait with our money, our pipe dreams and a (still) disgracefully poor list in free-agency 2015 where half-a-dozen clubs bump us to the back of the queue. Your call.
  3. Even if Dangerfield becomes available this year AND we land ourselves the box seat, don't be fooled into believing he'll come cheap. We hold the pocket aces but our list is in such a terminal state that during the trade discussion, it is always advantage Adelaide. Losing Dangerfield will hurt but they have a talented younger list coming through inc. Talia, Smith, the Crouch brothers, Jenkins, Lynch and Kerridge. Pick 2 + Trengove / Toumpas will not suffice. Both picks will go. That's the long and short of it. And it comes with the likelihood that in 1-5 years time, Petracca and / or Brayshaw are tearing it up elsewhere. Let the media hogs have their feed in the trough. Because Dangerfield brings not just a pure talent like those draftees but leadership which will mould our players on the field - the way Roos is doing in the box. That has been the plan set out by Roos from day one - a culture change. We will have to pay overs to land Dangerfield. But we must - get - him. This is the only way up and it will incite real change among the club.
  4. Go ahead and believe that. More women for me.
  5. The NRL have cut off the limbs of the Storm by declaring their 2010 season null and void. This was an elaborate ploy committed by off-field personnel and although the players, coaching staff and supporters/members must wear the punishment dealt to the club as a whole, to render their current playing season worthless is genocide. Administration will clear out, players will walk, coaching staff will find greener pastures, supporters will hesitate (I expect an enormous crowd on Sunday, however). The problem is, where can the Storm reach out to for local support? In the Northern states where League dominates the widespread community there is no issue. Here? Among an expanding AFL and a booming soccer industry? There is no crutch. Those NRL executives indicating their commitment to a Victorian-based club are lying through their teeth. Rest in Peace.
  6. Sure does. Care to meet me in person? Don't fall too hard from your high horse, cobber.
  7. Sure, bring him in. Plenty of lively, super-talented youngsters but we need the balance of experienced veterans and as it stands, Davey and Green are not enough.
  8. Bottom of the twentieth innings. Completely unprecedented.
  9. Pleasure. Hot summer days, targeting the girls with waterbombs was the bees knees (until they made new dresses with a higher thread count). A simpler time ...
  10. Just make top-of-the-range players off limits from being contacted by GC17. If Ablett wants to bail on Geelong by his own accord, so be it. At least then the burden of losing a player will be stacked mostly on the individual and not the league or GC17. Regardless, I can't see GC17's recruitment drive being successful anyway. All they will poach is inconsistent middleweights and journeymen that other clubs will be glad to get rid of.
  11. How was last night specifically an all time low? The show's quality has been in the basement for 3 years running. What you have mentioned above sounds like a normal day at the Bendigo St. studio.
  12. If I want footy discussion there is a good range of them: On the Couch, One Week at a Time, The Sunday Footy Show, The Marngrook Footy Show etc. As for TFS, I spent 6 years of high school playing out almost identical episodes of wisecracking and childish tomfoolery in the quadrangle at lunchtime. These days if I want to talk footy among mates in a light-hearted manner I go to the pub.
  13. JW. A power forward with his athleticism, polish and strength overhead will eclipse Franklin. They all will play pivotal roles in the future, however.
  14. The last club anyone should underestimate is the Crows.
  15. For the much vaunted #1 pick of a draft introducing itself into the best-of-all-time ranks, Jack is becoming quite the enigma --- no thanks to a disturbing lack of communication between the club and its members. For instance, is he on a modified program due to his back and unavailable until Round 4? If so, why were supporters asking of him in the past weekend's Casey game?
  16. I must admit, viewing the footage live last night there didn't seem to be much in Jacob Surjan copping a slight knock to his head from the hip of the West Coast player. Now it makes sense! If you didn't just watch Brian Taylor's sleuthing discovery on Fox Sports, it appears the Port doctors have rushed onto the field w/ stretcher in tow for Surjan even though he is on his feet and regrouping for the kick-in. He's been given word by one of the doctors to lay down again! Hops on the stretcher, neck brace and all, and is carried off the ground. Cheeky cheeky.
  17. Mental note: must copyright future posts.
  18. If Sylvia is ready, one must go. Bartram was the late call-up and I'd expect him to be the unlucky one.
  19. If Dunn can use his body and create strong leads alongside Green, it gives Petterd the freedom to zip around as a crumber a little more. The formula of a serviceable makeshift forward line.
  20. I'm not the outlandish type who rags on the umpires every week, but today they were visibly awful. We can't hang our hats on their incompetence as the reason for our loss, no way, but they definitely contributed.
  21. Be prepared for a rollercoaster of a season. Much like the high school teen, this developing team will experience some pretty wild mood swings over the course of this year. It might be the most emotionally draining season since the merger talks.
  22. Kicking a footy should be akin to riding a bike for these guys, KS.
