Too bad the game was at 10 this morning, I was in fact at school, was just wondering if anyone had a way to replay the game. Maybe Melbourne might make a YouTube replay???? Thanks, Cam.

Hi Cam, you would have been better off posting this in the main Melbourne Demons section as very few posters come into the General Discussion section.

As for your question, go to the Match Report on the MelbourneFC web page or app, scroll to the end of the report and you’ll find a link there to a full replay.

Still can't forgive King for Jettisoning the 2nd best player I have seen since Rob Flower. Disgrace!

I very much doubt he would have returned to his best, and I honestly don’t think he would have been terribly invested in the club, given that, and I’m purely guessing at this point and so may be wrong, he and King didn’t seem to hit it off too well. The other thing is that his delivery (along with Trac’s) had gone right off and he had never been good in front of goals to begin with.

Personally, I see his loss as a great opportunity for us to rejuvenate our midfield, with Windsor, Rivers, Pickett, and Culley all likely to spend a lot of time there, along with old stalwarts in Steele and Viney. Exciting times ahead!

As for Clarry, I seriously want to see him thrive at GWS, as I think a happy Clarry onfield will see a happier Clarry off field, and god knows he needs that. I’ll be watching him and getting behind him (except when we play them). The change of scenery plus the fact that he’ll have Hogan and Bedford there to keep him company, will do him good, plus GWS losing Green from their midfield will give him the opportunity to prove his worth.

What was actually wrong with Angry's performance?

Just because Decastella and some other (American?) 'celebrity' were laughing began a narrative that the entire half time show was all his fault.

He sang 1 song and the batmobile would have had nothing to do with him. Play it again and tell me precisely what was wrong with his performance.

I didn’t like it. I’ve never been a fan of his, although he’s always had excellent guitarists who went on to better things; Ian Rilen being a case in point, playing with Rose Tattoo and then moving on to X and Sardine IV, both infinitely better bands, in my opinion.

You seem to have taken my comment personally? Are you related in some way?

Great video. Who are some other Dees celebrities who could have hypothetically featured?

Ones off the top of my head (not all of them necessarily big names or likeable)... Neil Mitchell, Mike Sheahan, Derryn Hinch, Nazeem Hussein, Rob Sitch, Rob Gel, Mal Walden, 2 of the Sooshi Mango guys...

Rob McKenzie of McKenzie Theory fame

David Bland of the old TV mime show Kommotion (hosted by Ken Sparks)

Dave Bridie of Not Drowning Waving and My Friend the Chocolate Cake fame, and performed a brilliant version of Grand Old Flag on Marngrook Footy.

I posted this in the Superbowl Halftime Show thread but it’s more relevant to this topic since it’s about training:

Speaking of music yesterday’s Gosch’s soundtrack was brought to us by CJ. He made the playlist specifically for training. At one point in warmups Reggie (XT) and CJ were kinda dancing, only for a few seconds but their timing/rhythm was super impressive. It got me thinking that perhaps dancing should be part of the training program. They already do yoga and pilates but dancing hones a different skill set.

Actually it’s interesting that you say that… now, my memory is currently as dodgy as, but I seem to recall that a few decades ago, maybe in the Gutnik years, someone was brought into the club to conduct ballet oriented training, to develop their ability to leap, and I’m guessing, to work on their balance.

    Fair comment

I note you reference to an older generation of musicians. They expressed their politics through their music. Which I’m fine with. And I get the sense they meant what they sang about. I don’t get that sense from modern musicians. I’ve picked on bono because he can’t walk past a microphone without pontificating, yet he has some very questionable tax structures in place.

i guess its the hypocrisy that gets on my nerves

Yeah, I know what you mean…there is a lot of grandstanding, which I’m not keen on, but really, I don’t mind the politicking of Springsteen, the Dropkick Murphys, early Midnight Oil, and a number of others as they have pretty much been political animals from the get go.

I think that current events around the world have ‘enticed’ politically minded musicians out of the shadows… to me that’s understandable, but I don’t expect others to agree with what I think.

So you want the AFL half time entertainment performed in a foreign language?

I really couldn’t care less to be honest, although I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion. But while we’re going there, how did you feel about the Grand Old Flag being sung in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, at the 2019 AFL Indigenous Round?

But, today’s spectacle was an absolute snooze fest. Definitely wouldn’t have won many casual fans over. About as interesting as a 2 hour long Simon Goodwin press conference.

Yeah, it’s funny what rocks our boats….for me, I love hispanic/latino rhythms and that performance had it in spades…I’d never heard of Bad Bunny before until the orange teletubbie got triggered, and so it did peek my interest. I reckon he’s a lot better and more interesting than the bulk of artists of that ilk. And I have to say, he wins hands down when it comes to which I preferred between his and Mariah Carey’s effort at the Frozen Olympics.

But regardless of any of that, my post was more about what the AFL could do to improve the presentation. I couldn’t give a rat’s if it was overseas or local artists, although I would prefer the latter… just make it a better spectacle.

I expect I am in a minority of 1 (or maybe 2) but I don't see the point of these sort of 1/2 time shows. While some artists may have a big following, a lot of people attending an AFL GF might prefer other music (or even hate what the AFL has chosen).

But there is one thing people attending an AFL GF have in common (leaving aside some in the corporate boxes). Guess what that is. They like footy! How about 20 minutes of some footy related competitions beyond a sprint. Surely the geniuses at AFL HQ could think up some entertaining comps involving players, goalposts and a few footballs.

If it made the cost of admission cheaper, fine… but you could bet London to a brick that it wouldn’t… so I’m all for entertaining the masses before all of the footy starts. There are already plenty of footy related events going on in the general precinct, aren’t there?

it should be oztrayan only performers

we have incredible artists around this nation and instead we get foreign artists parachuted in to make their millions and prepare for their next antipodean tour

    it's appalling, but expected

I’ve got no problem with that at all…in fact, I’d prefer that. Maybe I didn’t get my point across well enough, as I’m suggesting that it can be made more enjoyable for the viewing audience as well as those in attendance.

Never heard of bad bunny but I'm sure his political views are just as tedious as kid rocks.

Personally, i prefer my favoured artists to stay away from politics. I liked early U2 music, but jesus wept, Bono is such a dose i find it hard to separate him from the music.

I have no issue with politics in music as after all, that’s what music was in the days of the bards and traveling minstrels. Even in the 20th century, artists like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and many more too numerous to count, were all political.
