  1. Apart from having ‘controversial’ guests recently, Rogan himself has apparently been speaking out against the govt imposed mandates since late 2020. He has made comments suggesting that young people don’t need to vaccinate, something that a person with his platform and with no background in science, should probably not be doing.

I’m sure that no small part of the reason that artists are bailing is that Spotify pay the artists using their platform, a pittance in royalties, while raking in big money off their backs. They then turn around and use the money they have earned from those artists and make a $100mil deal to secure Rogan on their platform. Regardless of what Rogan has to say, I think that would be enough reason to walk out on Spotify.

Kozzy just seems like he'll go up another level. Couldn't believe my eyes how he easily ran down Hunt.

To be fair, Hunt had lost control of the ball while bouncing it, and had to check himself… I don’t think he would have been caught otherwise. Good pace from Kozzy, nonetheless.

Paraphrasing Aristotle, and / or Erasmus' translation,

To be happy takes a complete lifetime; for one Sparrow swallow does not make spring, nor does one fine day; and similarly one day or a brief period of happiness does not make a man supremely blessed and happy.

But this particular Sparrow makes me very happy, and makes my whole year, not just the spring of 2021;  and that (not really brief but ongoing) period of happiness does in fact make me supremely blessed and happy  (though also very hungry for more).

Yes, but let's not forget that Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle!

What has surprised me is the amount of anti-vaxxers world wide.   More so in affluent countries.  And that the affluent countries aren't helping out the poorer countries with vaccine availability

It doesn’t surprise me in the least. Our so-called ‘advanced nations’ have widespread access to a thing called ‘the internet’ and that has become the new playground for conspiracists. One can only wonder what the world would be like today if the internet has existed mid 20th century… polio, smallpox, measles, mumps etc etc would have run rampant.

I'm double vaxxed with Pfizer in retrospect I should have got AZ. You only need to look at the death rates in Europe to see why. Britain who gave AZ to over 65's and the rest of Europe who didn't (I'm not over 65)

Also, I believe that AZ has been a not for profit arrangement, although it appears now that they are moving towards small profits while keeping the vaccine affordable:

Mask wearing cuts infections by 53 per cent

(Link to the original study (BMJ) included in the article)

    https://www.newscientist.com/article/2237475-covid-19-news-mask-wearing-cuts-infections-by-53-per-cent/#ixzz7CpklpyN9

Not to mention the fact that it also reduces the risk of passing on influenza and other airborne illnesses; the things that have an enormous impact of productivity by loss of man hours, over many many years.  People have been wearing masks as a common courtesy in Asian countries for many decades.

    6.30pm tonight (SBS Viceland)

'Country Music' 2nd episide (Ken Burns) ... part 1 is available on SBS On Demand

Often heard that rock n roll (and later on all the off-shoots of rock) was borne out of Country Music roots.  Stand corrected of course

The first episode was good so definitely worth a look

I have the full set on DVD.  It is very good, but if you want to get the real nitty gritty on country music, I recommend the podcast Cocaine & Rhinestones which is presented by Tyler Mayhan Coe, son of outlaw country musician, David Allan Coe... it is brilliant.

I'd remove the Union Jack but replace that portion of the flag with the indigenous flag

Forever recognising the original inhabitants of our great country

I first saw that used in the film, Event Horizon.  Sam Neill was wearing it on his suit...

As Leigh Matthews once said, to win a premiership everything at the club has to be in lockstep right down to who cooks the sausage sizzle or something like that. So we must keep the BBQ in good shape, source the best sausages, bread, sauce and onions plus make sure our sausage turner’s contract is extended so not poached by other clubs.

Are you suggesting that we become the Bunnings of the AFL?

Can you show me a picture of the style? 😄

Here’s a couple of images that show the style of the artwork, not the actual image I would envisage though… it should be a front on of the gravestone with that hand holding the Sherin, projecting from the ground.

  11. Can I make a suggestion as I’m unlikely to get a tatt… if anyone is short of ideas, how about a grave headstone done in the style of the old Tales From the Crypt comics (with a skeletal hand reaching out from the grave, holding a Sherin), with the inscription “Norm Smith Curse 1964 - 2021”

Either above or below (or even on the Sherin), could be the Melbourne Demons Premiers 2021 line.

I ordered them through the Good Friday appeal, not the club so it may be different. Nothing from the club has arrived of yet

Mine were ordered directly from the HUN shop via the Good Friday Appeal link. I sent a message to them two days ago, but no response to that either.

Hard, I love the Goons too but only knew them through cassettes. Was the Telegoons a TV show or video of them doing the radio show?

My favourite quote has to be "He said said that's a nasty lump on your bonce mate, and I said where? And he said there, and he pointed it out with a dirty great club!"

It was a Goons show made for television in the 1960’s, using puppets and voiced by the Goons themselves… Sellers, Seacombe, Milligan etc. It was brilliant.  There were about 26 episodes made and each ran for about 15 minutes.

As for quotes, one of my favourites was:

    <knocking at door>
    “Who is it?”
    “It’s me!”
“It can’t be. I’m in here!”
