This is such a ridiculously random gallery - half the Trac photos are of him shirtless (when they were playing soccer), and then they have like 5 close up portraits of Lever (including one half in shadow).

paging @WalkingCivilWar, there's even a topless Langers  photo... talk about a Wild Tsun!

I think that a tactic we should employ, is to have Oliver face the opposition and lift his jersey whenever the ball is coming in; the glare would temporarily blind the opposition players giving ours time to move in a get the ball unopposed.

Hibberd potentially missing or underdone is a worry, as he's the perfect matchup for Papley.

Missing would be a problem, but missing what was essentially, by all reports, a fairly light training session, is hardly going to see a fully developed veteran player underdone. A 24hr gastro bug is not going to drain him to any great extent.

Clearly a man of discerning taste you are.

However, the next question would be: which area in Tokyo do you like the most? That will definitely say a lot about you!

Where do I start? I love the Kabuki-Cho area of Shinjuku, particularly the narrow bar lined lanes toward Hanazono Shrine, parts of Tawaramachi near Asakusa where there are streets full of shops selling display ‘food’. Parts of Asakusa I like, and a great memory was going to one of the oldest restaurants in Tokyo, the Sometarō okonomiyaki restaurant.

When I first stayed in Tokyo, Yoyogi Park near Harajuku used to have the street running through it, lined with bands and rockabilly dancers, all performing at the same time. The problem is that the noise police moved in and now only the rockabilly dancers are still there.

Places I avoid are Roppongi and, to an extent, Ginza. But Akihabara (the electronics district) is enjoyable if done in moderation; best time being on the weekends they close off the street and you’ll see a lot of cosplay action going on, and the Meido (Maid) Cafes are definitely pretty out there.

SEN ..AFL trades reporter matter of factly saying Jacksons gone but still a toss up between the eagles and freo as to who signs him.

I cant believe that we would take Grundy in a three way swap involving Darcy and the massive salary package  that comes with him. Pies wont compensate us.They've tried worming out of the Treloar salary dump with the bulldogs.

Thanks alot LJ. Tempting to drop him  for the finals but cant. No-one to replace him. He better play well for us before jumping ship.

Blaming Jackson?? He’s already been playing well for us in the last few games and I can’t see him slowing down for the remaining games. I hate this idea that if someone is likely to leave the club, they should be made to play out their remaining games in the VFL.

Jackson obviously loves the club and his team mates, but he obviously has a strong desire to be in the same place as his family.

  5. I’ve been a member of Demonland for over 12 years now, since Demonology went all weird and no longer held any attraction for me.

I’ve made a few real-world friendships thanks to this site and have become acquainted with some others when my son and I have attended training on our forays down to Melbourne (rare these days), but have also had the odd run in with certain posters, but that’s pretty much limited to politics in the General Discussion forum 😁

So, thanks Demonland for giving us a great shared footy experience… the only thing I’ve learnt is to avoid the game day threads… something that I’m slowly getting better at.

Note that Manuka Oval's capacity (to the point of standing in the mud around the side) is only about 12,000 and there's bugger-all parking or public transport. Almost no undercover seating but some great grass hills. It is very much a cricket ground.

Sydney Showground stadium is a very pretty little (22k I think) stadium with facilities a full 30 years newer than funny old Manuka.

Just being clear that the problem here isn't the stadium.

Add to that the fact that most of the people going to Manuka games are going for the general love of football and not so much anything to do with GWS.

The problem here isn't the fans.

I love the Manuka Oval as a venue to watch AFL, and I’ve always found parking to be relatively easy; public transport has always sucked big time in Canberra.

The Manuka Oval reminds me of the days when the then VFL clubs had their own grounds (when I’d go in the 60’s) which were, for the most part, small capacity with a nice community like atmosphere.

I wouldn't wanting to be hanging around the western suburbs of Sydney, I think it is a s*it of a place, I was stationed at Holsworthy a few decades ago and it was bad enough then and from what I have seen it has gotten worse.

Apologies to anyone here who lives in that area but that is my opinion.

It’s still pretty bad, but Giants Stadium, (or whatever it’s called) is pretty much Inner West these days.

Takes me back to being an adolescent teen getting all my money together and going to HMV at the Jam Factory to buy Follow The Leader on CD. Great times!

I couldn't figure out though why the first 13 tracks were just 5 seconds of no sound, I honestly thought it was broken until I read in the liner notes that this was deliberate for some reason. I did always wonder how many people took it back to the store without reading them.

It was the opposite issue with The Clash's London Calling album (LP - not sure about the CD), where the song Train in Vain (Stand By Me) was not included on the track listing, either on the cover or on the label.

Only found out about these girls this week, been around a while now and can play...gotta love the Japanese.

The Japanese have a history of girl bands going way back, and for the most part they’ve been excellent in terms of performance and musical ability.

I don’t know how old he was when he wrote it but he was 33 when it was released. Twice the age you’d hope for him to have been. Any way you cut it, that’s a big bunch of wrong. 😁

Ringo didn’t write it… it’s written by the Sherman brothers and was originally recorded by, I think, Johnny Burnette; although lyrically it’s probably something more suited to Jerry Lee Lewis.

…and did I see a Fritsch handpass out to Kossie

It was Melksham who got the ball out to Kossie. I thought that was possibly the key part of the play, as he could easily have tried to keep possession to ensure a ball up, but he kept his head and made a conscious effort to get the ball to Pickett instead.
